- About SimpleTranqShot
SimpleTranqShot by Brodrick ( aka Kirov )
I need help getting this addon working again. I need WOWCombatLog.txt files recorded from fights where tranquilizing shot is used.
Before the fight starts type /combatlog to enable logging, after the fight is over type /combatlog again to disable logging. This should create a file in your World of Warcraft\logs\ folder called WOWCombatLog.txt. Once you have a log, send me a message and I'll give you an e-mail address you can send the file too.
Overview:
This mod automatically sends a broadcasted message when the player casts or misses a Tranquilizing Shot. If the shot misses, it sends a different message than the normal one and displays a message on the screen warning the player that the shot missed.
Description:
This is a light weight mod that replaces the need for a macro to broadcast when a hunter casts tranqilizing shot. Instead of sending a message every time the macro is hit, just casting Tranqilizing Shot normally will send the message, and only when the cast is actually successful to avoid channel spam. If the Tranquilizing Shot misses, it broadcasts a different message. It also displays text on the interface to let the player know the shot missed with out having to monitor the combat log or be looking at the ceiling to see the MISS text over the target's head.
Features:
* Tracks casting of Tranquilizing Shot passively. Does not need a special button to append to your UI or macro, works regardless of how Tranquilizing Shot is cast.
* Broadcasts configurable messages when Tranquilizing Shot hits or misses it's target.
* Broadcasts message to the chat type of your choice. (chat channel, yell, say, emote, raid, party, /rs)
* Displays a configurable message on your screen when you miss.
* Displays a configurable message on your screen when another hunter in your raid misses, even if they don't have SimpleTranqShot.
* Play a sound when you or some one in the raid misses Tranquilizing Shot.
* NEW 1.8 - Displays a configable message on your screen when your tranq shot or anyone in your raid's tranq shot fails.
* NEW 1.8 - Setup to announce for Magmadar, Death Talon Seether, Flamegor and Chromaggus.
* NEW 1.8 - Automatically adds any mob who gains frenzy, or from which frenzy is removed from to it's list of known targets to announce for.
Usage:
Install just like any other mod and it does everything else on it's own. It's setup with default messages for the normal cast, miss, and interface display messages which are all configurable.
Type /stranq in the console for the options menu.
To Do List:
* Localize options menu, tooltips, and broadcasted messages.
* Expand system to allow for multiple channel broadcasts with unique or shared messages.
New for 2.0
Next Frenzy timer and hunter tranq shot cooldown timer bars.
Also shows if a hunter has been debuffed with somethat that would prevent them from casting (Panic, Time Stop, etc.) or if they're dead, out of mana, fd.
Bars can be scaled and moved around as needed. Alpha can be set in the options menu.
Hunters can be reordered by dragging them around. Dragging a hunter then a right click automatically sends that hunter to the end of the list.
Future features -
* More configurable channel broadcast options.

Brodrick saidI'd love to fix this mod, but I need help. I need combat logs from fights where people are using Tranq shot.
Before a fight enable your combat log typing /combatlog before a fight. After the fight type /combatlog again.
You should have a file located in your WoW's log folder: "World of Warcraft\Logs\WoWCombatLog.txt". Send me a message and I'll give you an e-mail address to e-mail it to.

I loved having this mod as it shut my guildies up from whining that "you didnt tranq shot Halazzi" or "your tranq shot missed Halazzi" whenever we go to ZA.
Need this mod working again to stop them whining..plz plz :)

sdragongm saidI am not sure where to start, am hoping that maybe someone here can help. I have used this mod in the past (hunter class leader) to form a more coheasive team. We use it and it does bond the team together better. Which is why I wish to continue using it. SO I have a few minor questions. Is it possible to have the misdirect and silence shots also show up as cd's on the bars? I do not wish to change the major functionality to a silence or MD rotation, but just show to other raiding hunters who is on what CD. Doesn't seem like it would be too terribly difficult but due to lack of documentation on the code (just a coding joke :P) I have yet to figure out how to implement this. Any help you can offer would be appreciated.

Vincint saidHave you considered turning this mod into a misdirection mod for hunters instead of tranq? I think that would be more more useful as Blizzard has seemed to phase out Tranq shot and Misdirection is much more important, and co-ordinating it with this mod would be perfect/very helpful.
The UI would be perfect for it too.

Brodrick saidpainstorm - If SimpleTranqShot sees a mob frenzy it'll automatically attempt to track it. Unfortunatly, right now it's hard coded to only work in raids. For Black Morass it doesn't seem very useful since SimpleTranqShot exists to help multiple hunters work together. As a single hunter you can just spam the Tranquilizing Shot key to see if he has frenzy or not.

Brodrick saidCrownan - The hunter rotation probably got locked. This happens by default when ever someone else broadcasts the rotation.
When the rotation is locked it prevents you from being able to accidentally change the group setup or the order of hunters after (presumably) your hunter lead has broadcast the rotation.
To unlock the rotation you can either right click on the frenzy bar and go to "Hunter Rotation" and click on "Unlock Rotation". Alternatively you could change this option in the main options menu. There's also an option to disable the auto locking of the rotation in the main options menu, just check "Don't Auto Lock Rotation".
Once the rotation is unlocked the silver tabs used for setting up the groups will appear. The left tab controls how many hunters are in a "group" (between 2 and as many hunters as are in the raid). The right tab controls how many groups. The bottom bar controls the max number of hunters that are currently tranqing. Any hunters listed under the bar are "disabled".
To setup two groups of 2 hunters and one in reserve move the left tab down 2 slots, the right tab down 4 slots (it'll move 2 slots at a time), and the bottom bar down to 5 slots. These are also the default settings.
To setup a straight sequential rotation with no "groups" simply move the left tab to the top as far as it'll go. All hunters above the bottom bar will be in a single rotation, ie: no groups.
Alternatively you can slide the left tab down as far as you want and the right bar up as far as it'll go to setup a sequential rotation with optional reserve hunter(s). For Flamegor my guild uses a rotation of 3 with any remaining hunters as reserve. The main 3 fire in order, if one of them misses or their tranq fails, the back up hunter(s) fire their tranq shot. For this the left tab is at 3, right tab is at 3, bottom bar is at 4 or 5.

nToxiK saidHey Brodrick,
I haven't had a chance to test the tranq error as of yet.
I'm not sure if you already said this or not, but the /rs channel is greyed out when using oRA2. Can this be enabled in a future release? I am not seeing tranq messages from others hunters in the raid who are using CTRA and are broadasting to /rs. I have to broadcast to /rw for them to see my messages.

Crownan saidCould you please add in the ability to expand the number of tranq groups to three? For some bosses, like Flamegor, two tranq groups aren't enough. We are making do now by putting everyone into the two groups and counting on the fact that not everyone in a group will be on a cooldown at the same time. However, the ability to set three groups would make it a more elegant solution.

Brodrick saidDaviesh - Improved Error Frame hides lua errors, ones that would otherwise cause the pop up box to show up. The "Errors Frame" is completely unrelated.

Brodrick saidnToxik - All of the "broadcasting" that STranq does doesn't require CTRA or oRA or any other addons at all. The messages that are shown by STranq don't require any sort of broadcast either.
I'm not sure why you're not seeing messages on your screen though. There is also no oRA specific message frame, it just uses the RaidWarning frame that's built in to World of Warcraft. By default STranq displays it's messages on to the Blizzard "Error Frame" (the one that shows "Not Enough Mana" or "Spell is not ready yet." messages). If you have an addon that's hiding that frame then you wouldn't be able to see messages. You can change which frame STranq shows messages on in the Warnings options at the bottom.
Also, did you manage to reproduce that error?
