For the details read below.

In an upcoming build all Priest racials have been retired, except the following:

Desperate Prayer - This is now the 11-point talent in Holy, Holy Nova is now a base ability. Cooldown also reduced to 30 seconds.

Devouring Plague - Now a base ability. Cooldown reduced to 30 seconds, mana cost greatly reduced.

Symbol of Hope - Now a base ability. Now restores 5% base mana every 2 seconds for 8 seconds to your party. Renamed "Hymn of Hope."

While this change does reduce the "uniqueness" of different Priests, we feel game balance as a whole will benefit.

Note: These new "racials" are not racials, they are trainable to all Priests.

Blue Posts

Tooltip enhancements in a future WotLK patch
We have a plan to make smarter tooltips (for characters too) in a Lich King patch. (src)

Patch 3.0.2 - Naxxramas moving to Dragonblight
Naxxramas will be moving to Dragonblight with the release of 3.0.2. If you want to do anything with the current 40 player level 60 version of the raid dungeon, do it before 3.0.2 is released. (src)

Dalaran Update
Here's an update on a couple things...

- The last bits of flying design work are in and you should see it in the next push. We have removed the rocks floating around the city from the dismount zone. The rules are still the same as I explained in my last post. Please test it out and let us know if you find anything unusual.
- The target dummies are going to be moved to a more reasonable area of the sewer. Right now they are smack dab in the middle of the dueling area and it just creates too much congestion.
- We have plans to expands the The Violet Citadel in future patches after we launch Northrend. There is a reason why we put so many doors in there. =)
- Zidormi will offer players a portal directly to the Caverns of Time from within The Violet Citadel. No requirements on the port this time either. (src)

Beta ending soonish? not really
The Beta is not ending soon. (src)

8 piece and 5 piece sets
The reason we moved away from 8 piece sets into the new 5 piece sets was lack of choice. When you have to have every piece of your set equipped for set bonuses it takes away from any decision making process in terms of what to wear.

When we decided we didn't like what 8 piece sets had become we started talking about what pieces would be ideal to pull from the set. The bracers were the first to go, at that point though it didn't make any sense to have a 7 piece set so we cut out the belt as well since it's not a very visual piece. Since we wanted the set bonuses to be attainable while still having some degree of choice to be made we pulled the boots as well in order to make the sets 5 pieces with 2 and 4 piece bonuses. This way players could maintain their set bonuses while still having a lot of customization in gear selection.

All that said, 8 piece bonuses have seen their day and there is no plan to bring them back. (src)

Mount Achievement
Mount Achievement on the way. Reward for the highest level of the achievement is a unique mount. (src)

Tanking in WotLK
Couple of thoughts:

1) You should only face instagib problems when you can be crit since bosses no longer crush targets 3 levels lower than them. The fact that 3 of the tank classes are having trouble being uncrittable by Naxx is something we're look into. Druids can be uncrittable through talents.

2) DKs will probably have lower armor than warriors and possibly health as well. Their avoidance will almost certainly be higher to compensate for the lack of block. DK situational abilities are better than warrior ones. We want to keep these differences as much as possible without gimping anyone. Everyone realizes that a 95% avoidance tank with 10K health is not going to be an effective tank, nor is one that is so dependent on cooldowns that he dies when the cooldowns aren't up.

3) If you are having threat issues, that is concerning. We are trying to get away from +threat modifiers on abilities because they don't scale well with with gear. For those we're keeping (like Sunder Armor) the threat scales with AP. The ideal design is something closer to the paladin, where threat scales off of damage really well. If the DK dps is too low, that would certainly account for lower threat as well. We don't want to have a lot of variance in threat on tanks. It's hard to balance (and not really much fun) to have low threat tanking classes.

Bottom line: the design is that the 4 tank classes are roughly equal in their ability to survive and maintain threat, while preserving whatever differences among them that we can manage. (src)

Death Knight
Improved Icy Talons to affect ranged attack speed
Improved Icy Talons will affect ranged attack speed. (src)

Ravenous Dead to be reworked
We are going to rework Ravenous Dead to not affect the duration. The thinking is that only deep Unholy really cares about ghoul duration and he has Master of Ghouls anyway.
The new Ravenous Dead will provide a bonus to the stat conversion from you to your ghoul, so it should scale pretty well with gear. Other specs can still take it for a ghoul boost, but Unholy won't have a talent that gets less useful with Master of Ghouls. (src)

Why there are no BF or BU skills?
Almost every DK needs to use Plague Strike (U) and Icy Touch (F). That means you can't add a BU unless you also had a BF or you'd be left with an orphan F or U and nothing to do with it but another Plague Strike or Icy Touch.

We considered the model where you had BUs and BFs and BBs and whatever, but we already needed to make a base rotation and variants for Blood, Frost and Unholy, and make all the abilities in there feel fun and useful (and we're not even done with that part of it). (src)

Druid
Restoration tree still being worked on
We are still playing with deep Resto a little. One of the concerns (for us, though probably not you!) is that with all the tree talents and some decent Spirit that druids never run out of mana. (src)

Feral Q/A
Please point out how our dps will be tuned to match rogue dps.
We'll eventually figure out how much lower cat dps is than rogue dps, and then we will change some druid abilities to use bigger numbers. It's possible we will buff a couple of talents, especially ones that we suspect you're likely to already be getting. But mostly we do it through tweaking core abilities like Shred and Mangle.

