AlphaMap v3.64.30100

https://www.paypal.com/en_GB/i/btn/btn_donate_SM.gif

Compatible with QuestHelper v0.46 and later

Includes Maps for Instances, Battlegrounds, & World Bosses, and the major non-Instance Cave systems

Basically, AlphaMap is a scalable, moveable, transparent WorldMap that the user can have on screen while they continue to play and interact with the world.

Move the AlphaMap by holding down Control & Alt keys, and moving via the yellow movement bars at the top and bottom of the map.

Supported by PartySpotter, and MozzFullWorldMap(Fan's Update).

Native support for MapNotes, Gatherer, MetaMapNotes, CTMapMod, FlightMap, AtlasLoot, and NotesUNeed

See Patch Notes / Change History for specific details of functional changes/bug fixes

FEATURES NOT TO MISS

- World Map replacement mode via the 'Mouse Interaction' checkbox in the Miscallaneous Tab of the Options. ALT-Clicking on the AlphaMap will allow you to zoom in/out via left/right clicks. Without the <Alt> key pressed, then AlphaMap will remain invisible to the mouse as per current functionality.

- World Map 'Compact' veiwing mode, which will trim the world map, and only show explorable areas; so that keeping the map up on screen uses even less space. The 'Standard'/'Compact' veiwing modes can be switched via a key binding. NOTE : A side affect of this will mean that characters won't see areas they haven't discovered yet. If you would like to use Compact viewing mode, but STILL be able to see ALL areas in the current Map, you will need to install 'MozzFullWorldMap (Fans Update)'

- Special Battlefield options for reporting positions and incoming. (Note that the Raid Group numbered icons in the pictures are only available with the 'PartySpotter' AddOn installed)

FEATURES IN MORE DETAIL

High Quality Instance Maps :

lots of options allowing you to change the scale, alpha, the display of notes, note backgrounds, map background, Instance Header and Footer information, instance legend, the ability to change the colour of the note and/or map backgrounds. Compatible with the latest versions of AtlasLoot (v1.60 and later). Atlas not required if you need to save memory. Instance settings are saved separately to the World Map settings, so you don't have to change the way AlphaMap is displayed every time you enter/exit an Instance. Or, save all Instance map settings separately allowing you to have different Instance maps set to different sizes, etc. Uncheck the box on the 'Dungeons' tab of the Options frame.

High Quality BattleGround Maps :

Minimap textured maps of Battlegrounds displaying all player units, and Battleground flags/objectives. In Warsong Gulch, extra flag icons record which players have picked up which flags. Left click on a flag to target the carrier. Right click the flag to bring up a menu allowing you to report the flag's position to Raid/Party/General chat. In Arathi Basin, the number of bases required to win is displayed next to your Faction's entry point. When ever the number of bases you need to win changes, a message is sent to your chat box to inform you of this. If you have the Scrolling Combat Text AddOn installed, then this message will also be displayed in the center of the screen. Right click on bases to report the number of incoming enemy to Raid/Party/General chat. In Alterac Valley, Right click on bases to report the number of incoming enemy to Raid/Party/General chat. As per all AlphaMap maps, the scale, alpha, and position of the maps can be changed and will be saved separately from the World Map settings or the Instance map settings. Or, save all Battleground map settings independantly from each other allowing you to show the large Alterac Valley map at a smaller scale than the small Warsong Gulch map - Uncheck the box on the 'Battlegrounds' tab of the Options frame.

World Boss Maps & Instance Exteriors Caves :

For example, maps for Gnomeregan dungeon (before you enter the Instance), Dire Maul exterior, and Maraudon Exterior; And zoomed minimap style maps for the World Bosses Lord Kazzak, Azuregos, and all 4 of the Four Dragons. All these maps are capable of displaying player units, and all save their settings spearately from each other, and from the World, Instance and Battleground maps.

All the above maps have AlphaMap notes detailing key locations, mobs, etc. These notes can be clicked to do one or more of the following : Left Click - If the note leads to another map, then that map will be displayed. e.g. links between LBRS/UBRS/BWL, DM maps, etc. - If the note has Loot noted for it, a small gold coin will be displayed next to it, and left clicking will show the AtlasLoot frame Righ Click will raise a menu with several possible options - You can leave a particular map note highlighted - In Battlegrounds, there are special options for reporting the number of enemy incoming on a base, or the location of a flag carrier - If you have NotesUNeed installed, then you can open a NotesUNeed note, or Send the NotesUNeed note text to your Raid/Party/Guild. i.e. store the tactics for a particular boss in a NotesUNeed note, and then send those tactics to your Raid via the right click menu for that boss on the AlphaMap.

    k,

Sorry for being AFK for a while... Real life impinges sometimes ;p

I've tried to reply to questions below individually so please scroll down and check your questions :)

I am busy trying to update bugs, & data, as well as including some new maps, as well as supporting the display of Players on Northrend Instance maps - will work best with PartySpotter ;p

Love alpha map first off, but noticed a glitch with it. When you have Altoholic installed it messes up the mail expire tab that pops up to warn you of mail that is about to expire. Just thought you should know hope you can fix problem

Any chance you could add support for Routes?

