Karazhan 10-Boxed

A Chinese World of Warcraft player recently posted a video where he defeat Terestian Illhoof all by himself by playing ten characters at the same time. Also known as multi-boxing, which you can read about more further below.

He has also posted screenshots of him defeating Moroes, Maiden of Virtue and also the Opera encounter (Romeo and Juliet).

He's playing with:

  • 1x Priest
  • 1x Mage
  • 2x Paladin
  • 2x Warlock
  • 4x Shaman

And has killed 9 out of 11 encounters in Karazhan so far.

What is multi-boxing?

Multi-boxing is a term used mostly in MMORPGs to refer to playing as multiple separate characters simultaneously. This can either be achieved by using multiple separate machines to run the game or by running multiple separate instances of the game.

Variations on the term are common. Often, the number of accounts used is reflected in the term used: dual-boxing or two-boxing for two characters, three-boxing for three etc. More generally, the term hydra may be used to describe multiboxing, after the many-headed serpent from Greek mythology, the Lernaean Hydra.

Hey really quick. How does everyone know this is one guy played all these characters at once? He has no video of himself playing the characters. All he has is a video of one character playing.

I don't see why him being Chinese is such a negative thing, it seems 90% of WoW have become little closet racists with an inferiority complex. Whether he is Chinese, Australian, or American doesn't matter, he accomplished something that few can (either from lack of funds, time or skill) so why not get off your high horses and congratulate the man.

The casting in unison is a big tell on boxing

If he really did that all on his own then great. It shouldn't matter what race he is.

i was being sarcastic, but hey, that doesn't come through well on here, eh?

i mean, you're right and so the question is raised, why does the article explicitly mention his nationality? (his race is human =P)

    Hi All,

Maybe you are the ones are being negative by thinking that author mentioned his name because he was being negative to particularly race. When someone wins a Olympic medal, the commentator will say for example, the Australian woman runner (exact name) has just won the 400m hurdles.

Maybe he was just saying his race to give Chinese props for undertaking such an accomplishment.

Maybe you got the wrong end of the stick and you the ones who should stop being negative.

Since this all our opinions and not fact, only the author can clarify. I try to read his comments positively and not assume that he is being negative to anyone..:-))

Btw when any Guild has a world kill first, the author always mentions were the guild is located, so what is the difference?

You know what? I'm not really sure why...but I'm not that impressed by this. Don't get me wrong, it's interesting that he (pretty much) can solo most of KZ...but it's not really that impressive.

Ten independent players that act as one is more impressive than one person acting as ten.

...but this is all just my opinion. Congrats to him for paying for 10 accounts. =)

    Hi SCGroot,

Maybe you should look at it this way, one person trying to manage 10 different assignments and having the coordination to do so, is impressive. Even though he used a keystroke software, it is impressive, since he is healing everyone and as well as dps and tanking. Majority of us can only focus on dps or tanking or healing and can not multi-task.

can you not write in bold, no need!!

  • Mon, Jul 14 2008 10:11 PM ()

The comments that I and a few others made regarding racism was because when this article was first placed there were lots of racially discriminative comments made by other posters, not the actual article author himself. Just to help clarify.

    --Edit--

It seems most the comments were deleted by mods thankfully