Please explain how shifting cost and mana consumption will work with rogue gear (in pvp/pve/soloing).
Feral mana seems to have taken a big hit. We have some thoughts on how to adjust it.

Please explain if our tanking and dps will scale as we go to harder 25 man content.
Yes, they will. By definition, percentages scale and flat numbers do not. You have a lot of percentages in your talents. There has been a lot of discussion about whether Mother Bear is a scaling talent or not, and I'm not sure I'm eager to enter into that debate again. But we have designed the talents to scale. One of the problems to your mitigation scaling was just hitting the upper limit of armor. Armor and avoidance will be much harder to cap out now. (src)

Hunter
Heart of the Phoenix & Pet bar
We are trying to get Heart of the Phoenix to work in a more useful fashion. We also have a plan to make the pet bars much more customizable. You should be allowed to remove any button you don't use a lot, Stay or Aggressive perhaps, but put it on again like any other attack. (src)

Pet hit
We do have a plan to let pets use the hunter or warlock's hit. Certain talents would need to be adjusted to reflect this change. (src)

Pet attacks and AP scaling
All pet attacks scale with AP now, which is not reflected correctly in the tooltips. We have a plan to make smarter tooltips (for characters too) in a Lich King patch. You will probably do more damage than the tooltips suggest, but you should be used to that because almost all character attacks do the same thing. (src)

Pet leveling
We like pet leveling as a feature, but I agree that the time it takes has grown out of control, possibly because killing mobs doesn't provide the same percentage of your hunter's experience as it used to. We'll try to get it fixed. (src)

Paladin
Holy Paladin armor set changes
I just updated the Gladiator pieces to Crit from MP5. I'm going to leave the honor pieces alone. Between those and assorted other pvp items you should be covered. (src)

Priest
About the new Mindflay animation
The new one targets the face too for proper meltage. (src)

Rogue
Subtelty Tree Feedback
Please post any feedback on the talent tree here. Please try and focus on the talents and not on general rogue issues, or you'll make a soon-to-be-long thread much, much longer. (src)

Shaman
Windfury procs fixed in next build
Fixed for next build. (src)

Maelstrom Weapon 5-Stack Indicator
We're going to be doing something similar (different colors) to that soon (combat text alert), also changing it so that it has a chance to proc from crits each rank (so 20/40/60/80/100%). That way if you get 1-4 ranks of the talent you can still get an instant cast. (src)

Armor Set - Elemental Shaman PvP Bonus
The shaman elemental set bonus has been changed to cooldown reduction on Grounding Totem. (src)

Warlock
Chaos Bolt Damage Boost
Damage is being boosted in the next build. (src)

Pet hit
We do have a plan to let pets use the hunter or warlock's hit. Certain talents would need to be adjusted to reflect this change. (src)

General Q/A (src)
Poorly scaling pets
We've increased the scaling of pets for this expansion. All pets have avoidance (-80% AOE damage), and we increased the numbers on several pets. If we feel they're too squishy, we can increase the scaling. The pet should not be invincible.

MANY wasted talents
Examples? Master Conjurer, Improved Voidwalker, Improved Succubus and Improved Health Funnel are all being tweaked in an upcoming build, if that's what you meant =)

2 of 3 51 point talents being 100% situational and/or useless
Haunt is useless? Metamorphosis is useless? The weaker of the three would probably be Chaos Bolt, which will now be the Destruction Warlock's highest damage/DPS spell in a future build.

Dot scaling poorly
Damage over time spells (Corruption, CoA) output for Destruction and Demonlogy are working as intended. For Affliction we did add Pandemic which makes them scale better.

crit and haste not affecting dots
We feel DoTs scale well for the Affliction Warlock now with Pandemic. If we made haste effect DoTs it would have to reduce the duration of the DoT, which would be a nightmare for DPS rotation/gameplay. Haste still benefits the affliction warlock because of Shadow Bolt, Haunt, UA, and the global cooldown reduction.

Soulshards on active combat abilities.
Intended.

Warlock glyphs being very weak when compared to those of mages.
Some changes to the Glyphs are upcoming, but this seems like "grass is greener" to me.

Affliction having two dots as 41 and 51 point talents with cast times and poor coefficients which do not compensate for these cast times.
The coefficient for a spell matches it's cast time, coefficients are not assigned. If it has a higher cast time, it has a higher coefficient. Lower cast time, lower coefficient. We fixed various spells that had higher or lower coefficient's in this expansion (Lightning Bolt, for example).

Dispel being grossly overpowered (although, this may be addressed)
Grossly overpowered is a bit extreme, but we would like to do a pass of the dispel system in the future.

Warrior
Titan's Grip & DPS
If your dps is 15% lower than a rogue, we're not going to make up for that difference by buffing a single talent to account for such a big proportion of your dps. More than likely we would handle this through adjusting the damage on higher ranks of abilities, improving base stats or stat conversions, or possibly even changing stance or rage mechanics. We could also lower the rogue dps through similar adjustments. It's not always easy to determine whether class A needs to be buffed to catch class B, or if class B needs to be nerfed. (src)

Protection Warrior DPS
Here are some things to consider.

