This UI has been created around my hunter, but is easily adapted for all other classes (I also use it on my tank for example). The majority of the mods used are Ace2 in order to try and keep the memory overheads as low as possible. Obviously, as a lot of the mods are hunter specific, the memory usage will be lower for other classes, but taking it for granted that you're a hunter and are leaving the mods as they are, it will use between 38-44mb memory.
I am a shallow type, and wanted to create a UI which was both fully functional and aesthetically pleasing to look at, and while there are a myriad of UIs out there, none met my criteria so I decided to create this one. I will do my best to evolve it as and where necessary, so all feedback will be gratefully received.
Because I haven't yet upgraded to a widescreen monitor, this UI is set to 1280x1024, but is easily modified to run at different resolutions as the majority of it can simply be dragged and dropped.
As most will know, 2.4.2 broke a ton of mods, including most of the ones in this compilation! As a result, this has been fully updated and is now working fine again. Only one mod had to be removed, Sorren Timers. But there is a plus side to this. Since removing it, the UI now uses considerably less memory than it did before! Always a good thing.
Enjoy :)
Installation Guide
- Exit "World of Warcraft" completely
- Download the mod you want to install
- Make a folder on your desktop called "My Mods"
- Save the .zip/.rar files to this folder.
- If, when you try to download the file, it automatically "opens" it... you need to RIGHT click on the link and "save as..." or "Save Target As".
- Extract the file - commonly known as 'unzipping'
Do this ONE FILE AT A TIME!
- Windows
- Windows XP a built in ZIP extractor. Double click on the file to open it, inside should be the file or folders needed. Copy these outside to the "My Mods" folder.
- WinRAR: Right click the file, select "Extract Here"
- WinZip: You MUST make sure the option to "Use Folder Names" is CHECKED or it will just extract the files and not make the proper folders how the Authors designed
- Mac Users
- StuffitExpander: Double click the archive to extract it to a folder in the current directory.
- Verify your WoW Installation Path
That is where you are running WoW from and THAT is where you need to install your mods.
- Move to the Addon folder
- Open your World of Warcraft folder. (default is C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\)
- Go into the "Interface" folder.
- Go into the "AddOns" folder.
- In a new window, open the "My Mods" folder.
- The "My Mods" folder should have the "Addonname" folder in it.
- Move the "Addonname" folder into the "AddOns" folder
- Start World of Warcraft
- Make sure AddOns are installed
- At the Character Select screen, look in lower left corner for the "addons" button.
- If button is there: make sure all the mods you installed are listed and make sure "load out of date addons" is checked.
- If the button is NOT there: means you did not install the addons properly. Look at the above screenshots. Try repeating the steps or getting someone who knows more about computers than you do to help.
Translations
When you download a mod, please be sure that the mod is compatible with your translation of wow. Some mods only work on the US versions, while some only work on some of the various European versions. These variations are called "Localizations".
TOC Numbers (Out of Date Mods)
When Blizzard patches WoW, they change the Interface number. This means that all mods will be "out of date" unless or until the author releases a new version for that interface. Some people go into the .toc files and update the numbers themselves, but this is STRONGLY advised against as it will cause problems locating possible incompatibilities addons. When you log into WoW after a patch, you DO NOT have to delete your interface directory. All you have to do is simply tell WoW to ignore the interface numbers and load all the mods anyway. All you have to do is, while at the "character select" screen, look in the lower left corner and click on the "addons" button. A window will pop up listing all your installed mods.
If you look in the upper left corner of that window there should be a box that says "Load Out of Date AddOns". You want to CHECK this box. Now simply go into WoW normally and all your mods should load. As of the 1.9 patch, you will have to do this after EVERY patch/update that Blizzard posts! If you encounter any problems with a mod after a patch, please be sure to let the author of the mod know so they can fix it.

Mac Support
WoW addons are not platformed based. As such, they can be used on either Mac or PC. You can extract both .zip and .rar files on a Mac using StuffitExpander.

Exros saidHi lord-p, first of all I really like your UI, but I got some problems. Im a prot warrior and I would like to make the bar that shows up when u target a enemy, abit bigger so I can put more spells in it, maybe this sounds abit noobish, but I cant find out which addon does it.

lord-p saidOk, that's a bit odd. It's just a normal .zip file, so I'm thinking Curse is having "issues". It uploaded fine the other day. I'll re-upload it. Hopefully that will sort it out.

lord-p saidAh, that would be Tiptac! Type /tip and up will pop the setup menu. Sounds like it has resorted to hooking the tips to the mouse cursor rather than the anchor point. On the setup menu you will see a button at the bottom called Anchor. Click that and the tip anchor will be visible. Simply drag it to where you want the tips to show and click the "x" when done. Make sure that "Only mouse anchor unit tips" is checked in the Anchor menu (click Anchor on the left hand menu for this). Hopefully, that will sort it.

Eternal201 saidThe box I meant is the one when I mouse over a target the box that pops up giving you the info is directly over our characters. The only way we can get rid of it is to keep the cursor off the mobs. I guess it's the tooltip although I'm not sure.
Thanks for the info on the timer bars too, meant to ask about that as well. They would pop up over the map.

lord-p saidEternal201 - Not quite sure what you mean by the "target/skill info box" tbh. If you mean the timer bars, they can be moved by left clicking Sorrens Timers on Fubar (look along the black bar along the bottom of the screen and left click the blue square with the swirly pattern(!)). Then click the + by Group Options, click defaultgroup and uncheck the "Locked" option. The anchor will appear and you can drag it to where you want it to be. Check "Locked" to make the anchor disappear.
Hope that helps :)

Eternal201 saidLike the UI, works well for me an the wife and it's the first one we've tried. Only question we both have though is how do we move the target/skill info box? It pops up directly over our character and makes it hard to see things in front of us. Like I said this is new to us so we're completely lost as to where to go.
Thanks
