Critline is a World of Warcraft UI Mod that keeps track of your highest heals, attacks, and pet attacks.
Critline 5.0 has been completely redesigned from the ground up to be a stand-alone, as well as a TitanPanel plugin and FuBar plugin.
Installation Guide
- Exit "World of Warcraft" completely
- Download the mod you want to install
- Make a folder on your desktop called "My Mods"
- Save the .zip/.rar files to this folder.
- If, when you try to download the file, it automatically "opens" it... you need to RIGHT click on the link and "save as..." or "Save Target As".
- Extract the file - commonly known as 'unzipping'
Do this ONE FILE AT A TIME!
- Windows
- Windows XP a built in ZIP extractor. Double click on the file to open it, inside should be the file or folders needed. Copy these outside to the "My Mods" folder.
- WinRAR: Right click the file, select "Extract Here"
- WinZip: You MUST make sure the option to "Use Folder Names" is CHECKED or it will just extract the files and not make the proper folders how the Authors designed
- Mac Users
- StuffitExpander: Double click the archive to extract it to a folder in the current directory.
- Verify your WoW Installation Path
That is where you are running WoW from and THAT is where you need to install your mods.
- Move to the Addon folder
- Open your World of Warcraft folder. (default is C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\)
- Go into the "Interface" folder.
- Go into the "AddOns" folder.
- In a new window, open the "My Mods" folder.
- The "My Mods" folder should have the "Addonname" folder in it.
- Move the "Addonname" folder into the "AddOns" folder
- Start World of Warcraft
- Make sure AddOns are installed
- At the Character Select screen, look in lower left corner for the "addons" button.
- If button is there: make sure all the mods you installed are listed and make sure "load out of date addons" is checked.
- If the button is NOT there: means you did not install the addons properly. Look at the above screenshots. Try repeating the steps or getting someone who knows more about computers than you do to help.
Translations
When you download a mod, please be sure that the mod is compatible with your translation of wow. Some mods only work on the US versions, while some only work on some of the various European versions. These variations are called "Localizations".
TOC Numbers (Out of Date Mods)
When Blizzard patches WoW, they change the Interface number. This means that all mods will be "out of date" unless or until the author releases a new version for that interface. Some people go into the .toc files and update the numbers themselves, but this is STRONGLY advised against as it will cause problems locating possible incompatibilities addons. When you log into WoW after a patch, you DO NOT have to delete your interface directory. All you have to do is simply tell WoW to ignore the interface numbers and load all the mods anyway. All you have to do is, while at the "character select" screen, look in the lower left corner and click on the "addons" button. A window will pop up listing all your installed mods.
If you look in the upper left corner of that window there should be a box that says "Load Out of Date AddOns". You want to CHECK this box. Now simply go into WoW normally and all your mods should load. As of the 1.9 patch, you will have to do this after EVERY patch/update that Blizzard posts! If you encounter any problems with a mod after a patch, please be sure to let the author of the mod know so they can fix it.

Mac Support
WoW addons are not platformed based. As such, they can be used on either Mac or PC. You can extract both .zip and .rar files on a Mac using StuffitExpander.

Vargus13 saidI downloaded this Addon a little bit ago, but for some reason when I log in, i start to get bombarded by errors. If i click on the window or try to mess with any settings, i get errors all over the place. The settings window gets no text in it at all, and overall it just doesn't work. This is making me think another addon is screwing with it. Would the old Critline .lua file be messing with it, or another addon, or is it broken?
Edit: I've gone back, removed all other addons, and I still get error messages. I've copies some of them, and I hope this helps you to fix the bugs.
[When hovering over the little window's top bar]
\AddOns\CritLine\Critline.lua line 104: attempt to index global 'CL_DATABASE' (a nil value)
[When attempting to move window]
\AddOns\CritLine\Critline.lua line 753:attempt to index global 'CL_SETTINGS' (a nil value)
[When clicking the dino head to turn on/off damage tracking]
\AddOns\CritLine\CritlineDisplay.lua line 36:attempt to index global 'CL_SETTINGS' (a nil value)
[When entering the setting menu, right clicking on Dino head]
\AddOns\CritLine\CritlineSettings.lua line 192: Usage: GameTooltip:SetText("text" [, color])
I also went back and erased the old Critline.lua files, so there should be no interfering from the past mods.
Any idea whats going on?
Edit 2: I also took a screenshot of what I'm seeing
Also, here's a screenshot of what I'm seeing: http://img134.imageshack.us/img134/3349/wowscrnshot052508153905dj4.jpg
I have Critline, Fubar Critline Damage, and Fubar Critline Heal running, but I've disabled the Pet part. Also the current toon is a Rogue. Why am I seeing the pet icon? That may be whats going on.
Hope this all helps. Thanks again.

painstorm saidIf you got all 3 types enabled (damage/heal/pet), they are shown on top of each other when you log in. You have to disable/enable one of them, to get 3 lines in the display instead of just one.
In the filters it would be nice if you could also type in the mob name, instead of having to select it. When fighting a boss, there's rarely time to just stand there messing around with the CritLine setup to filter out the boss.

