ActionSwap is a World of Warcraft addon that allows you to easily switch between one or more completely distinct action bar and key binding profiles.
This is useful in situations in which two people share an account (say, a kid and parent), or if you have that family member who comes over every once in a while and wants to play your character. You might want to allow them to change the action buttons and key setup freely, but at the same time want to preserve your own action bars and key bindings. My brother and I both have priests (on 2 different accounts), and sometimes I want to help him level, but I found it annoying that his key bindings were different than mine. This addon allows me to customize the bindings when I play without affecting his.
Notes:
- This addon currently does not swap actions on pet action bars.
- This addon does not swap key bindings set in other mods such as CT_BarMod or ItemRack.
- If you have 0 of an item, it may disappear from your action bar when switching profiles (i.e. ActionSwap can only place things on your action bar that you'd be able to select yourself)
Primary Commands:
- /as create <profile_name> - creates a new ActionSwap profile based on the current action bar and key binding setup.
- /as delete <profile_name> - deletes an ActionSwap profile.
- /as profile <profile_name> - switch to the given profile - this will replace your action bar and key bindings with those in the profile.
Other Commands:
- /as replace <profile_name> - replaces a profile with the current action bar and key binding setup.
- /as delete-all - delete all ActionSwap profiles.
- /as raise-spells - raise all spells in the current profile to their highest rank. This is useful because you may train a higher rank of a spell on one profile, and though it'll be updated on the action bar, it won't be updated on the other profiles.
There's no need to "save" a profile, changes are automatically detected and saved to the current profile. I also provide a special profile named 'custom', which is not saved. Switching to the 'custom' profile does not change your action bars or key bindings.
v1.0.7 (8/15/2009)
- Fixed an issue which prevented mount and critter buttons from being saved.
v1.0.6 (8/10/2009)
- Updated for WoW version 3.2.0, so it no longer displays as "out of date".
- Fixed the issue which made character-specific macros stop working.
v1.0.5 (11/15/2008)
- Updated for Wrath of the Lich King, so it no longer displays as "out of date".
- Altered the error reporting slightly to alleviate the "/as doesn't do anything" problem.
- I've verified that it still works great, though no new functionality has been added since the last release. As always, please report any bugs that you find, or features you'd like added.
v1.0.4
- Fixed a bug where raise-spells would remove actions from their slots.
- Updated for the new patch.
v1.0.3
- Fixed several problems that caused "profile does not match current setup" errors:
- Actions are now correctly removed from their slots when the profile being switched to contains actions which no longer exist.
- Fixed a problem where spells that were replaced by a higher rank (i.e. Warrior abilities) would disappear entirely from profiles not in use.
- Profiles are now correctly updated when actions can't be found.
v1.0.2
- Removed erreneous "Error: Profile doesn't exist" message that sometimes showed when in the 'custom' profile.
v1.0.1
- Upgrading spells at a trainer no longer causes an error.
- ActionSwap will no longer unbind keys bound by other mods.
- ActionSwap will now check if bindings don't match the profile as well as action bar items.
- Swapping action bars containing character-specific macros now works correctly.
- Various other bug fixes and improvements.

Installation Guide
- Exit "World of Warcraft" completely
- Download the mod you want to install
- Make a folder on your desktop called "My Mods"
- Save the .zip/.rar files to this folder.
- If, when you try to download the file, it automatically "opens" it... you need to RIGHT click on the link and "save as..." or "Save Target As".
- Extract the file - commonly known as 'unzipping'
Do this ONE FILE AT A TIME!
- Windows
- Windows XP has a built in ZIP extractor. Double click on the file to open it, inside should be the file or folders needed. Copy these outside to the "My Mods" folder.
- WinRAR: Right click the file, select "Extract Here"
- WinZip: You MUST make sure the option to "Use Folder Names" is CHECKED or it will just extract the files and not make the proper folders how the Authors designed
- Mac Users
- StuffitExpander: Double click the archive to extract it to a folder in the current directory.
- Verify your WoW Installation Path
That is where you are running WoW from and THAT is where you need to install your mods.
- Move to the Addon folder
- Open your World of Warcraft folder. (default is C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\)
- Go into the "Interface" folder.
- Go into the "AddOns" folder.
- In a new window, open the "My Mods" folder.
- The "My Mods" folder should have the "Addonname" folder in it.
- Move the "Addonname" folder into the "AddOns" folder
- Start World of Warcraft
- Make sure AddOns are installed
- At the Character Select screen, look in lower left corner for the "addons" button.
- If button is there: make sure all the mods you installed are listed and make sure "load out of date addons" is checked.
- If the button is NOT there: means you did not install the addons properly. Look at the above screenshots. Try repeating the steps or getting someone who knows more about computers than you do to help.
Translations
When you download a mod, please be sure that the mod is compatible with your translation of wow. Some mods only work on the US versions, while some only work on some of the various European versions. These variations are called "Localizations".
TOC Numbers (Out of Date Mods)
When Blizzard patches WoW, they change the Interface number. This means that all mods will be "out of date" unless or until the author releases a new version for that interface. Some people go into the .toc files and update the numbers themselves, but this is STRONGLY advised against as it will cause problems locating possible incompatibilities addons. When you log into WoW after a patch, you DO NOT have to delete your interface directory. All you have to do is simply tell WoW to ignore the interface numbers and load all the mods anyway. All you have to do is, while at the "character select" screen, look in the lower left corner and click on the "addons" button. A window will pop up listing all your installed mods.
If you look in the upper left corner of that window there should be a box that says "Load Out of Date AddOns". You want to CHECK this box. Now simply go into WoW normally and all your mods should load. As of the 1.9 patch, you will have to do this after EVERY patch/update that Blizzard posts! If you encounter any problems with a mod after a patch, please be sure to let the author of the mod know so they can fix it.

Mac Support
WoW addons are not platformed based. As such, they can be used on either Mac or PC. You can extract both .zip and .rar files on a Mac using StuffitExpander.