-- Prot warrior damage, at least while tanking, seems a lot closer to bear damage. This is a good thing for both classes. It obviously helps Prot warriors, but it also means we don't have to take away from bears in other places to balance for them being the "high damage" tank.
-- However, even though Prot and Feral bear may be close, we don't know yet if those two are too low or high overall. We also don't know if they are too high or low when not tanking in tank gear, when tanking in non-tank gear, or when dps'ing in non-tank gear. There are a lot of variables in play.
-- Prot warrior dps seems either low or acceptable when not tanking. However, this may be because Prot warriors are still rage starved. That isn't a great balance mechanic and also means that if we fix rage starvation, their dps may be too good.
-- Design-wise, we can make Prot dps a lot more competitive to Arms and Fury. However, until we reach a point where Arms and Fury can be great tanks, Prot's dps probably needs to stay below them. Hopefully "below" can mean 15-20% below them instead of the 30-60% below them that it can sometimes be on Live. (src)

Quote from: Ghostcrawler (Source)

Here are some changes you'll see next build or so. I may have forgotten some.

-- Taunt no longer shares a cooldown with Growl and Cower.
-- Avoidance, not Great Resistance, is the prereq for Wolverine Bite.
-- We are still trying to rework Heart of the Phoenix to get around the shortcomings.
-- Tenacity and Ferocity pets lost their armor multiplier but it was given to all pets at base. The net effect is that Cunning pets won't be at a stat deficit compared to the other trees.
-- Roar of Recovery provides more mana.
-- Lick Your Wounds now with faster licking technology.
-- Carrion Feeder cooldown dropped to 30. We can't easily change the range because this spells uses the same tech as the undead racial.
-- Focus cost removed from Bullheaded.
-- Not directly talent-related, but rather than reworking Prowl, cats got a second damage ability, Rake. It felt odd for them to shift from most desired pet to one of the least desired.

As far as who belongs to which tree, those decisions were made largely based on the pet special ability, not what ecologically makes more sense with the tree's theme. Strong CC or other PvP-useful abilities were generally given the Cunning tree, just because we didn't also want to see those same pets as the most popular when raiding or soloing. The goal is to have a lot more options about which pet you're going to bring. With the Cunning stat change and tree rework, hopefully that will include those animals as well.

Runic Power Generation Rates

Quote from: Ghostcrawler (Source)

We could use some more responses on runic power generation rates, because as usual, the feedback is all over the board.

Specifically:

Do you typically have too much runic power?

If so, why?

-- Because you have talents (e.g. Dirge) to generate more?
-- Because you're leveling and killing things fast?
-- Because you don't want to hit the Death Coil button now that the number is low?

You don't need to post your spec, but at least mention if you're mostly Blood, Frost or Unholy.
------------------------------------------
So it sounds like runic power generation is at a decent rate coming in. But there are two problems:

-- Death Coil doesn't do enough damage relative to other attacks. Even if we buffed DK dps across the board, Death Coil needs to be relatively higher so that it's a button you want to push.

-- Even if Death Coil were better, Blood with Sudden Doom doesn't spend as much runic power on Death Coil over time, so their bar fills up.

They are both currently bugged and being worked on. (src)

Dungeons - The Oculus not available
Sorry, we're moving the instance portal for the Oculus and currently it's not available. (src)

Death Knight
Master of Ghouls and DK Pets
This has been confusing, so we're trying to clean up the design a little bit.

Raise Dead -- 2 minute duration. 5 minute cooldown. Summons a guardian (no pet bar).

Ravenous Dead -- extends duration (passively)
Night of the Dead -- lowers cooldown (actively)
Master of Ghouls -- the summoned ghoul is a pet instead of a guardian. This means he gets a cute name, a pet bar, and there is no duration to the ability. If your ghoul is killed, you will have to wait for the cooldown before bringing him back. (src)

Subversion and Blood/Unholy threat
We recently made a change so that Blood Presence and Unholy Presence generate less threat. This is consistent with warriors and the bonus all melee dps classes get when in dps mode.

So you should only need the threat benefit part of Subversion if you are really good or really overgeared compared to your tank (which does happen, which is why we offer those talents). You shouldn't need Subversion to boost Scourge Strike damage though. It has lots of talents that affect it. (src)

Hunter
Pet talents feedback
We need to finalize the pet talents pretty soon, so I wanted to created a thread that focused on their discussion. There are already some good posts on the topic, but they are mixed in with threads on various aspects of hunters.

So please give the pet talents some love here.

Focus on specific talents, and on how the trees are put together. Please don't use this particular thread to discuss more global pet issues (like feeding, leveling or PvP burstability) or pet stats in general.

