Blizzard unveils the Warcraft Armory!

Today Blizzard has unveiled a Beta version of a set of new web-based features for their official site, called the "Warcraft Armory."

> Blizzard is proud to unveil the beta test stage of World of Warcraft Armory, the next big step in the evolution of the official World of Warcraft community website. Located at http://armory.worldofwarcraft.com, this beta version of our new dynamic site offers some brand-new web features using information taken directly from the World of Warcraft game database: > > > - Character Profiles: > View equipment, stats, skills, reputation, and talent build of every character above level ten with the in-depth Character Profiles. You can check out your own characters, or check out those of your friends and guild mates – all characters from all realms are listed in the armory. > > - Guild Profiles: > Access information about any guild, including the guild’s roster and a detailed statistical breakdown of the guild’s race, class, gender, and level combination with the Guild Profiles. > > - Arena Team Profiles: > See how your team is doing or check out the competition with the Arena Team Profiles. These profiles provide you with some very valuable information about your team, like your team rating, your standing, win/loss history, and team membership. > > - Arena Ladders: > Always stay up-to-date on which team holds the top spot, which teams are quickly climbing up the ranks, and the players to watch out for, with the PvP Arena Ladder. > > > Head over to the brand-new World of Warcraft Armory beta website now, and make sure to add http://armory.worldofwarcraft.com to your bookmarks. If you have any Armory feedback or suggestions, don’t hesitate to post in this forum thread and let us know what you think.

Getting issues trying to look up my character. I can get to a list of characters with the same name as mine, but upon clicking the appropriate name I just get a hardwood background and no information.

I've had the same problem as RoadKill. Can see my character, but can't see armor.

In addition, I don't quite understand the Relevancy rating. How is it that a level 46 will have a higher Relevance Rating than a level 70? (Both had the exact name searched for)

Why aren't my lifetime honorable kills displayed under Achievements? In order to have your lifetime honorable kills displayed, you must have at least 1337 honorable kills.

Did this make anyone else LOL? :p

Awesome addition to the official site! There are still a few upsides to using other profilers like CTProfiles, as it allows you create 'Wish List' items. However imo, for displaying your current character, the official Armory is much more eye-candy.

Its also quite interesting search for your character name, and seeing who else is using the same alias...Although I am slightly offended that my characters relevance from searching my alias was only "71%" :p

...just discovered that I'm currently the only level 70 called 'Drahcir' in Europe ^^

interesting addition. heavy use of ajax, going to be flaky as a function of specific browser javascript implementations out there. i looked at it with explorer 7, which is probably the only browser blizzard is testing with :-(.

i am left a little cold, however. as far as i know, blizzard still refuses to publish substantive census data? (would love it if i was wrong).

i guess shining a light on the true scope of the population imbalance would make some folks uncomfortable...

What are the recommended and supported browsers for the Armory?

The Armory supports Internet Explorer (version 6.0 and up), Opera 9, and Safari. However, the Armory is best experienced with Firefox. In addition, certain features require Flash Player to function. Currently, the arena team icons are Flash elements, and future aspects of the Armory may be reliant on Flash as well.

It would seem firefox is being designed for! /cheer

It looks like some servers have not had their data inputed into the new Amory system. For instance, all of Gul'Dan US doesn't seem to be on there yet.

It freezes for me on the latest firefox whenever I click a character to see its details.

Nice tool for people that want to sell their account on E-Bay, other than that it is still very limited compared to wowroster (except for the live data part ofc).
