Greaaaaaaat, hunters get what warriors have to spec for and a dispel. I'm so happy.

Actually, hunters have to spec for aimed shot too. It is in the marksmen tree just not that far down. Some don't like to have it (BM spec) since they can do more damage by having fast weapons and faster attacks. But still, now you don't have to worry about bringing a mortal strike warrior to a fight as much. You can allow your warriors to play the specs they want to play. Helps prevent guild sanctioned specs.

Think many BM hunters have aimed shot, 41/20/0 best BM spec

    A MS hunter? Hardly.

When's the last time warriors took 3.5 seconds to cast MS....

  • Sat, Oct 20 2007 3:25 AM ()

WOO! More reason for Holy Priests to hate fighting Hunters.

Not only can they dispell every form of survivability we have, but now they can MS us as well!

When was the last time a warrior hit you from 40 yards away with MS?

  • Sat, Oct 20 2007 3:25 AM ()

I'd have to look it up but I believe it had something to do with intercept

hehe not a single comment on PvE (well the paladin)... This game makes a lot of changes based on PvP and those PvE changes people don't notice, sad.

Even being in a PvE oriented raid guild all you here is "oh no hunters will be so OP now in arena" or "omg warlocks are OP" etc. who gives a damn if you raid 90% of the time and PvP a few games a day.

Btw I look forward to 2.3 generally seems like a good patch, you can't please all.

    Rogues: Good, they needed it.
    Hunters: Good, they needed it.

Did hunters need all of it? Dunno, have to wait and see. Its all theorycrafting until it hits the real servers.

I do feel sorry for them, their forum is going to crash. "All" healers hate the change, warriors are jealous, mages want the deadzone, warlocks are affected by MS (AS), the only people who wont come in there whining are the rogues.
Oh well, at least they will be too busy with the hunters to come to the warlock forums.

    *sigh*

Too many people keep saying wrong stuff about hunter mechanics.

Melee was the area from 0-5 yards.
Deadzone was the area between 5-8 yards.
Ranged was the area from 8 yards to 36/41 (max range depending on talents).

Thus, if the shot has a range of 4-37 yards, the deadzone has been removed completely. (and hallelujah for that!)

I'm wondering, though, if they've reduced the melee range to 0-4 then, as it would seem that you would otherwise run into the problem Blizz initally created the deadzone to act as a buffer to prevent (having access to both shots and melee attacks at the same time)

As for the aimed shot getting MS debuff.. Well... It still has 3.5 second cast, and with pushbacks, no talent to reduce pushbacks, and both LoS and melee range stopping the shot from being cast, I doubt it will be so effectfull as some people are trying to make it appear. If anything, it will just make people more aware of needing to move into melee range with the hunter making it harder for the hunter again as I haven't heard of any new ways a hunter can get range with, still making it the class that needs range the most, while having the least tools to do so.

Um NO. Hunters have to SPEC into Marksman tree to get Aimed Shot.

Granted it is MUCH higher in the tree (Tier 2) for hunters, it still requires 10 talent points to acquire.

Yes and promptly followed by a hamstring and a few 2K crits......

This makes hunters viable in Arena combat.. If you look at the current class makeups on arena teams,

Hunters are less than 2% in many cases. We needed to be able to contribute to the arena teams in a more dedicated fashion, and these updates should help. In addition, we no longer absolutely NEED a warrior to burn a target down efficiently. This really helps friends and teams that don't have a warrior available to team with.

What is so wrong with that? Think about it much like Blizz buffing Pally and Druid tanking. Warriors used to be the only tanking class. Now we have 3 very viable classes for 90% of the content in the game. Enter Death Knight and we have 4. Now we can all have fun without having to wait around for 1 specific class to run something. I personally have a warrior as well, and this hurt in the beginning. But now I can see the logic. Oh and I am leveling a druid (64 atm) LOL.

Hunters didn't need their Dead Zone "fixed".

Beast Mastery Hunters are now the single strongest class/spec in the game.

The dead zone still exists it seems to be between 2 and 4 yards. Melee range appears to be 0-2 yards now. Shot range 4-35. I tested it and the dead zone is now like 2 steps.