EDIT: However, discussing pet special abilities (Warp, Ravage, Sting) would be helpful. (src)

Shaman
Lava Lash still being worked on
We're still working with the design of the ability. We'll make sure your rotation isn't too insane. But hey, you asked for a new attack. (src)

About Hex
In PvE it has an invisible scatter shot effect. It basically makes the creature confused in a small circumference (so he hops around in a small area). We originally made it "pacify" (i.e. it cannot attack or cast spells) the creature, but it caused it to run off as a frog down the dungeon halls aggroing everything... (src)

Warrior
Titan's Grip design philosophy
I'll explain a little bit of our logic here. You might disagree at any step along the way, which would break the chain, but at least you might understand where we're coming from.

-- Being able to use a second two-hander will be too much of a dps increase. It needs some kind of penalty, but not a penalty so stiff that it makes the talent undesirable.
-- A damage penalty on Titan's Grip doesn't feel right. It is essentially turning your two-handed weapons into one-handed weapons. Other that the stat boosts from the two-hander, it doesn't feel like a net gain.
-- A haste penalty on Titan's Grip does bad things to the Fury tree. Two-handed weapons are already slow, and to some extent, Fury is dependent on getting quick hits it.
-- Hit on the other hand, is consistent with the normal penalty for dual-wielding. It is also something you can stack to try and minimize the penalty, even at lower levels. However, if you're stacking more hit than than another warrior, you are giving up other stats, which brings the damage down to what we feel is a safer level (i.e. a net increase for taking the talent, but not an OP one).

It's a cool idea overall, but one that's hard to balance. Unlike many talents, there isn't a lot of granularity to adjust its power. You can't say "You can wield one two-handed weapon and 85% of a second two-handed weapon." You can make the second one hit for 85% damage, but as I suggested above, that starts to feel like you might be better off just looking for two one-handed weapons with more dps on them.

Hope that clears up the intent a little. If we find warriors with Titan's Grip are not able to do reasnable dps (if the talent isn't justified) then we'll adjust the numbers. (src)

Upcoming Class Changes, Mount Speed, Items and Blues

Upcoming Shaman Changes

Quote from: Koraa (Source)

Elemental
- Elemental Fury and Call of Thunder are switching places. Call of Thunder will be a 1-point talent, and Elemental Fury will be a 5-point talent. For Elemental Shaman this won't mean much, for Enhancement it means they can have easier access to 100% spell crit damage.
- Lava Burst's cast time has been increased to 2.5 seconds, but Lightning Mastery will reduce that cast time by 0.5 sec with 5 points. Thus, the coefficient of Lava Burst has been improved to match it's new cast time.
- Lava Bursts base damage numbers have been significantly increased.

Enhancement
- Mental Quickness and Unleashed Rage have swapped places.
- Spectral Transformation renamed "Earthen Power". Now reduces all damage done by targets when Psychic Scream ends by 15/30%. Lasts 6 sec.
- Dispersion - 90% damage reduction is restored.
- Misery - Now has 5/10/15% bonus spell power to Mind Flay, Mind Sear and Mind Blast.

Quote from: Ghostcrawler (Source)

Sorry we could not get this out ahead of time to give you a head's up.

We have posted in many of the class forums already explaining why you saw so many changes to abilities and numbers this time around. The designers sat down and ran through every spell and talent in the game. We were looking for the following:

-- Mechanics that we didn't think we'd be able to get working right. They might feel off or buggy. For some of these, it was time to change them and move on.
-- Talents that were confusing, trying to do too many things or just weird for some reason.
-- Talents or abilites that gave too much of one class' special abilities to another class. This is a tough one. Sometimes an ability feels so useful that we need to spread the love. Other times we fear the classes are just blending too much together if everyone does the same thing.
-- Looking for talents or abilities that were under or over budget.

Let me explain that last part in a little more detail. We balance most of the game to a budget. We have an idea for example that a talent point should be worth around a 1% dps increase. For a variety of reasons, it doesn't always work out that way and there are plenty of examples of talents that violate that goal -- it's not a hard and fast rule. But there were many talents that were doing too much for their cost. Talents that offer so much for their points quickly become mandatory. They may be fun in that you get a lot for your money, but they work against the design goal of being able to build a customized talent tree for your character. They also make spec parity or class balance a lot harder when there are these inflated numbers scattered throughout the talent trees. Some talents were under-budget and were buffed, but to be fair, most were over-budget, which is just the human nature of designers when we're trying to come up with something cool and exciting.

What this patch was NOT was a comprehensive numbers pass. We didn't nerf you because your healing, dps or mitigation was too good compared to other classes. We really don't have enough data yet to make those conclusions (especially in PvP), but we're getting more and over every day, both internally and from helpful beta testers.

What can you do? Get out there and try out the build. There are probably some cases where we nerfed an ability too far. These changes are not set in stone. The game isn't done. Please try and be clear and concise in your feedback because that makes it a lot easier for the designers and community managers to quickly read your posts. If you lost an ability that you felt you desperately needed or were really excited about, that's useful feedback.

We love all of the classes, and ultimately the best outcome from our point of view is for everyone to be excited to start leveling when Lich King goes live. That means giving you mechanics you're excited about, but it also means not getting destroyed or totally outdone by other classes with talents or spells that are too good.

Hopefully the next patch or two will have more numbers changes to get everyone closer to parity. But I don't need to remind you that this is a big, complex game, and it's going to take some time.

