  • About The Armorer (arena tool)
  •
    • The Armorer

The Armorer is programmed with AutoIT (www.autoitscript.com), it's a compact and fast tool which allows you to look up characters while in game. Because The Armorer is 100% standalone it does not attach or connect to World of Warcraft it's game files in any way, making it completely legal (for those who wondered). The Armorer can be the deciding tool for your arena targetting and tactics.

    • How does it work?

The Armorer is made for seriouse arena players. If you, for example, want to know the build of that warlock inside the arena, you just press F9 and a window will popup where you enter the realm- and character name. This will then instantly pull the most important data from the armory while you can continue playing. Without having to wait, alt-<tab> out of the game or manually go to the armory. When you received the wanted information (takes ~1 sec) you can press OK and you will automatically return back to the game.

    • ToDo

> Always-on-top transparent window (looks like it's merged within the game, while it's still a seperate window and program - 100% standalone (requires in-game windowed mode))

> Easy to use and good looking interface

> Option to remember region (US or EU)

> Option to search for a name and show all characters that are in a predefined battlegroup and are level 70

    • Notes

1. Please report any bugs/suggestions/tips and/or supportive critics.

2. Please report any suggestions that, in your opinion, should be added to the ToDo.

3. The tool will download http://195.248.77.10/~esport/check_version.ini at launch, this is a simple .ini configuration file that informs the tool whether it's still up to date. Just check it in your browser and you'll see ;)

This is a great tool. You should think about making it customizable to show whatever stats the user wants to. I actually came across it when searching for a tool to do gear checks for minimum raid requirements. It would be nice to be able to check defense, AP, bonus healing, etc. for such purposes.

    Hi kpt2008,

Unfortunately only US and EU is supported. This is because I have no idea how to handle or work with chinese characters as these are used in the chinese version of The Armory.

Version 1.0.8 has been released! Just some minor updates like a reminder of what region you play in so you don't have to choose it again all the time.

If you have any suggestions for 2.0 please tell me.

It'd be nice if you could choose a default realm, but the default realm can also be changed later. Kind of annoying to type it in everytime, still a good program though.

    @ herrkabel,

Thanks for your comment. Unfortunately you'd have to let the Armorer look to the game itself, and that's not legal.

I will look into options on how to make it easier to input a character's name and server though, but The Armorer will always be standalone and 100% legal.

It would be awesome to get this thing working together with the "Gladiator" addon or something similar so you just could hover a player and it'd put name and realm in automatically so you don't have to write it.

1.0.6 released, fully compatible with todays Armory. It will also tell you when you have looked up too many characters in a short time instead of returning an error.

    Version 1.0.5 released!

New feature: talent name, The Armorer will now not only show the amount of points a character has in talents but also the shortname, such as Hybrid or Restoration. The Program will also tell you whenever The Armory is offline, instead of not returning anything.

Hey ;) thought this mod would be nice to check out, and saw that you don't have many replies :D.

Eitherway, I checked it out and it seems like it doesn't always work (on EU atleast, didn't check US) and it can't handle "wierd" letters (as å ä ö û etc.).

Just thought you wanted to know :).

PS. Says "Line -1: Error: Subscript used with non-Array variable." when searching for character with "wierd" letters, and "Character not found." when it won't work :).

Is there anyway to list the class of their partners? It would be insanely nice if when i typed in their name it brought up something that was like

    Realm: stormscale
    Name: Sodar
    Class: Hunter
    Talents: 0/42/19
    Health: 12065
    Mana: 6028

    2v2:
    0/40/22 Rogue

    3v3
    0/40/22 Rogue
    62/0/0 Paladin

Sort of thing... Even with maximum team size it would only extend the tooltip slightly. I don't think 5v5 would need to be listed... as it would be a bit redundant at that point.

Edit: in fact, even only listing class (if that saves time by not needing to look up talents) would be beneficial.

    @ Aenigma,

A great future, but also very time consuming. If you get the source of an armory file you'll receive a sweet XML file with all classes etc, but when calling a source with a program it will not recognize it as a XML browser thus showing the raw code, making this a bit harder to do.

I'll have a look at it and implement it if possible.

you could make an botton so you can see what Items he's wearing.
    or more stats.

  • Nov. 12, 2007, 02:43PM (6 months ago)

@ Sage, hmm remember that it's a tool designed for arena. What would be the advantage of seeing his items? You could aswell check the armory for that.

The Armorer is designed to be an easy to use and fast tool to instantly check the most important statistics about a specific arena target. Thus, to reply to your suggestion to add more stats. What stats would you need more that would change your target order decision?

I was thinking of adding the option to search for an arena team which would then give all important stats of all their members, anyone interested?
