- About GuildEventManager
---
---
Description :
----------------
This AddOn allows you to create/schedule/manage future raid instance directly in-game. Players can register (join) and reserve a room for your instance, or cancel subscription.
You can setup a maximum players for your event, as well as the min/max per class or role.
When a player wants to join and there is no room left for his class, he is put in a *substitute* queue, waiting for someone to cancel his subscription.
The leader of an event does not have to be logged in for a player to subscribe.
This addon has been designed to help guilds to schedule events, and its member to say *I'll be there*, and count the number of players that are ok for an instance.
It does work for multiple guilds (kind of Alliance of guilds), if you want, or even with your friend list.
All dates are stored in universal time, and displayed in local time, so if someone creates an event in a different timezone than yours, you will see the correct time on your side.

movix saidThanks for reporting this error, it's a bug when editing an event that causes this error.
This has been fixed; the next release will be done soon.
Try to /gem reset and reset the database, this can resolve your problem while waiting for the beta3 release

kiki saidGuildEventManager v3 has been released for BETA testing.
Support for GEM v2 will soon be stopped, as version 3 is far much better, reliable, ...
Please try out v3, and help us release a stable version, we need translators.

slipstream saidI really want Curse to be more up to date on new versions. It seems to be slacking as of late on GEM, Omen, etc... and I don't want to have to quit this site. Its really informative and good to have around, but man, it's getting frustrating.

JMHammer saidYou need to talk to the individual addon authors about that, slipstream. Curse itself does not update these links or other data - Curse simply provides a place for authors to do it themselves. Every author does not use every addon compilation site. Some use none at all, preferring to not go through the bother of uploading updated files and answering questions anywhere but their own managed site.
Kiki's site is: http://christophe.calmejane.free.fr/wow/gem/
BTW: The latest version of GEM, as of 2008-03-17, is 2.294.

JMHammer saidDevelopment hasn't stopped. The author doesn't post on Curse frequently. The current version is 2.26. Here is the authors website: http://christophe.calmejane.free.fr/wow/gem/
The author is preparing v3, which is going to separate the core functions from the interface. He is asking other people to develop interfaces. Go to the forums on his website for more details.

Zyhorn saidInstead of this, try out the new www.lookingforteam.com service. It's an online eventmanager with advance techology. Lock events to friends och within a guild or create open events for anyone to join. Rankingsystem keeps unserious players away.

chac12 saidOur guild alliance is using this for over 1 year now, and this addon is just great. It does have its quirks, but it's generally reliable and I'm wondering why Blizz themselves keep producing such bad solutions.
After some changes in our guild structure we would love to be able to set up runs where the order of subscription doesn't matter at all. Currently we set up events with only one member (the run leader), all others can only subscribe as substitutes. Still subs are numbered in order of subscription. We'd like to have the option not to have people numbered at all (like replacements).
The default channel on our server is full of nonsense events, which makes it basically unusable. I regularly patch my gem to use a different default channel, because of the spillover effect (if I switch to a new alt it sometimes happens that I get the nonsense events from there into my main's list). The following would help: 1. automatically ignore all events set up by certain people (perhaps use my ignore list?)
2. auto-ban people from my events (although I think this is already possible in some way)
3. Make it impossible to set up events in the distant future. IMO 8 weeks are plenty, I have yet to see a meaningful event with a longer horizon. Even the "who's attuned to Karazhan" type events are uninteresting after 8 weeks (either because still nobody is attuned, or because everybody is). If I wanted to keep up such an event I'd just have to edit it near its expiration date, but it would help to auto-reduce spam.

winterlady saidI'm not sure if this is exactly the place to put in a request - but I'd like to be able to put up events wihtout putting myself up as the leader.
This would mean that I'm attending all events loaded, and I'd like to find a way not to have that happen.
It's entirely possible that I missed something in how to set up events, so if I did, could ou fill me in?
Thank you...