As the state of the game has matured substantially since the inception of Paid Character Transfers, we will now be allowing PvE-to-PvP transfers on a full-time basis to provide players with more mobility and freedom to easily play with their friends.

Keep in mind that all of the other standard cooldowns and restrictions will continue to apply; we’re just opening the option to transfer characters on Normal realms to Player-vs.-Player realms. In part, we thought it had become a hassle for players to have to equip (or macro) riding trinkets. We have new plans for how to improve mounted speed that we will unveil eventually.

These (as you know) are Bound to account, which means you can mail them to any character on the same realm. They also scale with level. So you can mail these to a level one character and it will have appropriate stats (although slightly uber) for about 10 levels and then the item scales in power again, all the way up to how you're seeing it now.

We're also going to add some Bind on Account non-scaling items for higher level alts. in the future.

Let me elaborate on how these work for everyone.

1) Heirloom items Bind to Account. This means you can mail them between other characters on your account of the same faction.

2) Heirloom items' stats scale to the level of the person wearing them.

3) Heirlooms' power is equivalent to a blue item of the characters level.

4) Heirloom armor pieces will transform based on the type of the gear the character is capable of wearing. That is to say Heirlooms that are Plate on a level 80 character will be mail when equipped by a level 1-39 character who can wear plate. Items that are Mail on a level 80 character, such as Herod's Shoulders, will be equippable by people who can wear Mail armor at level 40.

We wanted to add something to the game for people interested in trying new classes or who just generally love playing alts, and what's more fun than using an Arcanite Reaper on your level 1 Warrior ;)

We are intending to expand where we use the "Account Bound" flag over time but for now Heirlooms are the only items that work this way. We also intend to expand the types of ways that Heirlooms can be attained but for now they are only purchasable via Emblems of Heroism (the new BoJ) and Stone Keeper's Shards, which are attained by killing any dungeon boss in Northrend while your faction controls Wintergrasp.

As for enchanting these items, they can only be the recipient of anything that you could put on a level one item.

Originally we wanted these to be transferable to any character on any account you own. Unfortunately we were unable to make this happen for Lich King. Ideally I would like to see these transferable to any same server same faction character on any account a player owns. If this becomes possible in the future it is certainly something we will look into. I own five accounts myself so I'm right there with you all.

Heirlooms do not cross any boundaries except those that you would expect them to. Plate items become mail pre-40, pail items become leather pre-40. A cloth Heirloom is still a cloth item. Currently the only Heirloom types available are weapons, shoulders, and trinkets, in time we will expand on this.

As far as how they are attained, your point is definitely something that we are aware of and after the system has had more time to solidify itself in game we will consider expanding the number of ways that they can be attained.

Work is still ongoing but we felt like it was stable enough to at least get some feedback.

Because it is not completely finished, you'll want to adventure there at your own risk. Quests will have some bugs or be unfinished and it's likely that creatures are either under-tuned or over-tuned. Also, rewards might be few and far between.

We'd love to hear feedback on the zone in the Quest Forum. No promises, but it's on the list. We also know about all the small areas that are dismounting you guys in the wrong spots. We will get these cleared up. The intention is for people to be able to fly into the city from anywhere and get the dismount debuff so they have time to land. You can leave the city on your flying mount from either Krassus Landing or the exit pipe in the sewers.

I assume getting stuck in the well will be fixed?
The well should be fixed in the next push. Jumping in the well will teleport you to one of 5 random spots in the sewer. It's a magical well, what else did you expect...

I've seen quite a number of times where Horde will walk up and just start killing the alliance Innkeeper.
This has been fixed. NPC's should not be able to be attacked anymore.

I think a huge concern will be the fact that there is only one conventional exit to Dalaran without taking a flight; and the exit is not a sanctuary. On a PvP server, nothing is to stop a crew of people from ganking everyone that uses the crystal to port out.
We will be spawning guards down in Crystalsong to deal with this.

I like the city but cant stand looking around in different shops and seeing the same old stuff. All GREY ITEMS or lvl 20 arrows(example)... I mean keep that stuff for org or ironforge, I dont see lvl 20 coming to dalaran to get arrows or some other lowbie grey item. Throw some nice items in there so i get excited to look around in the shops.
The current plan is to have the correct vendors in the city selling the items you would expect. For instance, The Hunters Reach will sell standard ranged weapons but it will also sell high end Honor and Badge gear as well. We are going to try and do this as much as possible around the city.

General lack of lore and personality. Rhonin and Veressa should have something to say. There should be more "characters" within the city, having conversations with one another ("FRUIT VENDOR! Your days are numbered!").
This is coming for sure. Don't worry, we have a ton of stuff planned to make Dalaran feel bustling and alive. As an example, we are planning to have an NPC walk around the city each night starting at 6pm to light all of the lamps using a magic spell. Things like this are awesome but we just can't work on that stuff until the basics of the city are locked down and working as expected.

