  1. !html

AuctionIt is a total auctioning system that enhances the auction house's functionality and keeps track of all your auctioning activity. Forget the tedious re-entry of prices into auction fields for item you commonly sell. Let AuctionIt enter the numbers for you! Worried about overbidding on items, especially when you're being hasty and forget to look closely at the item or the price? AuctionIt's BidSafe system can protect you. Bid confidently and reduce the effort of restocking your auctions. AuctionIt will do everything except farm the materials for you to auction!

VERSION
_______________________________________________________________________________

0.8.4 [06/17/2005]

INSTALLATION
_______________________________________________________________________________

Unzip the entire contents of AuctionIt.zip to your World of Warcraft game directoy. If you see a congratulatory message when you log in telling you AuctionIt is installed, then you should be all set. This message will only appear the first time AuctionIt is loaded. It won't repeat on subsequent loads.

This installation creates two folders in your AddOns directory, one called AuctionIt and one called Gryffon. Gryffon contains the base classes my AddOns are built from. It is not an AddOn itself but is needed to run AuctionIt.

USAGE
_______________________________________________________________________________

Type '/auctionit (or /ait)' for a list of available chat commands. Type '/auctionit (or /ait) config ' to bring up the configuration window.

LATEST
_______________________________________________________________________________

- Hopefully made the tooltip handling more friendly.

UPCOMING
_______________________________________________________________________________

- A large, new version is in the works. Unfortunately I don't have an estimate on its completion. I'm currently swamped with other projects I need to finish first. I hope to return to AuctionIt development in the next week or two.

FEATURES
_______________________________________________________________________________

- Saves a record of items you have listed for auction. When you list the same items again, your bid fields will automatically be populated for you.
- Tracks all of your auction activity. Detailed history logs of every item you list for auction, every item you bid on (including the name of the seller), and all the sales (successful auctions) you make.
- Totals tracking. If you track your auctions by stack size, the default, then AuctionIt will track totals such as how many of a specific stack you list for auction, how much is the total deposit you paid, and more. Even with tracking by stack turned off, AuctionIt still tracks totals by item type and grand totals of all your auction listings, bids, sales, expirations, outbids, and more.
- BidSafe with BidLock, a combined system that will help ensure you never again bid more than you intended to on an item. See below for a more detailed feature list of BidSafe.
- Integration with the mailbox so that the results of your auctions, sales, expirations, and outbids, can be tracked. AuctionIt will also gather the money out of your mailbox for you!
- Set the default auction length your auctions start with. No more forgetting to change the auction from 'medium' to 'long'.
- Set the default tab you start on. The game's default is to place you on the browse tab, but serious auctioners always want to hit their auctions tab first. Now your auctions tab can be the first one you see when you open the auction house.
- An extensive chat command system (GUI in a future release) that allows you to customize many aspects of AuctionIt. Virtually every setting can be set at the realm and player levels, so you can have a customized feature set for different realms and characters.
- A pricecheck command that allows you to look up prices for items you've listed for auction before. It will even scale prices for you. For example, if you regularly buy linen at 30s a stack and want to know what you should pay for a stack of 7, you can type /pricecheck 7 linen and it will do the math for you.
- All your bags by default are set to open when you visit the auction house, the mailbox, or the bank, then to close again when you leave. This can be turned off for any or all of these locations.

BIDSAFE
_______________________________________________________________________________

BidSafe with BidLock is an auction house security system that provides more detailed bid confirmation dialogs and even preventative measures to keep you from bidding more on an item than you thought you were bidding.
- Improved bid confirmation dialogs that even popup when placing bids, not just buyouts. Warnings will be shown if you bid more than the limits you have customized for yourself.
- The ability to limit the amount you will bid on items you have bid on before while using AuctionIt. This limit sets a percentage above your current highest bid on any specific item.
- The ability to set cash spending limits either in a fixed amount or based on a percentage of your total cash. Spending limits are a good backup if you are bidding on something that BidSafe has no past bidding information on.
- BidLock. This is a sub-feature of BidSafe. If enabled, BidLock will actually prevent you from bidding on an item that exceeds your limits! No more having to carefully inspect every bid to make sure no one slipped in a 30g price in that line of a dozen 30s items you were buying out. BidLock will prevent you from buying it! You may still bid on or buy an item after BidLock has locked it, but you have to type /bidsafe release in order to open the lock for that bid only.

  • Feb. 19, 2006, 01:44AM (2 years, 4 months ago)

@Hikari: "It does not do it for me. How to activate it?"

Install the release version of Auctioneer (.620) or later. Take a look on the Auctions tab when you have the AH window open. You will see a "Remember price" checkbox on the left side. Pretty close to impossible to miss.

@turranius: You don't need any other mod to remember prices if you use Auctioneer. If you are a serious auction person, Auctioneer is pretty much an essential (remembering prices is just a minor feature of it). http://auctioneeraddon.com is where to get the latest downloads and info. It is also here on Curse (not officially, though).

To get back the mail parsing in AuctionIt, change the lines near the beginning of AuctionIt.lua with the names of the AH mail senders to the following:

    AUCTIONIT_ALLIANCE_AH = "Alliance Auction House"; AUCTIONIT_HORDE_AH = "Horde Auction House"; AUCTIONIT_NEUTRAL_AH = "Blackwater Auction House";

I downloaded the auctionit version from 10/17/05 and when i try to add it on to the game is says that this addon is out of date... where can i get a current version? Help...please.

  • Feb. 22, 2006, 12:02PM (2 years, 4 months ago)

Just click the checkbox marked "Load out of date addons" on the addons screen.

