WoW Ranting

Holy Priest as Healer...?

As I've been playing with Holy Priest for a while now, of course I as well have had a chance to hear all sorts of unique stuff about healers and everything related to it. The basic knowledge that healer is guilty no matter what is common and known to anyone, but that's not the point. What I'm willing to rant about is the fact that people are starting to make a point across lately that Holy Priests are one of the worst healing classes, which is not exactly making me happy, considering I'm running around with one.

But the thing is that the reasons why people are putting down Holy Priests is the fact that they, unlike Paladins can't wear armor to reduce damage taken and like Paladins and Druids/Shamans can't do some decent damage if needed. And in all honesty - these reasons amuse me to no end!

First of all - Healer in the party shouldn't have to worry about taking damage, as there should be a tank who should be able to keep aggro on himself and mobs away from healer. So unless Healer is an idiot and throws healing spells at someone before aggro has been built up - Healer shouldn't even be worrying about taking any damage.

Then about doing damage... Now please explain someone me from where this bright idea has came from - Healing units doing damage...? Considering that all healers are mana based, and if in a pinch most likely will be put in a place where they will have to use up all the mana they have, then why should they trash the mana to damage someone, if dps are meant for that?

uh...I'm throwing here more questions then giving answers/comments, but this is a complete rant - so no objections please...
as for the keeping holy priest reputation where it should be - do a simple comparing within talent trees. Not that hard to do - and you'll get a quite good clue about the difference healing bonus wise and those few lovely spells holy priests get from talent tree - like spirit of redemption (which in combination of Glyph of Spirit Of Redemption allows healer to heal in this form for good amount of time), Lightwell which is quite useful as it requires only one click to start healing and it's not that hard to heal using it in the middle of a fight if needed and lastly circle of healing - from my point of view one of the most promising spells, as it healing party members around the target (including target, if it's not from other faction or a mob). So that's my quick point across about this all...

    @ Spiderlord1

I personally can't exactly speak about other class healing spells, because i haven't myself tried them to at least lvl 50 or so, but I've seen enough in action and couldn't agree more, that they don't exactly keep up with most of priest spells, well minus the Paladin healing spell that in higher lvls heals serious amount, but that's about the only thing I've seen being good.

and the CoH spell is quite profitable as well for taking on bosses, as you just target boss and spam the spell.

The other day I healed with my elemental shaman in Ramparts, and as I just recently arrived to Outland I still had a mix of Mail, Leather and Cloth armor. Whichever had the biggest bonus to Spellpower.

At the last boss I die because after the herald died no one took care of the dragon, it charged up and more or less one shot me.

Of course it was my fault because if I had worn Mail armor that wouldn't have happened.

Players are quick to accuse and blame others for their own mistakes, I guess that is part of the WoW and all other communities aswell.

    Cheers,

Holy priest are underestimated.  Druids have hots they can place on every one but is unreliable since they don't have many direct heals.  Shammys have chain heal but its not as effective as circle of healing.  Pallys on the other hand are hard to out heal since they have a million MP5 and have the buff that ups the healing done by their spells.  Their big heal costs a lot of Mana and unless they have haste rating it takes forever to cast.  Priests in my opinion are still better healers for 25 mans with circle of healing.
