Installation Guide
- Exit "World of Warcraft" completely
- Download the mod you want to install
- Make a folder on your desktop called "My Mods"
- Save the .zip/.rar files to this folder.
- If, when you try to download the file, it automatically "opens" it... you need to RIGHT click on the link and "save as..." or "Save Target As".
- Extract the file - commonly known as 'unzipping'
Do this ONE FILE AT A TIME!
- Windows
- Windows XP a built in ZIP extractor. Double click on the file to open it, inside should be the file or folders needed. Copy these outside to the "My Mods" folder.
- WinRAR: Right click the file, select "Extract Here"
- WinZip: You MUST make sure the option to "Use Folder Names" is CHECKED or it will just extract the files and not make the proper folders how the Authors designed
- Mac Users
- StuffitExpander: Double click the archive to extract it to a folder in the current directory.
- Verify your WoW Installation Path
That is where you are running WoW from and THAT is where you need to install your mods.
- Move to the Addon folder
- Open your World of Warcraft folder. (default is C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\)
- Go into the "Interface" folder.
- Go into the "AddOns" folder.
- In a new window, open the "My Mods" folder.
- The "My Mods" folder should have the "Addonname" folder in it.
- Move the "Addonname" folder into the "AddOns" folder
- Start World of Warcraft
- Make sure AddOns are installed
- At the Character Select screen, look in lower left corner for the "addons" button.
- If button is there: make sure all the mods you installed are listed and make sure "load out of date addons" is checked.
- If the button is NOT there: means you did not install the addons properly. Look at the above screenshots. Try repeating the steps or getting someone who knows more about computers than you do to help.
Translations
When you download a mod, please be sure that the mod is compatible with your translation of wow. Some mods only work on the US versions, while some only work on some of the various European versions. These variations are called "Localizations".
TOC Numbers (Out of Date Mods)
When Blizzard patches WoW, they change the Interface number. This means that all mods will be "out of date" unless or until the author releases a new version for that interface. Some people go into the .toc files and update the numbers themselves, but this is STRONGLY advised against as it will cause problems locating possible incompatibilities addons. When you log into WoW after a patch, you DO NOT have to delete your interface directory. All you have to do is simply tell WoW to ignore the interface numbers and load all the mods anyway. All you have to do is, while at the "character select" screen, look in the lower left corner and click on the "addons" button. A window will pop up listing all your installed mods.
If you look in the upper left corner of that window there should be a box that says "Load Out of Date AddOns". You want to CHECK this box. Now simply go into WoW normally and all your mods should load. As of the 1.9 patch, you will have to do this after EVERY patch/update that Blizzard posts! If you encounter any problems with a mod after a patch, please be sure to let the author of the mod know so they can fix it.

Mac Support
WoW addons are not platformed based. As such, they can be used on either Mac or PC. You can extract both .zip and .rar files on a Mac using StuffitExpander.

khawes said1.8 also does not play nice with Mapster. Mapster's minimap icons like flightmaster, vendors, mailbox etc are now being caught by MBF.
Good work, love MBF.

MegaManJuno saidNoticed this myself, which wasn't a problem with the prior version of MBF. To clarify, I believe the HandyNotes modules are where the incompatibility resides with MBF, as I don't think Mapster itself provides POI's on the map.

Pelf saidSince you asked for information about other addons that MBF doesn't play well with: I've had to add manual exceptions for 3 things since I upgraded to this newest version. I had to add them manually because they were making empty spaces in the button frame but weren't hoverable to be removed using /mbf remove.
Chinchilla_Coordinates_Frame - I guess this looks like a minimap button in code?
Chinchilla_WheelZoom_Frame - This frame wasn't even visible but it got collected.
WIM_IconFrame - WIM apparently has WIM_IconFrame and WIM_IconFrameButton. The one that should be collected is apparently WIM_IconFrameButton. The other one was being collected as well and resulted in an empty space.
Hopefully this helps you out :).

