- About Faster Ping
Reduces your latency / gives better ping times in World of Warcraft (and other Multiplayer Games) by optimizing network registry settings (Windows default setting are intentionally causing delays on small packets and ACKs).
The tool ist based on following articles:
english: http://www.mmo-champion.com/index.php?topic=3031.0 http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=3271071466&sid=1&pageNo=1 http://developers.slashdot.org/comments.pl?sid=174457&threshold=1&commentsort=0&mode=thread&cid=14515105 http://mattgadient.com/2007/12/13/kb935458-v2-vista-hotfix-for-tcpackfrequency/ http://elitistjerks.com/f15/t17761-server_locations_latency_australia/p8/
german: http://forums.wow-europe.com/thread.html?topicId=1958327347&sid=3
Faster Ping optimizes network registry settings in order to turn off ACK delays and small packet delays. Windows intentionally delays small packets and waits until more data can be sent, which is a good idea for non-realtime applications. But in Multiplayer and MMO games the focus is on sending all packets (like move_left, cast_spell, ...) immediately to the server, even if they are only 1 byte in size.
Faster Ping turns off these network delays which improves latency and ping times significantly.
You must have Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 installed (XP with Service Pack and Vista already have it) to run this application. You can get it here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=de&FamilyID=0856eacb-4362-4b0d-8edd-aab15c5e04f5

lakiozoon saidAs Nightsaintz and OnixXx i have a same problem.
When i apply changes same unhandled exceptions occur. I think it has smt to do with my WAN miniport/pppoe which i use to connect to internet, since when i click apply only on my lan connections i got no errors at all, but my ping isnt much lower either.
When i select WAN(PPP/SLIP)interface and try to apply changes, i get same errors as Nightsaintz and OnixXx.
Any tips maybe?

bishoppx saidWait, so we NEED Vista in order to use this?

Mendorian saidFor those on Vista:
- Download the Patch linked in the program (Linked Here)
- Install the Patch
- Reboot
- Go into the FasterPing_0_1_1_11 folder
- Right Click on the FasterPing.exe and select "Start as Administrator"
- Click "Apply Changes"
- Reboot Again
Should be done by then.
It's actually just a registry entry that's changed... but for most people this program will be safer than meddling with a registry editor.

JxToF saidApplication attempted to perform an operation not alowed by the ecurity policy. To grant this application the required permission, contact your system administrator or use the Microsoft .NET Framework Configuration tool.
I get this message on vista.
Anyone know what to do?
Or how to add to the registry manually?

chezicrator saidSame problem as the other dood. I installed 3.5 thinking that would help but nothing. The top it says:
Application attempted to perform an operation not allowed by the security policy. TO grant this application the required permission, contact your system administrator, or use the Microsoft .NET Framework Configuration tool.
I would imagine someone could help us figure out how to get to that tool? :)

koaschten saidPhen0m, i guess you would make a lot of people feel safer if you would provide the source code, there is nothing special about it beside applying some registry changes which could be easily done by merging a .reg file. Don't wanna point fingers or stuff, but you know ;)

Anthodev saidWorks fine, i have a 250-300ms ping and now i have 50ms the evening. Just amazing ! Oo
And i don't found any virus/trojan :)
Pour les français, ça marche parfaitement, le ping descend radicalement et il n'y a aucun, pas de virus ni trojan ou keylogger etc...
Test with/avec NOD32 v3 ;)

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.
For example:
<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>
When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

NoxElohim saidHow do we get that window you have in the picture that says Before/After etc. Also like a person asked, is there a loading bar for it? or is it one of those programs that once you set it once thats all you need and it does the rest? I am noticing my latency is much better, and the FPS seems better, So yay so far!

BHunter saidAfter I clicked apply changes, nothing happened. Is there supposed to be a loading bar or some sort message that appears?
I got a message saying "registry access not allowed, click continue if you wish for this application to attempt to ignore registry access warning, and I hit okay"
I'm on windows vista.