I'll have a look to assess how complicated it would be. If it turns out to be as easy to support from my side as QuestHelper was then no problem. If it turns out to be more complicated, then...

You could always ask the Routes author to support AlphaMap from their side too... ;)

    Will do. ;)

Oh...it supports the blizz map and cartographer so I'm assuming it shouldn't be too hard to pull into alphamap. Helluva assumption, I guess. :)

Found a little bug in AlphaMap_POI_Utilities: The marker for Yojamba Isle in STV is on the wrong island. It should be on the little island to the NW.

    I started using AlphaMap today.
I open the options panel and I can not access the Battleground and Dungeons tabs. They don't even show the correct label. The text is read and says something like AlphaMap 1... where the Battlegrounds tab should be.

The second and third tabs only relate to Instance/BattleGround/World boss style maps. To access them, you must have one of those kinds of maps open at the same time...

Check out the FAQ included in the zip file. It contains some VITAL information for first time users :)

Question before I download this. I stopped using QuestHelper because Carbonite has way more features and its helping in locations is much better IMO. My problem with Carbonite is it's "merge with minimap" option. When I zoom in, it shows the normal minimap extremely small... or if I move the location in the map, not the map itself, it will show the small map... and in the World Map it shows a mini-minimap as well. And if I change the transparency too much, I see the minimap buttons even though I have them set to hidden through Carbonite, as well as Titan Panel [MinimapControls] and maybe a few more as extra precautions. Though those may conflict with each other, the buttons get hidden from one addon or another... until I installed Carbonite. It does not do that when I don't have it merged but without it merged, I have 2 maps to look at, one for quests, and one for tracking various things. The question: If I install Alphamap, and select the "Merge with Minimap" option in Carbonite, will it merge with Alphamap and have all the features of both? Also, I like Alphamap as it has Instance/Raid/Battlegrounds maps of which Carb is extremely lacking... I have seen people commenting about stuff QuestHelper related but as Carb is a combo of QH, Cartographer, as well as a reworked Friends List and Quest Log UI, I would like to keep it if possible.

Sorry, I was kind of losing the will to live while reading that, and I'm not 100% familiar with Carbonite or how it 'merges' with the minimap, so perhaps you could summarise the question for me?

I will say that AlphaMap is completely separate from the original Blizzard Map or the Minimap so it is very unlikely that Carbonite will merge in to AlphaMap (unless they coded it specifically to do that (?))

As it is so separate from the original game maps - you should be able to download it and try it - it won't interfere with Carbonite. Sadly Carbonite does slightly interfere with AlphaMap and stops you from manually changing World maps through AlphaMap drop down boxes, etc. :(
Although I think you can still access AlphaMap Instance maps and BG maps succesfully :)

I ran into the same thing. It looks like if you want to use the MobMap functions with AlphaMap you need the add MobMap.
    http://www.mobmap.de/addon.php
But AlphaMapMobMap is just a plugin. You don't need it to use AlphaMap so you could uncheck that.

    Exactly right.

AlphaMap, and most of its plugins work on their own.

But people who use (or want to use) MobMap on AlphaMap need to enable AlphaMobMap also...

Similaraly for AlphaQuestHelper : you don't need to use it, it is only for people who also have QuestHelper, and want to see quest icons and trails on AlphaMap.

When I do BGs I like to keep a small map up all the time. However, when I die the map closes and I have to reopen it. Is there a way to keep it persistent through death?

It should be persistent through death. It is for me. I can only think you have a bug through some incompatibility with another AddOn :(

  • xperl conflicts with alpha map for me, it causes alpha map to constantly reset to the current zone map, so it's not possible to use mouse interaction using alt. I mean it is technically possible, but it resets to current zone map constantly, like every second, so it makes it unusable. When i load interface without xperl it doesn't happen, that's how i figured it's xperl that causing it. I have latest alpha map and latest xperl.
Interesting thing: when i "reinstalled" xperl it didnt happen for like a day or something. Then it started happening again. And btw this has been happening since the wotlk started.

If there is nothing that can be done to fix it with alpha map, can i at least get some clues or suggestions as where conflict might be happening so i could try to disable or delete that part of code in xperl?

Some AddOns have this effect :(

The AlphaMap Pause button can usually help - you should still be able to change the map manually yourself while the Pause button is in use...

  • I have the exact same issue as MrSmeagol. It's not really a huge issue, as when I need to zoom out, I use the regular game map.