  • Feb. 23, 2006, 01:13AM (2 years, 4 months ago)

@Saur: Thanks a lot! Your mail parsing (money collection notices) solution works perfectly. The notices are back. So looks like I will be continuing to use this thing for the foreseeable future.

@bsmorgan (1/28/06 message below): Your code idea for resolving the GUI option change screen not working doesn't work. After making the suggested code changes, it still throws up the error message listed by others and GUI changes are not saved. What other people below mention as to changing the options manually in AUCTIONIT.LUA _does_ work, though.

If any mod ever needed someone to take it over and update it (meaning a real update, not a lame TOC change), it is this one. It has continued popularity and features not found in anything else.

I believe the correct fix for the problem with not being able to click the save button when using /ait config is to add the following line first in the AuctionIt:SwapBidButtons function in AuctionIt.lua:

if( not self.AuctionFrameLoaded ) then return end

Also, it should always work to use /ait config after having visited an auction house, even without the change above.

@ Elcromo: "If any mod ever needed someone to take it over and update it (meaning a real update, not a lame TOC change), it is this one. It has continued popularity and features not found in anything else."

    Definiately!

I poked at the Auctioneer forums to see if I could get some of the features I found most useful in AuctionIt - BidSafe and realm specific prices saved, and got no help. The forum mod said the BidSafe feature is annoying and so wouldn't be added and I also got told that saving my sale prices realm specific would be a useless feature. It was a fairly rude response actually.

I dumped the Auctioneer mod that very day, and am sad that AuctionIt is no longer being supported. :(

I extracted both folders to my addons folder, but it won't work

    Any ideas?

  • July 21, 2006, 12:07AM (1 year, 11 months ago)

I'm gonna guess that it interferes with Auctioneer??

  • Feb. 17, 2006, 04:45AM (2 years, 4 months ago)

If all you want is your prices saved, search for EasyAuction here. It does not save the default timeframe though, so have to remember to click "24h" before setting your first auction.

  • Feb. 17, 2006, 02:05AM (2 years, 4 months ago)

"Auctioneer (continually updated) has since last October or so saved your auction prices".

It does not do it for me. How to activate it?

I only use ait to be remembered about prices. Which addon can do it now?

Here is a statement left by Turan on the Ace forum about his status with this and his other add ons.

Posted: Fri Jan 20, 2006 4:35 pm Post subject: About that time...

I think the time has finally come for me to move on from WoW permanently. I've pretty much lost my taste for coding in their environment, and I haven't really enjoyed the game itself in many months. With a slew of new games coming out soon, like DDO, The Chronicle, Dark and Light, and others, I can't see myself returning to WoW. In the meantime, I've gone back to EQ2 and am having fun with that.

    Fantastic addon!!!!

In recent patches a few of the features are acting up. I get an error while adjusting my settings and it no longer collects from the mailbox automatically. Any chance someone will be updating this?

    Thanks

@flange: "Is it just me or has the latest patch stopped ait printing out the amounts and total for sold items when you open the mail for them?"

I was _just_ about to post here about this very issue happening here in US WoW patch 1.9.3...heh. I too have the "Money Collection Notice" & "Expired Retrieval Notice" options checked and have had it so since early last year (not running into the save options problem that this mod has had for a while).

I tested many different things once I experienced this problem: using backed up AUTIONIT.LUAs (from SavedVariables) from several different dates, changing from my former AuctionIt 0.90 (which had worked fine for announcing money collection till now) to the last 0.91, trying various characters with won/expired/outbid auctions and so on. Nothing brought the messages back.

A real shame too. Nothing else I've found gave the auction money/item collection detailed notices this mod does. CT_MailMod and MailTo don't distinguish between "Outbid on" and "Auction Successful" money and don't provide their info in final summaries like AuctionIt used to before the problem. Unless someone else knows of a working mod that does; please let us know.

That money/auction collection notice was really the only reason I was still using this old, broken thing. Auctioneer (continually updated) has since last October or so saved your auction prices. Many other much slimmer mods than AuctionIt open all your bags at bank/AH/vendor/mail/trade ("bags and merchants"-- http://www.curse-gaming.com/mod.php?addid=1890 --is my favorite). I didn't use AuctionIt for any of its other features.

It is now uninstalled (it uses a lot of memory); hopefully someone else will pick this mod up and make it...live again.

Is it just me or has the lastest patch stopped ait printing out the amounts and total for sold items when you open the mail for them?

Normally I don't like cross posting but there is a error apparently caused by this add on with another mod, Book Of Crafts. When I have these 2 add ons enabled and mouse over the items icons in the AH I was getting a stack overflow message. I posted this on the BoC page. The author had inserted a detection to see if another add on was causing this error. It seems to be AuctionIt.

For a matter of record I paste the message here for clarity,

"Thank you for working hard on this mod. The addition of detecting the call to the AuctionFrameItem _OnEnter was a very good decision. I undertook the tedious and laborious process of disabling all add ons except BoC and enabling in batches of 10 at a time other add ons I use to catch the culprit.

It turns out to be AuctionIt in my case. This is very disappointing. I heavily use AuctionIt and its many features. According to rumors apparently its author, Turan, not only has left WoW but stopped coding altogether. And no other has taken up task of maintaining AuctionIt. AuctionIt is a essential add on as all my toons are heavy users of this. So I rolled back to version 1.09g as it is suffice for what I need."

Book of Crafts is located here, http://www.curse-gaming.com/mod.php?addid=1397
