Another paladin noticed that I had used a weak Blessing of Wisdom, small buff, and told me that there was a bug that meant that for dual-spec'd characters, ranked icons were not always updated when you visited the trainer in the other spec. Low and behold, consecrate was rank 4 not 10, and others that I had not made into macros, were indeed several levels below what they should have been. I promptly out-threated the tank in the next pugged ToTC and died on each boss ... so not sure what my DPS now is. Any tips on threat mitigation for retri's anyone (other than "stop hitting it")?

However in PuGs, which for 25 mans I frequently have to do, you don't know who has what add-on. If you read my original post, it was the sluggish performance and overhealing of Druid HoTs that I was most concerned about with Healbot.

I judge my healing by how many people survive the session. Unfortunately, raid leads judge you by how far up the recount list you came when considering you for re-invites (again this is why Healbot is an issue, because other healers will not see incoming druid heals and will overheal them).

Vouksh thanks for the hints on using macros and clique - I may give clique another try. I use focus a lot on my DPS spec, to set tank assist, or on the rare occasion when I have to sleep a beast. So will look at using it more for my paladin healer (I've now gone holy as my second spec on DawnSmith and am loving the ease at which I can quest in Northrend - mana is almost never an issue!) and see if I can use it more for Teq.

Its made of WIN

Grid+Clique aint bad but it dont come close to Healbot and as for the libhealcomm most ppl have it with grid or some other raid frames anyways and when u say ur judging ur healing of recount HPS etc that kinda means u dont know how healing works

Macros are good up to a point, but you're relying on the game code to do too much of the work. What I do is bind certain spells to work like your mouseover macros, such as cleanse, sacred shield, and all the Hand spells. For spells that are repeatedly cast on the same target such as Beacon of Light or Judgement, I use focus macros. For my actual healing spells, I have my normal un-macro'd spells on my action bar for 1-5, keep my main heal-target targeted, and use clique to spot heal, and use my keyboard to heal my main target.

This might only work for someone like me as I'm ambidextrous (meaning I can use my left and right hand for 2 different tasks at the same time), but with practice can make for an awesome healing setup. You can cover all your bases at once, and it makes healing more fun.

As each one gives a large amount of experience, I managed to get my paladin up from L76 to L77 in a day, as well as about 100G. My level 80 gained about 400G so far (Outlands and Northrend to do). So, despite the risk, it is a worthwhile achievement to carry out! (Not to mention the herbs and ore I gathered whilst going from A to B...)
