Installation Guide
- Exit "World of Warcraft" completely
- Download the mod you want to install
- Make a folder on your desktop called "My Mods"
- Save the .zip/.rar files to this folder.
- If, when you try to download the file, it automatically "opens" it... you need to RIGHT click on the link and "save as..." or "Save Target As".
- Extract the file - commonly known as 'unzipping'
Do this ONE FILE AT A TIME!
- Windows
- Windows XP a built in ZIP extractor. Double click on the file to open it, inside should be the file or folders needed. Copy these outside to the "My Mods" folder.
- WinRAR: Right click the file, select "Extract Here"
- WinZip: You MUST make sure the option to "Use Folder Names" is CHECKED or it will just extract the files and not make the proper folders how the Authors designed
- Mac Users
- StuffitExpander: Double click the archive to extract it to a folder in the current directory.
- Verify your WoW Installation Path
That is where you are running WoW from and THAT is where you need to install your mods.
- Move to the Addon folder
- Open your World of Warcraft folder. (default is C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\)
- Go into the "Interface" folder.
- Go into the "AddOns" folder.
- In a new window, open the "My Mods" folder.
- The "My Mods" folder should have the "Addonname" folder in it.
- Move the "Addonname" folder into the "AddOns" folder
- Start World of Warcraft
- Make sure AddOns are installed
- At the Character Select screen, look in lower left corner for the "addons" button.
- If button is there: make sure all the mods you installed are listed and make sure "load out of date addons" is checked.
- If the button is NOT there: means you did not install the addons properly. Look at the above screenshots. Try repeating the steps or getting someone who knows more about computers than you do to help.
Translations
When you download a mod, please be sure that the mod is compatible with your translation of wow. Some mods only work on the US versions, while some only work on some of the various European versions. These variations are called "Localizations".
TOC Numbers (Out of Date Mods)
When Blizzard patches WoW, they change the Interface number. This means that all mods will be "out of date" unless or until the author releases a new version for that interface. Some people go into the .toc files and update the numbers themselves, but this is STRONGLY advised against as it will cause problems locating possible incompatibilities addons. When you log into WoW after a patch, you DO NOT have to delete your interface directory. All you have to do is simply tell WoW to ignore the interface numbers and load all the mods anyway. All you have to do is, while at the "character select" screen, look in the lower left corner and click on the "addons" button. A window will pop up listing all your installed mods.
If you look in the upper left corner of that window there should be a box that says "Load Out of Date AddOns". You want to CHECK this box. Now simply go into WoW normally and all your mods should load. As of the 1.9 patch, you will have to do this after EVERY patch/update that Blizzard posts! If you encounter any problems with a mod after a patch, please be sure to let the author of the mod know so they can fix it.

Mac Support
WoW addons are not platformed based. As such, they can be used on either Mac or PC. You can extract both .zip and .rar files on a Mac using StuffitExpander.

noblesteel saidUniUploader is what I recommend for uploading the data for rpgo-CharacterProfiler. It's available right here on Curse. If you use CensusPlus and WR_KillingFields, you can actually up load the data for all of them at the same time (as long as use the same login and password for both services).

Escpecially the what not.
I don't want my guild or whoever to see what I got in my bags and bank for instance.

calvin-rpgo saidi've changed the recipe scanning in 2.3.x.
from what i've heard it scans much better (no locking up); but it will still be dependant on how many recipes you have, your internet connection, and the server lag.
once the recipe items are in your itemcache, scanning should be much better

Gruma saidI'm using the latest version (2.1.1), and poisons don't seem to be saved for rogue characters. CP informs you that poisons were scanned, but they don't appear in the saved variables. Are they supposed to be there? I'd definitely like to see them.
Also, a question and suggestion: would it be possible to track mail sent to other characters? What I mean is, if one character mails an item to another character on the same account (meaning that CP has data on both characters in memory), I'd like to see CP record the item as being in the receiving character's inbox immediately. The reason for this is that it more accurately reflects total inventory across the account. RIght now any items in the mail are "lost" to CP until all mail is delivered and you manually check every char's mailbox.
MailTo already does something similar to this, but unfortunately that addon only records the mail subject, not the details of the attached item like CP does. (And I would also like to see all of the info in one place.)

Pakka said@dector No offense, but some of your addons are quite outdated versions. Just a few examples: you've listed SCT 5.4... latest version is 5.61. And, omg, Damage Meters 5.2.0? Must be kidding me, I don't think BC was even out then :D latest version is 5.6.1b. Also, your versions of Characters Viewer and rpgoCP are not up to date.
It is not always necessary to have the absolute latest brand new version, but when you're experiencing any troubles in game related to addons, you should try to get them all updated.

calvin-rpgo saidsorry for the delayed response; its difficult to get here to answer everything.
@dector/daddelkopp: these errors are caused by EQL
@Lombra: we're working on redoing some of the settings, once we get this done, we'll be adding the ability to change what is scanned.
@BryanD1180: 2.0.6 stops selecting the recipes. a wow patch will removed all your cache data files (itemcache.wdb etc). the removal of these means your game needs to get the info from the server again. multiple addons scanning tradeskills during this time can also cause your game to *lockup*. i'm looking for a better way to scan the recipes, but i havent found anything. as TheRaven mentioned, you can disable CP, or you can just disable it before opening your recipes for the first time '/cp off' then '/cp on'
@dector: i'm not aware of what could be causing that problem. does it still happen?

TheRaven saidUnciatim, This problem happens to me after every patch. I'd like to think it has something to do with the system rechecking if item links are valid. What appears to work for me is to do the following:
Delete cache file. Disable CharacterProfiler, RecipeRadar, RecipeBook, GFW_Linkerator, GFW_ReagantCost, and WhoNeedsThis. These addons appear to the be the ones that go crazy with the tradeskills. Log into a character. Open all the trade skill windows. Log out. Turn on above addons. Now they'll work. Or turn on a few of those addons a few at a time and that gets them all to work.
I'm really not sure what's going on here. I have no addon yet to "blame". :)
