QuestGuru replaces the standard Quest Log and adds a quest history which shows all quests completed since you installed the addon. QuestGuru utilizes a side-by-side display to list more quest titles, and more of the quest text, without having to scroll as much.
Installation Guide
- Exit "World of Warcraft" completely
- Download the mod you want to install
- Make a folder on your desktop called "My Mods"
- Save the .zip/.rar files to this folder.
- If, when you try to download the file, it automatically "opens" it... you need to RIGHT click on the link and "save as..." or "Save Target As".
- Extract the file - commonly known as 'unzipping'
Do this ONE FILE AT A TIME!
- Windows
- Windows XP a built in ZIP extractor. Double click on the file to open it, inside should be the file or folders needed. Copy these outside to the "My Mods" folder.
- WinRAR: Right click the file, select "Extract Here"
- WinZip: You MUST make sure the option to "Use Folder Names" is CHECKED or it will just extract the files and not make the proper folders how the Authors designed
- Mac Users
- StuffitExpander: Double click the archive to extract it to a folder in the current directory.
- Verify your WoW Installation Path
That is where you are running WoW from and THAT is where you need to install your mods.
- Move to the Addon folder
- Open your World of Warcraft folder. (default is C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\)
- Go into the "Interface" folder.
- Go into the "AddOns" folder.
- In a new window, open the "My Mods" folder.
- The "My Mods" folder should have the "Addonname" folder in it.
- Move the "Addonname" folder into the "AddOns" folder
- Start World of Warcraft
- Make sure AddOns are installed
- At the Character Select screen, look in lower left corner for the "addons" button.
- If button is there: make sure all the mods you installed are listed and make sure "load out of date addons" is checked.
- If the button is NOT there: means you did not install the addons properly. Look at the above screenshots. Try repeating the steps or getting someone who knows more about computers than you do to help.
Translations
When you download a mod, please be sure that the mod is compatible with your translation of wow. Some mods only work on the US versions, while some only work on some of the various European versions. These variations are called "Localizations".
TOC Numbers (Out of Date Mods)
When Blizzard patches WoW, they change the Interface number. This means that all mods will be "out of date" unless or until the author releases a new version for that interface. Some people go into the .toc files and update the numbers themselves, but this is STRONGLY advised against as it will cause problems locating possible incompatibilities addons. When you log into WoW after a patch, you DO NOT have to delete your interface directory. All you have to do is simply tell WoW to ignore the interface numbers and load all the mods anyway. All you have to do is, while at the "character select" screen, look in the lower left corner and click on the "addons" button. A window will pop up listing all your installed mods.
If you look in the upper left corner of that window there should be a box that says "Load Out of Date AddOns". You want to CHECK this box. Now simply go into WoW normally and all your mods should load. As of the 1.9 patch, you will have to do this after EVERY patch/update that Blizzard posts! If you encounter any problems with a mod after a patch, please be sure to let the author of the mod know so they can fix it.

Mac Support
WoW addons are not platformed based. As such, they can be used on either Mac or PC. You can extract both .zip and .rar files on a Mac using StuffitExpander.

MrOBrian saidI have updated QuestGuru to 0.9.4, but this website is so screwed up right now that it won't let me upload a new version. This isn't the first time I've had major problems with this website, so I'm just going to stop trying to update it here. For the latest version of QuestGuru, please go to http://wowui.worldofwar.net/?p=mod&m=4855
To answer a few of the posts below:
In general, if you are having a MAJOR problem, it is because of another addon (or something else really wrong with your computer/game). MINOR problems could be because of QuestGuru, but it works just fine for the majority of people who use it.
Empty tabs are not shown, with the exception of the "Current" tab. If you haven't completed or abandoned any quests since installing QuestGuru, those tabs will not show up. If you have completed or abandoned quests, and the tabs still don't show up, then some other addon is changing quest information, and QuestGuru isn't able to properly save it.

Ariadic saidI have been using this mod for quite a bit, and I really like it. However, today, after I upgraded Tom Tom and Lightheaded, it started acting wonky. Now, when I open my quest log, the only quest that displays on my active tab is the first quest - I don't have a list for my other quests. I even went and accepted a new quest to see if it would add it, and it doesn't. I uninstalled Lightheaded and Tom Tom, but Quest Guru still won't display my quests; any ideas?

Peyana saidNot sure if it is a bug or not, or if I have a different version on my other computer, but it allows me to anchor the bottom of the tracker so that as I add quests, it moves up instead of down. Is this a version difference and if so, can we get that feature back?

Sytar saidThe small quest tracker that shows on the screen dosn't appear to be moveable. HOWEVER I had moved the original Blizzard quest tracker, and this one appears to have followed it to the new location. How do you move/hide the quest tracker???

IronBoarder saidI've been using this addon for awhile now and I really like it. It would have everything I'm looking for if had just one more thing though: a slide bar in the options somewhere to control the transparency of the quest log window. I would post this as a feature request but I didn't see a place for that. So ya, in some future version I would like to be able to control the transparency of the quest log window.

Amethy saidJust downloaded this mod today - so far love it! However, I do not have the name of the quest giver and coords on there like the picture up above (the started and finished by with coords - just the name in blue in a paragraph). Is there something I am missing? maybe another addon I have that is interfering? Any help is appreciated and thanks in advance

MrOBrian saidcarsono311 - Only quests that get added to the quest log will transfer into the History, so that's probably what you are seeing, instant finish quests don't show up in the History.
Anjalena - Not sure what to tell you about the quest text moving around, that's an odd problem. Have you recently installed any new addons that might change the text somehow?
lexieuk - The tracker, just like most windows in most user interfaces, can be moved using the title bar area at the top of it. If you have disabled the mouse for the tracker, then of course this will not work, and you will need to re-enable the mouse in order to move it.

Anjalena saidDoesn't this addon normally hide the Blizzard quest tracker? On my old account it did. But I logged on to my friend's account tonight for a few minutes and I have the Quest Guru tracker, AND the Blizzard quest tracker both showing on my screen. =( What'd I do wrong? *giggle*

Heenan saidYou are seeing QuestHelper's auto prioritization. As you get closer to quest objectives it is sorting your quests based on which is closest. It is a really nifty feature, and one that I now can't live without.

Anjalena saidOne more thing I'm noticing.. and I've NEVER seen this before in all my 3 years of playing WoW. The text in the Blizzard quest tracker is moving around! Like the text from one quest will change places with another one... but it's not a quick switch. It's a smooth moving around from bottom to middle, etc. Has anyone ever seen this? Ever? I'm beginning to think my friend's account has a ghost. *rofl*

carsono311 saidWell, really just the former.
For instance, as a Draenei Paladin the first time you talk to your trainer at level 2, he is a quest giver. The quest starts and ends with him only talking to you and then you get your first skills. As such, it would probably not be added to a quest log, yet I assume it should still add to the history...
I know this is a somewhat petty notification/request, but I was just wondering why this is? Thank you!

MrOBrian saidPeyana - First of all, double post of a VERY large post, and this site won't let me delete one of them, so please delete one yourself if it will let you. Second, you are using an outdated version of QuestGuru, please upgrade and see if the issue is resolved.
carsono311 - I'm not sure what you mean by QuestGuru not adding class quests... Do you mean it's not saving them to the History? Or are they not showing up in the log or tracker?
azure_ame - When changing Announcer options, be sure to click the "Okay" button at the bottom of the window. Clicking cancel, hitting escape, or using the "X" in the upper right corner will cause the changes to not be saved.