Everything you mentioned was for performance reasons. Many players have had difficulty navigating the city as a result of the inability to move around without lagging severely from both network lag and FPS issues.
We have made an extended effort to make sure that Dalaran performs just as well or better than Shattrath did in Burning Crusade. We have had programmers reviewing the city every step of the way to insure that it does not cause any gamebreaking lag or framerate issues. If you do find either of these things happening to you, please report it ASAP. (src)

Battlemaster Achievement
Arena Master will be it's own achievement with title. Battlemaster will now only include the Battleground Achievements and will have its own title.
We'd still like to add a World PvP meta-achievement with some type of reward. (src)

Death Knight
Death Knight DPS comparaison
We are in the process of comparing dps in a variety of situations, focusing first on PvE and then on PvP (because in this case, the tests for PvP are a lot more complicated). If we find out then that the DK damage is much lower than some other classes, as many of you suspect it is, then we'll adjust. Swipe is easy to buff, but it's also easy to buff it too much so that you only Swipe, even vs. 1 target. For purposes of this thread, let's avoid discussions of things like dps relative to other classes or mana concerns. All Balance talents are open to discussion. We'll do some more tuning on it. There are already some good posts on the topic, but they are mixed in with threads on various aspects of hunters.
Focus on specific talents, and on how the trees are put together. Please don't use this particular thread to discuss more global pet issues (like feeding, leveling or PvP burstability) or pet stats in general. Here’s a few things that should be coming in the next build:

All vehicles should be despawn after the battle ends

Demolisher and Siege Vehicle health has been reduced by 50-75%

Demolisher and Siege Vehicle ram attacks no longer knock a player high enough to kill them

Jet & Bomber health has been reduced

Bomber damage has been increased

Players in Bombers should no longer take damage

Reward for holding the keep has been added

The Goblin Workshops in the North and South now also supply players with land mines that deal bonus damage to tanks

We also hope to have a system for rewarding only players that participated in the battle working soon.

Threatmeter Changes

Scrolling Combat Text

Percentage warnings have been replaced with the following text messages: "Lost Threat", "High Threat" (yellow glow/dot) and "Attacking You" (red glow/dot).

Player/Enemy Frame

Yellow glow on your and the target's unitframe means you have high threat with that mob and you are very close to getting that target to attack you, this is when you have to use your threat reduction abilities (i.e feint, feign death, cower, etc...). when the target starts attacking you, your unitframe will glow red.

Red glow means you are being attacked by a mob, there can be several red glowing unitframes in the party based on the number of targets your party is in combat with. You can reduce your threat with threat reduction abilities (i.e. fade, vanish, feint, feign death, disengage, cower, etc...) or let the tank gain aggro by waiting.

Tooltip

The % threat percentage is still there, however Blizzard added 2 colored dots, yellow dot (you have high threat) and red dot (you are being attacked).

At this point it is unknown exactly at what percentage will you see the high threat warning. Also the threat meter is only active in groups with 3 or more members.

WotLK Blue Beta Posts

Spells Missing

This is not a bug. Also, this was announced. Misses actually miss now, in the log and visually. Misses aren't treated as resists anymore. [Source]

"Cower" emote duration

The current length of /cower is unintended. The animation length has been increased and will appear in an upcoming build. [Source]

Druid

Armor and Bears

Armor is one of the most important stats a tank can have. We aren't trying to keep bears from getting it.

The change to itemization was done solely to avoid having so much diversity in the items we could drop. It's lame when you're leveling up to keep seeing quest rewards that are itemized for your spec (which TBH is still a problem we haven't solved for Feral weapons and idols). It's lame when your raid kills a boss and he drops say elemental mail, healing leather, and a spellpower mace, none of which your group can use. Having bears, cats and rogues all desire the same leather drops isn't a panacea -- it helps some problems, but it creates others. Having bears run around with as much armor as a rogue would be a big, big problem.

Fortunately there are plenty of ways to give bears the armor they need -- through talents (like the crit resistance one) or through Dire Bear form itself for example. Even if another tanking class ends up having slightly more armor than a druid, the differences should be so minor that neither of you is at a significant disadvantage on a boss.

I am glad someone mentioned the hunter example. I am really hoping you guys have the same reaction when you see the next pass on druid talents. [Source]

Hunter

The new "Kill Command"

Kill Command was initially created as a reactive ability, something you hit when an event happened (a critical strike). The problem was that the event happened too often, and players just stuck it into a macro. Kill Command basically just became a flat damage increase. Players are right to assume their DPS has jumped because of shots not interrupting the auto-shot timer (it has, our tests show a ~140 DPS increase in some trials), so I think it's fair to say the class' sustained DPS will be okay. [Source]

Growl

Growl sucks. We'll fix it. [Source]

Boars & Charge

We actually debated this issue quite a bit. In the end it came down to a call about whether it was more fitting to boars to keep Charge or whether it was more fitting for the boar to be a tanking pet. The tanking pets were all going to get Intervene instead of Charge, since it let them be more useful as an OT, and we didn't think it was worth the cost of making changes or exceptions to that design just to preserve boars Charging.

In the end, we decided that boars are feared because they are tough. They have leathery skin, a stubborn disposition and had a reputation for fighting on long after their wounds should have killed them. In short, they felt like a tank. We tried to keep the feeling of the old Charge with the bonus component to Gore.

