Description of Outfitter

Outfitter allows you to create multiple outfits and equip them with a click of your mouse. You can layer outfits, create outfits optimized for a particular attribute (ie, fire resist or maximum defense), and have outfits which automatically equip based on events like mounting up, stealthing or changing stances and forms.

The user's manual is available online

What's new in Outfitter 4

The biggest new thing is Special Occasion and Mix-n-Match categories are gone. The Special Occasion outfits are now regular outfits with preset scripts attached. There are presets for all of the old special occasion outfits as well as several other useful scripts. This makes it possible to remove or rename any outfit you wish as well as to customize the behavior any outfit. Outfitter 4 also fixes several features which were broken by the release of WoW 2.0.

Important information about upgrading to Outfitter 4

Upgrading to version 4 will upgrade your outfits to eliminate the old categories and convert them to the new system. Versions prior to 4 will not work properly with the updated outfit data. If you want to be able to revert to earlier versions while trying out version 4 you will need to backup your Outfitter data file before upgrading and then restore that file before downgrading. The file to save can be found at "World of Warcraft\WTF\Account\{login id)\(realm)\(character)\SavedVariables\Outfitter.lua"

I have a question, I tried to ask before but Curse is being broken and wont lemme scroll to see what I posted, and it kept giving errors when I tried to post.

Anyway, is there any way to prioritize accessory layers? I switch into cat or bear gear, but I have a few items I only use for soloing, and a few I use in groups. I want to make outfits to layer overtop of the existing cat or bear form, but only when I am grouped. I dont need a trinket that heals me, I need more DPS. But in solo mode, I need all the heals I can get. So far every attempt to do this gets overwritten the first time I shift into cat or bear, the group-only item gets unequipped in favor of the solo item in my normal cat or bear outfit.

    So is this possible?

Ya, removing the tabard seemed to work. Odd. Why does it do that?

Outfitter works by building up your current outfit by layering each equipped outfit on top of one another, but it has to have something to start with. The Complete outfits provide the base layer which it starts with before overlaying your equipped Accessory outfits. Previous versions didn't enforce having a Complete outfit selected which caused problems for Outfitter (it gets confused by the missing slots in the final outfit). I changed it to always ensure a Complete outfit is selected by having it select the previous Complete outfit whenever you unequip the current Complete outfit.

Previous versions also used to always make automated outfits Accessory outfits, even if they used every slot like a Complete outfit. This was fine for many people and is why it used to work fine for you, but it meant that a Complete outfit couldn't be automated and still be treated as a Complete outfit. This caused problems for people who wanted their base layer to be automated.

Now I allow automation on Complete outfits, which means your Cat outfit with every slot enabled is no longer an Accessory but a Complete outfit instead. What's happening to you is that when you shift out of Cat form it unequips your Cat outfit, but since your Cat outfit was Complete it had to come up with another Complete outfit to replace it with and it chose the most recent Complete outfit you were wearing, which was your healing outfit.

Removing one slot from the Cat outfit turned it back into an Accessory and stopped it from affecting your selected Complete outfit.

Is the healing set and/or the Cat set a Complete outfit?

If your Cat outfit is Complete, then the behavior will be different now because when you unequip a Complete outfit it will always equip your previous Complete outfit.

You can try disabling one slot in the Cat outfit (your Tabard or Shirt slot for example) so that it isn't a Complete outfit.

Healing, Cat and Bear are all complete outfits. I did forget to mention that even if i switch to cat outfit, then go cat, it puts me back in healing gear when I come out. The bear and cat outfits have scripts attached (in case i forget to equip them, its not like i can see what im wearing in a form :P) them and the healing outfit doesnt. Maybe it has something to do with that.

Love the mod, have been using it since i can remember. Just one thing i've noticed on my druid that kinda bugs me. In the old Outfitter when i would go cat it would keep on my cat form gear when i go back to caster form. Now it switches to my healing set when I go to caster form. I even delted the "Caster Form" set and my healing gear set. I remade the healing gear set again, not caster form, with no scripts and it still switches to it when i go caster form. What can i do to fix this.

Sorry its soo long, but i feel a well described problem is easier to fix.

  • May 14, 2008, 05:03PM (1 day, 20 hours ago)

Hello I'm a feral druid (lol), and I have a tanking and dps set. I have the season three feral helm for tanking and I am considering about pissing away another crap load of points on another for a dps set, and I was wondering if Outfitter would recognize the difference between the two helms. Any reply would be appreciated.

Outfitter can distinguish same items, yes. This is the only outfit mod I know of where this feature actually works.

I am having a issues with unique-equip gems.
I have head piece with Eye of the Sea.
I have same gem on shoulder piece on different set of gear.
When I switch from one set to another, I get error saying I can't wear 2 of the same gems.

Is there any way to make it work?

  • May 14, 2008, 05:17AM (2 days, 8 hours ago)

It should work, but I might've gotten the enchant ID wrong for that gem. If you're running 4.2.1, use this command

    /outfitter iteminfo [ItemWithSocketedGem]

Where [ItemWithSocketedGem] is a link to your helm or shoulder. The last 4 lines will be four JewelCodes, one of them should be 1068 for Eye of the Sea. If none of them are, let me know what the non-zero numbers are and I'll correct it.

  • May 14, 2008, 02:27PM (1 day, 23 hours ago)

The code I am getting is 3268

  • May 14, 2008, 05:06PM (1 day, 20 hours ago)

Cool, thanks! I'll get that corrected then.

The reason I get it wrong sometimes is that there's no direct relationship between the gems item code and the enchant code that gets embedded in the item link once it's socketed. So I have to look up the gem to get the stats, then use WoWWiki to figure out the equivalent enchant code that gives those same stats. Sometimes there are several enchant codes with the exact same stats, so I'm left to guess which one is the correct one for that gem. Looks like I guessed wrong on Eye of the Sea :)

Just FYI, I edited cUniqueEquippedGemIDs and 3268 works good for Eye of the Sea.

srry this is such a noobers question..but when i go into wow how do i know if outfitter has been load or is there something i need to type in to call it up to get it started..

  • May 13, 2008, 02:42AM (3 days, 10 hours ago)

You should see a button on the minimap and a button in your character window for accessing Outfitter if it's loaded.

The user's manual is available online here or you can find it in Outfitter's Documentation folder if you need help with general usage.

Will this mod take the items out of the bank for you when making armor sets?

  • May 13, 2008, 02:39AM (3 days, 10 hours ago)

Yes, if you're talking to a banker then items in the bank can and will be used to generate outfits as well as to equip outfits. Keep in mind that Outfitter, like WoW itself, swaps items "in place" most of the time, so equipping an outfit directly from the bank means equipped items replaced by a banked item will end up in the bank.

You can also use the Deposit/Withdraw items in the menu next to any outfit to move the items for that outfit into and out of the bank directly. There's a "Deposit unique items" option as well which only deposits gear that is only used in that outfit.

When using the "Stamina" or "Health" automatic outfits, it does not use some of my items. Is it ignoring enchants or gems or something?
