AFK in a city

BadBoy will actively scan your chat for possible spam, when found:

Block, all spam that is found from appearing
Report, the spamming player automatically

What sets this aside from other spam blockers?

BadBoy is made to be extremely light, simple, has no ingame options, and works automatically without asking the user.

But what if I want to know who I'm reporting and what they spammed?

Sure, ingame EXACTLY type:

Can I turn off the reported message?

re-add a far reduced report throttle (0.5sec) to prevent problems with spam complaints not blocking the spammers chat before more lines come through due to latency.

Installation Guide

Exit "World of Warcraft" completely
Download the mod you want to install
- Make a folder on your desktop called "My Mods"
- Save the .zip/.rar files to this folder.
- If, when you try to download the file, it automatically "opens" it... you need to RIGHT click on the link and "save as..." or "Save Target As".
Extract the file - commonly known as 'unzipping'
Do this ONE FILE AT A TIME!
- Windows
  - Windows XP has a built in ZIP extractor. Double click on the file to open it, inside should be the file or folders needed. Copy these outside to the "My Mods" folder.
  - WinRAR: Right click the file, select "Extract Here"
  - WinZip: You MUST make sure the option to "Use Folder Names" is CHECKED or it will just extract the files and not make the proper folders how the Authors designed
- Mac Users
  - StuffitExpander: Double click the archive to extract it to a folder in the current directory.
Verify your WoW Installation Path
That is where you are running WoW from and THAT is where you need to install your mods.
Move to the Addon folder
- Open your World of Warcraft folder. (default is C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\)
- Go into the "Interface" folder.
- Go into the "AddOns" folder.
- In a new window, open the "My Mods" folder.
- The "My Mods" folder should have the "Addonname" folder in it.
- Move the "Addonname" folder into the "AddOns" folder
Start World of Warcraft
Make sure AddOns are installed
- Log in
- At the Character Select screen, look in lower left corner for the "addons" button.
- If button is there: make sure all the mods you installed are listed and make sure "load out of date addons" is checked.
- If the button is NOT there: means you did not install the addons properly. Look at the above screenshots. Try repeating the steps or getting someone who knows more about computers than you do to help.

Translations

When you download a mod, please be sure that the mod is compatible with your translation of wow. Some mods only work on the US versions, while some only work on some of the various European versions. These variations are called "Localizations".

TOC Numbers (Out of Date Mods)

When Blizzard patches WoW, they change the Interface number. This means that all mods will be "out of date" unless or until the author releases a new version for that interface. Some people go into the .toc files and update the numbers themselves, but this is STRONGLY advised against as it will cause problems locating possible incompatibilities addons. When you log into WoW after a patch, you DO NOT have to delete your interface directory. All you have to do is simply tell WoW to ignore the interface numbers and load all the mods anyway. All you have to do is, while at the "character select" screen, look in the lower left corner and click on the "addons" button. A window will pop up listing all your installed mods.

If you look in the upper left corner of that window there should be a box that says "Load Out of Date AddOns". You want to CHECK this box. Now simply go into WoW normally and all your mods should load. As of the 1.9 patch, you will have to do this after EVERY patch/update that Blizzard posts! If you encounter any problems with a mod after a patch, please be sure to let the author of the mod know so they can fix it.

Mac Support

WoW addons are not platformed based. As such, they can be used on either Mac or PC. You can extract both .zip and .rar files on a Mac using StuffitExpander.

I wish I didn't have to mod your addon whenever I update it, but it sounds like I have no choice. I want to report anal spam and this is the only way to my knowledge. I could download yet another addon (ccleaner), but that will just filter it.. not report it (yes?). I'd rather edit one text file and be done, then run an additional addon anyway. I like to keep the num of addons I run small. I do love this addon tho.

No, I do not report anal spam on purpose, but I'm currently thinking of v4 and I might integrate the entire ccleaner into badboy and have an option to report these extras, alternately I might redesign ccleaner and allow people to customize words, but without allowing reporting. Time will tell.

An option to auto-report anal spam would be great, as it DOES violate the rules and can be reported with "Report Spam" - simply filtering it won't make people stop.

As stated before, any posting of modifications to the addon will be removed. Not only is it against my licensing choice, but as stated before:

I've went through the work and effort to make the extra 2 addons so that you DON'T need to modify the addon.
I ask for people to report spam on the forums so that you DON'T need to modify the addon.

Modifying the addons not only stops the Curse Client automatically updating to the latest version and resulting in spammers going unreported, but also demotivates people that update manually because they don't want to go through the effort of making changes to the addon every time.

The addon(s) are fine as they are and I have put work into them so that you DON'T need to modify them, all you need to do is install about them and forget about them, what more can you ask for..? Well in return I ask that you do not advertise how to modify the addon.

Not only that, but if you don't know what you're doing, innocent people are going to get reported.

If you're willing to keep making changes to the addon every update, that's fine by me, just keep it to yourself.

In BadBoy_Levels v2.1.0 now Filters level 55/56 Death Knights by default, no options to change this currently. A whisper will be sent just like other classes, but asking to be level 57.

Er, Why? If they have a death knight, they have obviously previously levelled a character to 55, which is well past the annoyance threshold? I'm not going to update the add-on until you add an option to disable that.

Gold spammers use hacked accounts in most cases to advertise, and they tend to have the ability to create Death Knights. Keep in mind this isn't a BadBoy feature it's a BadBoy_Levels feature, which has it's own addon page for comments.

Because alot of gold farmers use death knights as bots now also people xfering to a new server do the same thing. i think its a great idea. plus if they are on your friend list or in your guild then they wont be filtered so whats the harm? and if there lvl 55 or 56 they just started being a DK as you can hit lvl 57 in about 30 min of playing.