Bachlott saidFor the WIM_IconFrame. The addon should collect that now. But if you already have a manual add of the WIM_IconFrameButton there won't be anything on it. So you can either just have MBF ignore the IconFrame or remove the button then re-add it and it should be fine. The other two were caused by the rewrite of the main code. I'll have a 1.8a version out that will correct those very soon.

ibmoose saidI spent 45 minutes looking for how to keep an addon's button out of mbf and on the minimap, ie., ItemRack's button. How do I do this?? Thanx :^)

Bachlott saidOkay for everyone having issues with disappearing buttons. This is the deal. Many addons run checks to make sure their icon is in the location they want it around the minimap. The last couple of ways I've tried fixing this caused the addons to throw errors everytime they tried to snatch the button back. I think I may be able to fix most of the issues if I completely rewrite the way the buttons are grabbed. But hopefully it shouldn't be too much longer before I can get another version out.
What I really need is a list of any addons that are having issues with MBF. I'll need the name of the addon, the version number, a description of exactly what it's doing and where I can download it for testing with MBF.
Thanks

Arlyn saidLove your addon, use it every day. But one thing has annoyed me with it. After many hours play, it starts "hiding" icons, and then I have to reload the UI to make all the buttons show again. Any way of fixing this?

Alfabouch saidHello,
Here i got a problem, i "lost" the button on one of my char. I "accidently"* moved it out of the window, r something like that, and i can't get to make it come back.
Is there any way to reset its position next to the minimap?
Thanks =)
Btw, great job, really got used to it and like this one =)
*As i set the interface to 75%, whenever i try to move it, it kind of "blinks" away before i can move it. So it moved out of the window ^^

jackbauerthakilla saidHi! Go to \World of Warcraft\WTF\Account\youraccountname\yourserver\yourtoonsname\SavedVariables and delete MinimapButtonFrame.lua and MinimapButtonFrame.lua.bak
The configs for the addon will be reseted. After that, just log into the game and configure it again.

piazza702 saidI am having trouble getting my buttons into the frame. I'm typing "/mbf add IconNameHere" is there a certain way i need to put in the icon name.
My buttons are:
(Already in MBF)
Atlas
Recipe Radar
(Can't get it into MBF)
Omen (firstl line of tool tip says "Click to toggle the Omen window")
Wishlist
Sunn - Viewport Art
Sorren's Timers
AtlasLoot Enhanced
X-Perl UnitFrames by Zek - 2.4.4
WIM
TrinketMenu
All of them are listed exactly as what appears in the tooltip with exception to Omen which is explained.
Thanks for help in advance.

Bachlott saidYou have to have the cursor over the button you want to add or remove. You don't have to type any button name. Just /mbf add (with the mouse over the icon) or /mbf remove (same deal). Alternately you can setup keybindings that you can hit instead of typing it in. You still have to have the mouse over the icon you want to affect.

syali saidIs there some way to hide the entire bundle of minimap buttons? I don't want them all taking up screen space until I use a slash command, click a button or hover my mouse over some spot to un-hide them myself.
Can such a feature be implemented? Right now, I can't even drag the mbf frame off of the page, it snaps to the edge.

Bachlott saidI had removed that functionality due to some people managing to hide MBF and not being smart enough to type /mbf show to get it back. But I'll go ahead and restore the /mbf hide and /mbf show commands in the next version.

Gorehunter saidhow do you set certain non-blizzard buttons to stay on the minimap? I'm also having an issue on some of my characters where when i right click Minimap Button Frame's button it moves down & to the left... so it is impossible to place it in the upper right corner of my screen. (which is where i want it.)

Bachlott saidYou have to put the mouse over the icon you want to remove then type /mbf remove. Alternately you can set a keybinding and use that with the mouse over the icon.
I've noticed that sometimes when the MBF is conflicting with another addon it drag functionality gets really bad. Both on the button and the frame itself. I haven't been able to reproduce it constantly enough to be able to troubleshoot it. I've done a lot of rewriting for version 1.8 so hopefully we'll get lucky and one of the changes will fix it.
