Diablofans.com has recently released
a
Diablo 3 Development Tracker; which is basically a summary of any and all
development posts on the official forums for the game. The tracker even has articles,
questions, and comments originally posted by other people that receive a
response from
Bashiok, or other VIPs. They have recently posted the following about some
activity on the official BattleNET forums
regarding some recent questions by the community and answers by the developers:
1.
Bashiok replies to a post about possible gold sinks in Diablo 3; a few
memorable notes:
Quote from
(Bashiok)
We're attempting to build a more stable economy in Diablo III, and just like
Diablo II did, we will have ways to draw money out of players. If that means
there will be big ticket items or not, I don't know, could be. If we want to
throw out gold as much as Diablo II did we'll definitely need some better places
to spend it if we want gold to be worth anything.
So it looks like we'll possibly see some enhancements to vendors, big ticket
items, and other ways to relieve us from our gold piles! He goes on to say:
Quote from (Bashiok)
To address the OP, we don't like the idea of binding items just because
Diablo is a trading game. To take away that ease of trade but add an asterisk
behind it stating Unless you pay a lot of money, it'll just make it feel... I
don't know... kind of crappy. There are better ways to go about keeping a stable
economy, and whenever possible they should be on things the player finds
helpful, useful, or at the very least fun
Some of the most promising words yet regarding the economy in D3, at least we
know they will be focusing on it and taking what they learned in D2 to enhance
how the market will work in D3. Great news
You can read the entire post and conversation here:
Money Sink Method.
2. A fan noticed that in the D3 Gameplay trailer there is a TEAL Mana orb for
the Barbarian, which was a different color than the blue used for Witchdoctors.
This raises a pretty obvious question if they're pooling from a different source
of power, and how it will work, Bashiok answers:
Quote from (Bashiok)
Fury is Barbarian specific. It's the only class that uses Fury as a resource
pool. At the announcement at WWI it was a sort of teal color in attempts to show
it wasn't mana. We were working on other colors, but just weren't really happy
with the other ones worked out for it at the time of the announcement, so teal
it was. At BlizzCon though it had its swirly lava-esque look. That's gone now
too though, Fury has changed a bit more and we'll be talking about that before
too long.
So it looks like they just didn't have time to change it; wonder if they won't
be going with some kind of off orange like some of the spell colorations in game
for the Barbarian in D2? Who knows! You can read the official post in its
entirey here:
Teal orbs?
3. Finally, we've come across a post from a user begging them to please stop
releasing information - Although I think that would leave most of us with
nothing to read/dream/cry/pray about, but to each his own! The conversation that
ensues is pretty brutal, as you can imagine, at one point D3 is compared to a
rotten sandwhich at which point
Bashiok finally chimes in:
Quote from (Bashiok)
I was waiting for Diablo III to be compared to a rotten sandwich. Now I can
die peacefully.
The rest of the post is a little more eventful, check it out at:
