Auctioneer Suite

Auctioneer Suite provides you with the tools and data necessary to make those difficult auctioning decisions with ease.

From purchasing to posting, the Auctioneer Suite provides time-tested tools to allow you more time to actually play your characters or play the market. As you will soon discover, it is much more than a simple "Auctioning AddOn", the Auctioneer Suite also shows in-depth information for all game items, such as those used in quests or recipes, and much, much more.

Numerous other addons will also use the Auctioneer statistics you gather via scanning. This is especially true for many of the popular crafting AddOns, such as Little Sparky's Workshop.

Auctioneer Suite is a complete rewrite that has taken over a year to complete and we are quite pleased with the outcome and trust that, given a few days, you will find most tasks made easier and, importantly, faster!

Looking for Lightweight and Fast?

Try the "Auctioneer" download from our primary site, rather than the "Auctioneer Suite" we upload to Curse and WoWInterface. All of our downloads are accessible from our primary site at http://AuctioneerAddOn.Com/dl . This version offers a small footprint, with only the basic "Post" frame and tooltip information to assist in your purchasing decisions.

When updating, this time...

Be sure to remove all old files- follow the instructions at http://wiki.norganna.org/Installing . Once complete, please read http://forums.norganna.org/discussion/8100/ before commenting here or on our main site. We are being inundated with questions and requests that have been previously addressed.

As promised, a third, ultra-simple posting interface had been added. Even though it was planned to eventually include a means of stack-post-pricing, after a crazy effort by some of our volunteers, the new SimpleAuction, "Post" tab is included. Check it out!

  • Please, do not post errors here; instead, kindly visit http://forums.norganna.org/4/ , our Support Forum, and be sure to search before posting- many questions and errors reported are duplicates.
  • For the fastest service, various questions are addressed in the AuctioneerAdvanced FAQ, http://wiki.norganna.org/AucAdvanced/FAQ . We have gone to great lengths to ensure that the most common issues have been addressed.
  • Remember that Auctioneer Classic has not be ported to WorldofWarcraft 3.0 and will not be ported to WotLK. In its place, we offer the new Auctioneer Suite, a new, stable, modular build. There are differences, but all functionality has been maintained.

Questions, comments, concerns, alphas/betas (when available), bug reports, the occasional bit of praise?

Basic Auctioneer Suite Details

Auctioneer is a ground-up rewrite of the Auctioneer code in order to provide a number of enhancements to the end-user, including:

CompactUI

An alternative to the standard auction browsing interface.

  • Displays more auctions per page
  • Displays more data per auction
  • Allows you to change column width by Right-Clicking in the column heading and dragging left or right to resize the column to your liking
  • Provides a percentage comparison with the Market Value Statistic of your choice
  • Allows auctions to be color coded by price level
  • Allows multiple sorting options not available on the standard interface

Appraiser

An intuitive auction posting frame.

  • Remembers your preferences for bid/buyout prices, stack sizes, and number of listings to post per item.
  • Allows queuing of auctions, so you can instruct it to list hundreds of auctions and alt-tab while it does so for you
  • Allows you to specify the value price of your choice and remembers your selection
  • Displays competing listings, the age of the data, and allows you to sort these listings and refresh them easily.
  • Provides a scrollable list of all auctionable items in your bags; allowing you to quickly post all of your goods.
  • Provides a "Match Competition" setting which will automatically undercut your competition when posting auctions, within your parameters
  • Provides the ability to change to a "Simple" view; a bit like the Auctioneer Classic posting interface.
  • Allows you to change column width by Right-Clicking and dragging to the column width of your choice.
  • Allows you to post multiple auctions with the single click of the Batch Post button
    • Alt+Left-Click == Refresh Pricing of all Batch Postable Items
    • Shft+Alt+Left-Click==Trial Posting, prints the pricing to your chat window, but does not post any items, allowing you to verify settings
    • Ctrl+Shft+Alt+Left-Click==Post all items that have the "Allow Batch Posting" checkbox selected (located at the top of the item information pane)

Statistic Modules

There are a variety of fully customizable statistic modules included with Auctioneer that can provide a variety of pricing information- all based upon your needs.

  • "Market" - a custom designed formula that merges the various statistics into a usable price. This is the default setting and is highly recommended.
  • Stat-Simple - A straight average of the last 100 listings seen per item, with averages across 3, 7, and 14 days
  • Stat-StdDev - Similar to Stat-Simple, this ignores listings that are outside of one standard deviation from the mean.
  • Stat-VendMarkup - This allows you to calculate a listing price based on a markup of the vendor sell price.
  • Stat-WoWEcon - This uses the outside addon WoWEcon to provide purchase-based data from it's database.
  • Any other stat module that you or others wish to create can be easily added to auctioneer functionality

BeanCounter

An associated addon that tracks your bid, postings, and mail to help you determine your overall and item-specific profitability.

  • Creates journal entries when you bid, buy, post, or retrieve AH mail.
  • Provides a searchable interface that can display all activity or only certain items
  • Allows you to change column width by Left-Click and dragging the column to the size of your liking

SearchUI

An Auctioneer Utility that prompts you when it sees auctions that fit your criteria for buying and, or, bidding.

  • Uses Searchers that you can customize for various desired deals such as:
    • Resale - Prompts you for deals based on discount from the market value, AH fee, and expected relistings
    • Disenchant - Prompts you for deals based on disenchanting armors and weapons
    • Prospecting - Prompts you for jewelcrafting deals from prospecting ores
    • Vendor - Prompts you for auctions listed below vendor sell price
  • The "RealTimeSearch" will continually reload the first and last page of the AH, within reason, as per your configuration, to find the newest bargains and auctions that are just about to come to an end. Both great times to find some amazing deals.
  • Piggybacks on your AH scans if allowed to do so

What is this scanning about?

Once a user moves to the auction house and beyond just buying and selling from/to vendors, the whole game changes. No longer is the user dealing with the static prices of the vendor to support their character's income. We are now dealing with the fluid and hectic nature of a dog-eat-dog market economy.

In such an economy, which is in a constant state of flux, it can be difficult to select the correct pricing points for your item at the auction house. Sometimes the prices and value of your items can be wildly different to the vendor price due to many factors, the value of items that can be made from your item, the use of a particular item in a quest, the suitability of a particular weapon or armor to specific classes, and the disenchantability of an item to enchanters.

Primarily, the driving factor of the price fluctuations, as in the real world is supply versus demand. When supply is high, but demand is low, competition drives the prices down, and conversely then supply is low, but demand is high, the market is driven into a sellers market.

What can Auctioneer do to help me?

Auctioneer can help you alleviate this lack of market knowledge over time by watching the market evolve. When you go to the auction house for the first time after installing Auctioneer, you will see a row of 3 buttons along the top of the main "Browse" frame, click the "play" button to begin your first scan of the entire auction house. Auctioneer will begin recording statistics for every item it finds, including the bid, buyout, and more.

Once the market analysis has completed, you will notice additional information about the items in the tooltips when you mouse over them.

What happens when you go to sell items via the Auction House?

If auctioneer has enough data, when you try to put an auction up for sale, it will attempt to provide you with intelligent pricing points based upon the market data it has accumulated through scanning.

When you select an item in the full or simple "Appraiser" frame, Auctioneer will suggest a minimum price, a buyout price and display relevant data about it's decision making process in the right, receipt window, including how it has arrived at its prices.

When you place an item in the SimpleAuction, "Post" frame, Auctioneer will suggest a minimum bid, a buyout price, and display relevant data, including the deposit and more.

What are the available pricing models, or statistics, again?

There are numerous pricing models from which to choose, they are discussed in the FAQ, located at http://Wiki.Norganna.Org/AucAdvanced/FAQ .

Conclusion

We hope this helps people to understand Auctioneer a bit better.

Happy Auctioneering!!

    I have a question...

I buy and sell on the AH on a daily basis, i just got a new computer and i am wondering if there is a way to copy over my settings or database? I have tons and tons of prices stored up from a loooong time. i would be lost without this, how can this be done?

    Thanks

The easiest way i know of is copy over your wtf folder. everything you want is in there. but if you just want individual files then anything with auc-stat_*.lua, beancounter.lua would be a good start.

    Reply Report Permalink
  • AdultX said

Already tried that, copied the whole wtf folder for that character and none of my prices are stored. Anyone have any other ideas?

    Reply Report Permalink
  • swiggi said

not for the character, the WHOLE wtf folder. Auctioneer isnt character specific so the files you want are in WTF/Account/SavedVariables
You can copy that folder over, but he suggested the whole WTF folder because it will copy all the settings for all your addons for all characters. But liek he said the Auc-stat_* files are the ones you want, but they are stored in WTF/Account/SavedVariables not the specific character.

I haven't actually done any troubleshooting to resolve this problem, but items that I craft to disenchant seem to have lost their tooltip that shows what they disenchant into. All other items still show what they disenchant to, just not the several items I've de'd

Try deleting or renaming your enchantrix.lua file in your wtf folder. after doing that double check all your settings in enchantrix to see if any changed.

Is there a way to get it to sort by percent (%) prices, from the lowest percent to the highest, regardless of how many items are in the stack?. As it is now If I sort by percent. The price might be 77% as the cheapest for 1 item, but if I go a few pages forward, for a stack with 5 pieces it might only be 69%. Is there a way to get the 5-piece stack to be listed first? Does what im asking make sense?

Sorting like that is auctioneer side so we can only do it page by page and not across the entire ah. its client side sorting not server side.

Is there a way to bring up an items tooltip with all it's pricing details without using mousehover over an item you see in-game? This excludes items you have bought and sold before, because I know where that is.

    Thanks.

  • I'm having a problem with the Snatch searcher. I really need an addon that does the Snatch function, searching for a list of materials that I always need and seeing if there are cheap auctions for them up. The problem I'm running into is that Snatch will return the same auction multiple times. So, if there is Bob putting a Cardinal Ruby up for 10g, that will appear on my list 4-5 times. This confuses me when I'm trying to make purchases. I think there is actually 5 Cardinal Rubies up for 10g, but when I go to purchase the second one it says it doesn't exist, because well... there was actually only one even though it showed 5. Why is this happening? I've gone back to just manually searching for mats because this became so annoying, but I want to find a way to make it work so that I can search for my 15+ different mats easily and quickly.

  • I have a problem, Auctioneer doesn't seem to work for me. I got the map Auc-Advanced but still when I look in the Addon tab in the character list it says "Dependency disabled" and the Auc-Advanced isn't there... I've tried to re-download it 2 times but it still doesn't work. Please help me!

What dependency is disabled or missing? it will tell you on the mouseover what is missing. try downloading from the auctioneer site and see if that helps.

Do you use Skinner? I ran into this problem when I started beta testing the Curse 4.0 client, for some reason Skinner automatically set itself to install the libraries separately. If you don't normally run libraries separately, then check your addons folder for addons that start with Lib. I had to uninstall and reinstall Skinner for this error to go away for me.

    Mulleboy666,

It appears that is an an error from that AceGui30sharedmediawidgets, not Auctioneer or any part of the Auctioneer Suite.
