- About Black List
New name: Black List (was BlackList Continued)
This addon is Blacklist Addon update - http://www.curse.com/downloads/details/8426/ - with integrations and bug corrections.
What is Black List?
Black List is a World of Warcraft addon that adds a new players list (called "Black") to your Friends Tab on the Social Panel, near Friend List, Ignore List and Mute List.
You can store players level, class, race, and a reason for blacklisting them.
Black List automatically warns you (if you want) with sound and text if you encounter a player in List, and ignore him (if you want) rejecting whispers and party invites.
How I use it?
It's easy to add someone to your Black List! You can:
- right click con the Target frame and shift click on "Add to BL" menu;
- click the "Add Player" button on "Black" tab in Friends Tab on the Social panel;
- type /blacklist (or /bl) into your chat box.
For the slash command, you may also specific the reason with the name, "/blacklist <Name> <Reason>".
If you have someone targeted, Black List will add them and populate the details automatically. If you mouse over him, Black List automatically update information for that player.
"Ignore player" checkbox will toggle ignoring someone's communications (excluding BG chat) and party invites.
"Warn me" checkbox will toggle warning you with text if the player in list name appears with /who command or in Who tab in Social Panel, or you receive a whisper or a party invite from the person be in the same party as them; it also warns you with text and sound if you target them or mouse over them.
You can also edit their level, class, and race by clicking the "Edit" button on the details popup or edit the reason by clicking on the textbox and typing.
To remove someone, click their name in the Black List and click the "Remove Player" button or type /removeblacklist (or /removebl) <Name> into the chat box.
Why should I use it?
For people of the same faction, think about ninjas (for example people that need objects useless for them), or people that use blasphemies insted of commas, or who leaves a party without reason, or "bad player", etc.
For people of the other faction, think about people attacking you while you're in combat, or camping you, or attacking you only when they have a lvl 70 friend near them, or "/rasp" and "/spit" you in neutral cities... do you need other examples? :)
Compared to Ignore List, Black List can be very useful because you can add a reason to a player, and it remembers the names and the "why" about people for you. ;)

siv0968 saidAdding "friendly" player support can be useful but it could take a long time. So there's no ETA for this feature. I wish to find more time in future. :)

Moofire saidGreat addon!
Any way you could add a notification when someone on your Blacklist speaks in chat? Like coloring their name, or something simple like that?

siv0968 saidHmmm... I'm trying to cover all possible chat system, adding a statement after someone in list speak. Little by little all chat events will be covered. :D

Nko saidI thought at first this Add-on was Great, but my black list has suddenly been deleted apparently by itself. It cant be a wow bug, since I used many others Addon and never had that kind of problem. So beware this addon is corrupt...

Bramengrin saidThank you for this addon. It is an unfortunate fact that for the sake of self -defense that this is such a vital and needed function. I use it every day and I daresay that it has saved me many a bad experience.
For Goodness sake, (Literally) Please add a way to also track those who provide a needed save or a buff or just a good samaritan that happens along and helps on an escort quest. We have all encountered these people on both horde and alliance side and they make this game worth playing and deserve to be remembered. I believe you could actually make a positive difference. Thank you again for your hard work.

Superwombat saidThe only limitation with addons like this, and karma, is that you have to have ALREADY had a bad experience with someone in order to list them. It sure would be handy if there was a way to populate the data so you could tell if someone was already blacklisted by someone else before you group with them. I understand there are some issues with making this data public. Perhaps something like a "Greylist" of people who have been blacklisted by others? Ideally it would be great to see this as an opt-in feature to broadcast your ratings to an addon channel.

Jindukun saidIs there anyway to have this ignore people in trade chat too? That is where I get the majority of my ignores and downloaded this in hopes of expanding my full ignore list with the added bonus of reminding myself why they were ignored.

siv0968 saidThis is a great idea, I'll try to intercept trades of people ignored in Black List. If you'll see a new version in next days... you'll know the reason :)

Jindukun saidJust wanting to make sure you understood what I was getting at. Here's an example of an old situation that we had on our server:
[2. Trade] [PlayerA]: [The Nicker]?
[2. Trade] [PlayerB]: [The Nicker]?
[2. Trade] [PlayerA]: [The Nicker]?
[2. Trade] [PlayerB]: [The Nicker]?
What I would like to do is be able to click on both of these players names in trade chat and select black list and have it ignore them in trade chat as well, just like ignore does.
We have a very large number of spammers on our server so my ignore list is already full. Thankfully [The Nicker] was renamed but they always find new ways to annoy everyone in trade chat.

yoshikopriest saidSaw your post under the blacklist from http://wow.curse.com/downloads/details/6119/ about this updated version. I tried it out and loved it but am hesitant about using this version as it wont show my old blacklist names in the blacklist.lua file in the saved variables folder. Is there anyways to copy it over without having to manually retype them all or go in and convert them to the new format? Im just curious because I have roughly 400-500 names in the blacklist so it would take forever unless someone knows a shortcut =p

siv0968 saidSend me at a.donati@gmail.com a copy of your black list in WTF directory (verify it opening with notepad or similar), so I can try to create a code to convert it.

spawnstah saidI just tried it out fast and I noticed that a player who is Muted or Black Listed can still whisper you. Can you add a block for that so those players gets ignored. And also, I would like that a player who is ignored by the addon gets a notification about that; "You are Muted/Black Listed by me, due to: <insert Note>"
The addon IgnoreMore is quite popular, and would be nice to be able to import all players+notes from that addon into BlackList. And finally, just like IgnoreMore please add todays Date automatically to when you added someone to the list.
I also noticed, when i entered a player or note i could not hit <enter> button but had to click accept.

siv0968 said- If you check "Ignore Player" in the player details, you'll ignore his whispers.
- If a player is "ignored" in Black List, he can still whisper you, but he'll receive the message "Player is ignoring you".
- The reason is never displayed to others because it's a private statement. For example, I could put one in Black List cause he's "stupid" but if he asks me why (by mail for example) I'd use different words like "not compatible with my thoughts" :D
- About Date, Black List automatically save the date when you add a player. You can see it in player details (open Black List and click on a name).
- There's no plan to add IgnoreMore import feature, but meantime if a player wants to add to Black List this ability, he'll add all my efforts to keep update this addon in sites like Curse and others.

taerie saidThis is the most useful mod I have!!! I recommend it to everybody. I, like everybody else would love to see the addition of a whitelist for people who have been especially nice or helpful. I love the ominous gong sound to announce the bad guy. (Maybe we could have a soft harp sound or something like that to announce the nice guy?:-)
Anyway, Thanks SOOO much for maintaining this add on!
