Whiteboard allows the entire guild to draw on a shared whiteboard. Allowing you to play Pictionary, just doodle, or work on strategies (though a more strategic oriented version called Blackboard will be coming out in the addon pack called IMBA).
Left Click - Draws
Ctrl Click - Erases
Shift Click - Moves the window
If you close the window use /wb or /whiteboard to bring it back up and the box in the lower right hand corner lets you change the color you are using.
For Future Versions
Adding ability to choose Self/Party/Raid/Channel for transmitting messages on as well
Also setup to be able to see who is currently drawing
Installation Guide
- Exit "World of Warcraft" completely
- Download the mod you want to install
- Make a folder on your desktop called "My Mods"
- Save the .zip/.rar files to this folder.
- If, when you try to download the file, it automatically "opens" it... you need to RIGHT click on the link and "save as..." or "Save Target As".
- Extract the file - commonly known as 'unzipping'
Do this ONE FILE AT A TIME!
- Windows
- Windows XP a built in ZIP extractor. Double click on the file to open it, inside should be the file or folders needed. Copy these outside to the "My Mods" folder.
- WinRAR: Right click the file, select "Extract Here"
- WinZip: You MUST make sure the option to "Use Folder Names" is CHECKED or it will just extract the files and not make the proper folders how the Authors designed
- Mac Users
- StuffitExpander: Double click the archive to extract it to a folder in the current directory.
- Verify your WoW Installation Path
That is where you are running WoW from and THAT is where you need to install your mods.
- Move to the Addon folder
- Open your World of Warcraft folder. (default is C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\)
- Go into the "Interface" folder.
- Go into the "AddOns" folder.
- In a new window, open the "My Mods" folder.
- The "My Mods" folder should have the "Addonname" folder in it.
- Move the "Addonname" folder into the "AddOns" folder
- Start World of Warcraft
- Make sure AddOns are installed
- At the Character Select screen, look in lower left corner for the "addons" button.
- If button is there: make sure all the mods you installed are listed and make sure "load out of date addons" is checked.
- If the button is NOT there: means you did not install the addons properly. Look at the above screenshots. Try repeating the steps or getting someone who knows more about computers than you do to help.
Translations
When you download a mod, please be sure that the mod is compatible with your translation of wow. Some mods only work on the US versions, while some only work on some of the various European versions. These variations are called "Localizations".
TOC Numbers (Out of Date Mods)
When Blizzard patches WoW, they change the Interface number. This means that all mods will be "out of date" unless or until the author releases a new version for that interface. Some people go into the .toc files and update the numbers themselves, but this is STRONGLY advised against as it will cause problems locating possible incompatibilities addons. When you log into WoW after a patch, you DO NOT have to delete your interface directory. All you have to do is simply tell WoW to ignore the interface numbers and load all the mods anyway. All you have to do is, while at the "character select" screen, look in the lower left corner and click on the "addons" button. A window will pop up listing all your installed mods.
If you look in the upper left corner of that window there should be a box that says "Load Out of Date AddOns". You want to CHECK this box. Now simply go into WoW normally and all your mods should load. As of the 1.9 patch, you will have to do this after EVERY patch/update that Blizzard posts! If you encounter any problems with a mod after a patch, please be sure to let the author of the mod know so they can fix it.

Mac Support
WoW addons are not platformed based. As such, they can be used on either Mac or PC. You can extract both .zip and .rar files on a Mac using StuffitExpander.

Unulis saidThis addon was last updated for Game version 1.12.0, and since then most of the Lua commands that where used have been taken out, that's why you get the error message. Try looking for an update.

Alderon saidHi, tested Whiteboard and found it quite good.
Some suggestions for the Blackboard / further Whiteboard:
Raidleader can allow / disallow the Drawing within the Raid Raid-Channel for Datasync Check if everybody in Raid has Blackboard / Whiteboard on it Private Version for switching between Guildchannel and Private Channel for Drawing with friends in other guilds. Name, who is drawing (already mentioned in your text but for completation) Version, where you can scale the board size
A full painted Whiteboard is hard to pull around. Perhaps you can find something in there what reduces Data, that is saved in there.
Absolutely nice Version right now and functionable for what i want it.

Cryect saidLets say the communication method I worried was likely to do that hence this is a test program. Hadn't seen it occured when I released it but doesn't surprise me. Every little line is sending its own message essentially. I can easily improve that by a magnitude or so by grouping messages.

Regicide saidDo you actually need other guild members to have the addon in order for them to see it, or is there something you can type for guild members to see the whiteboard. By the way, great addon, think it would be better if you had extra tools i.e Fill in, or change the size of line etc.

Cryect saidUnfortunately everyone needs the addon. I do plan to allow for adjusting the line size and unfortunately for a fill in this would be overly complex due to WoW UI limitations.

Cartoonlord saidI am going to suggest this as one of my guild's required mods... it looks great, but the problem would be the whole guild has to have it.

Tronage saidHave the ability to insert graphic images rather then just the white screen.
This would allow leaders to creat dungeon maps of strats, and the include them in their private guild distribution. Then at raid time they could "draw" on the map they included to help guide others through the strat.
Also another option that would me nice, would be to have some sort of a "ping" the program could do that would scan the raid/party, then ping them to see who has the addon and is watching, and who is missing the addon. (sort of how CTRA has a resistance check, or a durability check, this would be a whiteboard check hehe)
looks very promising though and excited for future releases!

Jaahon saidThis is great for raiding but we live in a raid where not everyone is in the same guild...i.e. it would be nicer to have this thing communicate to raid as opposed to guild. And from that point also only allow (L) and (A) to draw on it too.
Would also be a massive fan of some kind of Clear button and if possible a way to write text onto it similar to the MS Paint interface.
Great addon, I think basic thing to say Cryect is if you can achieve an ingame board with the same functionality as MS Paint then you have an absolute winner.

johnbuns2 saidYou did what great UI modders like Gello and Iriel have only talked about doing. This shows a lot of promise for Blackboard. Being able to put the standard WoW icons on it is a must, keep us updated! =D

Regicide saidI think if it just had a small toolbar by the side of it like the program 'paint' does such as draws circles for you and stuff, it would really be good. And oh yea, to whoever wandered about raid maps, i think there is an addon that shows a raid map and allows you to draw about on it with arrows, sorry I can't link it to you but it was on the forums a few weeks ago.

Cryect said"- Ability to set the "radar" as the background" Few issues with this make it not so easy to implement though I have some various code I've developed that would allow to work around some of it.
"- Fix The fact that you can't press "enter" to type anymore while whiteboard is up." Hmm, I can't seem to replicate this problem unless I have the save window up. Which is an issue Blizzard UI has you can't unselect edit boxes if one is up.
"- Different Pen sizes" The 1.1 version supports different sizes.
"- Different pen shapes : same as the "raid icon" things" Unfortunately, the image you are working with is not a rasterized image and is vector art so not sure a good way to implement this.