It was very difficult to come up with a whole new system for pets without losing any aspect of the old system that might be important to players. We are genuinely sorry though if there is a change you don't like. [Source]

Upcoming Shadow Changes

We're going to do some further tweaks to Shadow soon. [Source]

Shaman

Downranking and Earth Shock efficiency

We're working on a rank-1 Earth Shock equivalent spell. Not sure when it will be in, though. [Source]

Earlier today we posted PTR 2.4.3 Undocumented Changes.

Now we're back with even more undocumented changes:

Information about the next TCG expansion already

If you speak to Landro Longshot in Booty Bay on the Public Test Realm, he will share information about the (possibly) next TCG expansion. The name will most likely be "Drums of War". As always, with a TCG expansion, there will be new loot cards. Drums of War is no exception, you can acquire a Taunt Flag, Party Grenade and a Bear Mount.

Stormwind City Harbor

Stormwind City is by far my favorite city in World of Warcraft (Silvermoon being at second place). Apparently the first signs of the Stormwind Harbor can be seen on the PTR, check it out at the northern canal wall between the Park and Cathedral districts. Numerous of construction workers are deployed at the hopefully soon to be harbor, all having <StoneCutters Guild> to their names.

"Fluff" Pets have had their levels altered

All non-combat pets have had their levels changed. Not quite sure what changes there level. Assuming where and what type of level area obtained it can vary from 1-70. Pets from SW orphanage quest are lvl 1 - Shattrath lvl 20. Disgusting Ozzleing farmed from a 55-60 epl zone - level 55. High level 70+ instance/zones/Quartermasters - level 70.

Don Carlos and his White Stallion

New Quest NPC Don Carlos and his White Stallion have been added just out side Gadgetzan Graveyard in Tanaris. Quest name "Nice Hat..." Defeat his old self in the Caverns of Time within the Old Hillbrad instance Bring his Hat back as Proof. Not a Chain.

Tauren Chieftains Band "Live" In-game

Tauren Chieftains Band (LV70ETC) now play a Live Show within the World's End Tavern. Not sure what the time difference is for ever show but its always at the top of the hour as usual.

Today we have some undocumented changes to share and also:

PTR In-Game Code Redemption

This is pretty cool, Blizzard are letting us redeem the new TCG rare promotional items, for testing purposes on the PTR.

During the patch 2.4.3 testing process, we'd like to provide players with the unique opportunity to acquire a few rare promotional items! We encourage any players on the PTR to visit Landro Longshot in Booty Bay to redeem the following items:

Path of Illidan – Code 1111

Disco Ball – Code 2222

Ethereal companion - Code 3333

All you need to do is input the above codes when visiting Landro, and that's it!

Please note that this give-away pertains solely to the Public Test Realms.

[Source]

Read more about New Loot in the WoW TCG: The Hunt for Illidan

Changes to items

With 2.4.3 the Season 4 vendors are selling epic gems for arena points, the price is 800 points per gem:

Potent Ornate Topaz

Runed Ornate Ruby

Smooth Ornate Dawnstone

Gleaming Ornate Dawnstone

Inscribed Ornate Topaz

Bold Ornate Ruby

Another very important thing to take note of is the fact that the Arena Gems are not unique on equip, while the Honor Gems remain unique on equip. Pretty big difference!

New items

Paris Hilton, err I mean, Haris Pilton (her long lost twin) who now live in Shattrath City is selling brand new items.

The following four items is the latest fashion in Outlands, spoil someone you like a lot or perhaps buy them to yourself.

Gold Eternium Band | 3000 gold

Hilton actually sells something useful too, a 22 slot bag.

"Gigantique" Bag | 1200 gold

New Herb Bag

A new 28 slot herb bag is available if you're revered or higher with Sporeggar (tailoring). It takes 2 Fel Lotus and 4 Primal Mooncloth. The name? Mycah's Botanical Bag.

Be it intentional or not. Via World of Raids we're providing you with the latest known list of unofficial changes in the current PTR Patch 2.4.2.

Quest

"The Multiphase Survey" no longer gives a Shattered Sun Supplies bag.

New Items

New PvP epic trinket added to the game (costs 40k honor) - Medallion of the Alliance

Jewelcrafting

New gem added to the Shattered Sun vendor: Purified Shadowsong Amethyst

Item Changes

Renataki's Charm of Trickery on use effect changed, from 40 energy to 20 energy (level 70). (New stats)

Wushoolay's Charm of Nature on use effect changed. (New stats)

Hazza'rah's Charm of Healing on use effect changed. (New stats)

Borderland Fortress Grips have had their stats updated. (http://images.curse.com/details/125905/ New stats])

Naturalist’s Preserving Cinch have had their stats updated. (New stats)

Professions Changes

Leatherworking

Glove Reinforcements are now only 4 Heavy Knothide and 3 Primal Earth.

Fishing

Bloated Giant Sunfish now contain 1-4 Lightning Eel, 1-2 Luminous Bluetail, 3-5 Seaweed, "Mostly Digested Fish" (grey fish-bones), plus odd herb, ore and scroll as before (but less commonly, because of the new drops). This means Luminous Bluetail are no longer caught directly by fishing - they can only be found within Bloated Giant Sunfish. However, Luminous Bluetail now share cooldown with warlock healthstones and not mana/healing potions.

