  • About Cooling
  •

This addon will consists of 12 movable icons that will popup and show any items or spells that are on cooldown. Cooldowns are always ordered by their ending time. If several items and spells have the same ending time only one icon is shown for them. Also Scrolling/Floating combat text messages can be shown.

This addon is mainly aimed for (keyboard) players that don't want to flood their UI with hundreds of action icons, but still want to track abilities that are on cooldown.

IMPORTANT: This is Cooling 1 (classic) - Cooling 2 is now separate addon. If you wish for high but complex configurability check Cooling 2.

IMPORTANT: Development and support of this addon is discontinued since I no longer play WoW.

Quick setup
Call "/cooling setup", move icons where you want them (maybe use scale option too) and call "/cooling setup" again.

Usage (slash commands)
/cooling (or /cooldown or /cool)
/cooling setup -- Toggle setup mode.
/cooling refresh [on/off] -- Refresh cooldowns or setup automatic refresh
/cooling digital [on/off] -- Toggle digital cooldown display.
/cooling shadow [on/off] -- Toggle clockvise cooldown shadow frame.
/cooling [general/pet/equipment/bag] [on/off] -- Toggle general/pet/equipment/bag cooldowns.
/cooling alpha [num] -- Set transparency 0.0 .. 1.0.
/cooling scale [num] -- Set scaling - suggested values 0.5 .. 2.0.
/cooling min [time] -- Set minimum tracking time.
/cooling max [time] -- Set maximum tracking time.
/cooling sct [time/off] -- Disable SCT notification or set minimum tracking time.
/cooling copy [character] -- Copy button locations from <character>'s config.
/cooling reset [layout] -- Reset display positions

Be warned that giving nonnumerical value for options alpha, scale, min and max will spawn lua error. This might be fixed in future by providing better settings interface.

When I cast something, a little fish shows up in the cooldown area to show the global cooldown. Is there any way to get rid of that fish? It just annoys me. Thanks.

How can i move the textframe?

I mean the frame where stands "<insert cast> is ready".

Thanks for help, its a great addon.

  • March 16, 2008, 04:28PM (3 months, 3 weeks ago)

    @Mongowombat

Moving the text frame is not directly possible since Cooling uses either Scrolling combat text or Flowing Combat Text defaults.

If you use SCT you should be able to modify it from SCT options. If you use Blizzard FCT then I believe you don't have options to modify it until I have reviewed this feature and maybe tweaked it.

I <3, fixed the problem NP. I didn't have the scrolling text enabled cause I used a scrolling text addon.....Your workaround fixed it perfectly! :)

Random question though, what is the unit of time the duration is set in?

I.E I'm trying to make it so my hearthstone cooldown doesn't show up, but my potion one DOES. What would I need to do?

Love the addon now, works perfectly.

    @l337g0dz

Time is in seconds. Use decimal point in numbers if you want more accuracy (like 1.5 = 1 and a half second).

Please help me, I have no idea how to setup the cooldowns.
I already did /cooling setup, but now I don't know to put my spells compatible with it

I want to see the cooldowns of my spells on my target.

Hmmm... I think i know why this error occurs...

It only happens if you haven't enabled Flowing Combat Text feature in Game Menu -> User interface, but you have told cooling to use that feature.

    Workaround:
Command "/cooling sct off" to disable all scrolling combat text requests.
Or make sure that you have enabled Flowing combat text in game settings.

Been using it for a few days now, great addon.
I was wondering if there is a way (I am sure there is) to disable long cooldowns, such as the long 1hr Hearthstone. Is it a rule I have to set up..? if anyone could please show me how that would be great.

    Cheers

Just confirming what draca has said. When I type /cooling rule clear, it says "Rulesets Cleared" and thereafter I cannot add any rules of my own. However if, after doing that, I type /cooling rule reset, I can add rules of my own. FYI, the ruleset I used to test this was /cooling rule ins 1 1 0 1.5 6 Earth Shock.

Thanks for the great work so far btw :), took me some time to figure out the settings. I'd just like to ask what <num> means in the rulesets? In your example (on Blast Wave/Dragon's Breath earlier) it was set to 0 but I can't see any difference when I set it to other numbers.

Edit: Worked around this problem by manually deleting the default rulesets e.g. /cooling rule del 0 0 0.

    @ Beelzey

Ok - this (/cooling rule clear) sounds a clear bug - I'll fix it asap.

<num> is more use when you delete rules. When you have several rules with the same target and source, they differ by <num>. It is the order of testing. But since all rules are "accept" rules order really does not matter.

This is a fantastic mod. If there was one mod I can no longer go without, it is definitely Cooling. However, I have to say this. Cooling2 is a step in the wrong direction. While Cooling2 has all the options that classic Cooling has, the amount of setup involved seems out-of-hand, and the lack of documentation left me puzzled at how to customize this mod. The Rule set seems especially cumbersome. I could not find how to turn digital countdown off on all the icons simultaneously, so I had to type in targets 1-15 for every icon, resulting in 15 entered commands as compared to Cooling Classic's one. Cooling Classic's system of setting the maximum cooldown duration was easy and straightforward. I've yet to understand how to do the same option using Cooling2's rule system.

This could be THE premiere cooldown mod, but as it stands the updated Cooling has an option menu that could stand some revamping.

Thank you for your consideration and keep up the great mod.

I am having an issue where I try clearing all the default rulesets then try to add my own and nothing happens. It doesn't give me an error or anything it just does nothing. Then when I type in /cooling rule list there's no rules listed.

I really like this mod but I just want to see certain spell cooldowns and not all of them. Is the above issue a bug or should I not clear the rulesets?

  • Nov. 18, 2007, 02:47PM (7 months, 3 weeks ago)

Hmmm... I'll look into this. But it sounds like you are trying to add rules by erroneous command. Please note that if you don't give some value or there is non-numerical value then you might get lua error. Also if you have set not to show lua errors in WoW interface settings then you don't get any error.

Very small thing - when you upload an updated mod, could you make sure you upload Cooling2 last please? At the moment, the WoW UI Updater <http://wuu.vagabonds.info/> can only download the first most recent upload from curse, so it keeps grabbing me Cooling classic instead of Cooling2. :)

Either that or start a new page for Cooling2...?

Of course, if Cooling classic is still your recommendation, then it's all good! :-)

Many thanks for a great mod.

  • Nov. 16, 2007, 02:02PM (7 months, 3 weeks ago)

Cooling2 is default download - At least in curse.com. Reason why they are in ridiculous order is that current UI of curse.com lack chancing some options after you uploaded files (like removing beta-tag). I had to workaround this by re-uploading classic version (definitely not beta).

Hmmm... Separating these 2 add-ons might be good idea. Even that principle how they work are the same, mechanisms are totally different.

Great mod. Could you prepare some minimal documentation for the less tech-savvy users?

Also you might make a note to delete / disable the old version, as someone can run both Cooling2 and Cooling at the same time. I forgot to delete the old one and had them both running at once!

Just realized my second trinket slot isn't picking up on the cooldown list. Is that user error or a bug?