Lombra saidIt seems to be about combat log entries that are received when you are zoning. If I'm being chased out of an instance, and something happens while I'm zoning, the mob name is coloured as neutral (yellow) as opposed to hostile (red). So I suppose it's a bug with the combat log. Nevertheless, the error is annoying. I hope it can be worked around!
Edit: Haven't raided on my hunter since 2.4 until yesterday, and I noticed then that heals on my pet are recorded in the pet section. Improved Leader of the Pack, Lifebloom etc. I do not record healing spells if that matters.

Lombra saidI've gotten the following error message a few times recently. I can't really think of anything specific that could cause it (that is, a way to reproduce it). Last time it appeared was when I had released my corpse from an instance, appearing at the graveyard outside. I was in a raid with some other people.
Interface\\AddOns\\Critline\\Critline.lua:277: attempt to concatenate local 'myGUID' (a nil value)

Lombra saidPlaying on a PvP realm, I have no choice but being flagged for PvP inside instances, so that might be a problem indeed ;(
Wouldn't it be possible to parse the unit flags from the combat log events? I'm not sure how they work exactly, but it has something to do with the state of the unit if I'm not mistaken. The combat log obviously knows somehow, since you can choose to colour hostile units in a specific colour. I noticed that if you duel someone he will show up as hostile coloured as well, so maybe that would be something to look at!
I don't know if this spell is an exception, but while under the effect of it, records are still recorded, having "Suppress MC" enabled.

Feyde said@Lombra - sorry, I changed the name of the release version without changing the name of the file since beta 6 ended up being the release..I will reupload to change the file name..I am sure others have been confused by that as well.
I'll look at changing the display so that if there is no record of crit damage then it will not show the 0. I will do this for normal as well. So when the mod is first installed, the three displays will be blank instead of 0/0.
I will add an option to allow you to pick Record All, Record PvP, Record PvE. So it will record PvP and PvE, or just PvP, or just PvE.
As for your last request, I am thinking to differentiate between Friendly Fire and PvP. Friendly and PvP would be the same thing except PvP is when YOUR PvP flag is on. The problem with that is some people show up to raids with their PvP flag on.
Let me think on it and see what I can do.

Lombra saidOh and, quick question, did you upload the "release quality" version yet? Kinda confusing! In the download list it says 5.2.4, but when you download it, the file name implies that it's 5.2.4 beta 6.

Lombra saidA few suggestions. None of them are really.. important, but just some small improvements (?).
First, perhaps don't display crit values for DoTs? So, "Corruption [320]" instead of "Corruption [320/0]". There are some direct damage spells and DoTs with the same name (namely, Fireball and Pyroblast - they both have a DoT effect in addition to the direct damage), so something might have to be done about that as well, then.
There is an option to ignore PvP attacks, I suppose an option to ignore PvE attacks should be easy to implement? =)
Lastly, and I don't know how water proof this would be, an option to ignore damage taken from debuffs. The majority of the filtered spells I have is damage from (mob) debuffs. Eg, the Shockwave from Murmur, Volatile Infection from various undead mobs in Azeroth, they all appear in the combat log as you causing yourself damage. I was thinking, perhaps simply filter damage when the spell name matches the name of one of your debuffs or, (perhaps a more reliable approach, that perhaps will solve other cases as well?) filter damage when the player is the target (and source?). The first method might work better in ceratin cases though, like Shatter. It deals damage to nearby allies and is recorded in Critline.
I hope you can consider some of it!

wakeboarder141 saidI uncheck those in the options every time I login, and they still are checked again when I log in the next time. It just isn't saving those options from one session to the next.

Feyde said@MJMorf, @wakeboarder141 - open the options and uncheck 'Show Damage', 'Show Heal', and 'Show Pet'. This should keep the floating display off. The minimap is just a toggle that resets when you log.
@SilverBud06 - try deleting all Critline files in your WTF folder. that should reset everything.

NJMorf saidMinor niggle for me: I don't like having the floating display up most of the time, so I toggle it off, but every time I relog, it reappears. Am I missing a trick to get it to stay hidden, or is it not coded to do that? And if not, can it be added?
Thanks,

spiel2001 saidA little help please... I have downloaded Critline 5.0 (b6), installed it and it is functioning (I can configure it, the splash screen works, etc.) but there are no options appearing in the Titan Panel menus for me to add Critline to my Titan bar.
Any clue what I may be missing or need to do to remedy that?
Thanks.

<<edit>> ---------------------
Please disreguard this message... I had "Titan Critline" installed previously and had to go into my WTF directory and delete all references to that mod and then Critline 5.0 options became available to the Titan Menus.

Kerecha saidIs there any way to redirect the "splash" info to MSBT/SCT ?
Dun like the splash, but i still like to get a small notification in my "misc info" scroll area in MSBT.
Btw, kinda useless thing but is it possible to see shadowfiend damage listed under pet?

Feyde saidMSBT/SCT support may come in later version. Just mainly want to get all the kinks fixed to release a fully working 2.4 version.
Unless WoW categorizes the Shadowfiend as a pet, it will not show up as a pet. I don't want to customize the identifying mechanism for a specific spell or two. Sorry. :(