The hunter takes on the aspects of a viper, regenerating mana equal to up to 55% of his or her Intellect plus 35% of his or her level every 5 sec. The lower the hunter's current mana, the more mana will be regenerated. Only one Aspect can be active at a time.

Mage

As we posted earlier today there's big changes to Season 4 Rating Requirements and Arena's. Even more details can be found below.

While Season 3 is still going strong, we wanted to announce ahead of time the rating requirements that will be present for arena items once Season 4 begins. We also wanted to give everyone a heads up to some changes that will be in an upcoming patch, altering how points are gained and players are matched in the arena system. The patch with these changes is scheduled to release before the start of Season 4.

First though, the rating requirement changes:

When Season 4 begins, Season 3 items will be reduced in personal and team arena rating requirement to:

Shoulders: 1950

Weapon: 1800

The new Season 4 items will have the below personal and team arena rating requirements:

Shoulders: 2200

Weapon: 2050

Head: 1700

Chest: 1600

Legs: 1550

Gloves: none

Off-hand: none

In addition, some of the Season 4 quality items that will be purchasable with honor will also carry a personal and team arena rating requirement:

Boots: 1700

Ring: 1650

Bracers: 1575

Belt: none

Necklace: none

Trinket: none

The Season 2 items, which will move to the honor system when Season 4 begins, will continue to have no rating requirement.

The changes to the rating requirements for these items reflect the nature of the items, their power, and the relative difficulty that should be had when attempting to obtain them. These items are comparable to those found in the newest 25 person raid zone, Sunwell Plateau, and should therefore also feel very challenging to obtain.

To help ensure that the challenge in obtaining these items stays true to those achieving these ratings, we'll also be implementing new rules with an upcoming patch to curb practices that undermine the core concepts of the arena system. These rules are as follows:

If a character’s personal rating is more than 150 points below the team rating, they will earn points based on their personal rating instead of the team rating.

This means that a player cannot join a highly rated team and begin earning points based purely on the pre-established rating of the team before they joined it. They'll need to compete, improve, and gain a personal rating worthy of the points they would receive.

If the average personal rating of the players queuing for a game is more than 150 points below the team’s rating, the team will be queued against an opponent matching or similar to the average personal rating.

This means that players cannot join a highly rated team and immediately face highly rated opponents, easily and quickly bringing their personal rating up. Instead they'll need to again compete, improve, and earn their rating.

We're excited to see these changes implemented, which will continue to emphasize the strong competitive nature of the arenas, and the challenge in obtaining the highest end rewards available for PvP.

Enhance your graphics

Make the following Macro ingame and it will improve your visual experience in World of Warcraft.

/console farclip 777
/console horizonfarclip 6226
/console groundeffectdensity 256
/console groundeffectdist 140
/console smallcull 0
/console skycloudlod 3
/console characterambient 0

Restart WoW for some of the changes to take effect. Note that your FPS might decrease, not for the faint of heart (i.e slower computers).

I've executed the macro and restarted WoW, what can I expect this to do?

The vegetation can be seen from miles away (grass flowers etc) plus there seems to be FAR more of it.

The "bloom" effect seems to be more vivid.

The view distance is greatly increased.

Everything seems to be more sharp and crisp.

The weather effects appear to be more intense.

You can view a couple of examples below:

Ok, this really make my FPS low and I want to revert back the changes, what do I do?

Make the following macro, execute it and restart WoW:

/console groundEffectDensity 16
/console groundEffectDist 1
/console horizonfarclip 1305
/console farclip 177
/console characterAmbient 1
/console smallcull 1
/console skycloudlod 1

Since the release of the 2.4 patch we've been working to tighten up the changes made to help address longer wait times when attempting to get into an arena match. While we're fairly certain it's been successful, we'd like your feedback relating to the wait times, how they were before the patch and how they've been lately.

As our changes have been continual since patch 2.4, please only leave feedback if you've played in the last week.

Seeing as tomorrow is the end of the practice phase, will we have to pay another $20 to keep playing after tomorrow?

No. If you registered for the First Qualification Round you will play until the end of that round. You will only need to register again to continue playing after the First Qualifier is completed and the Second Qualifier is beginning.

As of the beginning of Arena Season IV almost all pieces of PvP gear will require an arena rating greater than 1500. This means of course that teams who are only playing to farm points will have a difficult time buying anything other than Gloves or Belts or a few other pieces.

That is correct, even the Season IV gear that requires BG Honor is still going to require an arena team rating. While that doesn't quite seem to make sense I can see where Blizzard is going with the idea.

This is going to change a lot of opinions about farming PvP/Arenas for PvE and with some of the other changes going into effect it is going to make selling top rated teams much less desirable.

There is quite a bit more to go along with this but your best bet is to go to The Original Post By Drysc and get the news directly from the source.

Another new PTR Build - Spell Changes

Several spell changes have been discovered in the latest PTR Build. Of the notables were more changes to the hunter class. Not only was the Dead Zone removed almost completely - it's only 4 yards now - but Aimed Shot was upgraded too.
