Curse Client Update - September 3rd

Today we're releasing the latest build of the Curse Client - the small utility that manages your game addons and submits data to WOWDB and WARDB. With the Curse Client installed, your game addons will be kept up-to-date, as they are delivered directly from authors hosting their projects at CurseForge!

This latest version is the most polished yet, correcting all known issues that the community has reported and adding filters to the Find an Addon tool.

You can download the Curse Client directly from http://media5.curse.com/dl2/CurseSetup-2.0.0.1.exe... or from WARDB.

Please report any issues you find at http://testclient.curse.com/

Note: This is a beta version of the new Curse Client, so please feel free to provide any feedback or suggestions you have, as well as bug reports!

Does not work on Vista home premium at all, after installing I get a logon window that quickly clsoes itself, then some weird little IE box that appears and has no controls. Do not down this.

I don't know if this is a known issue but every time I would tell it not to upload my usage statistics(privacy controls) it would change the setting back and start uploading my statistics. I don't mind contributing to the database but privacy settings shouldn't change once you set them a certain way. If they do change for some odd reason it should be to a more conservative setting.

Anyway, thanks for the nice update utility. I appreciate what it does.

(edit - I am not referring to the new client posted above. It was the old client that I was using that had the problem with the setting not staying)

scruff989: Is this in regards to system information or uploading game data? Also, could you give this new version a try please and let us know if you still have the same issues?

i have intalled this new client and when it updates my mods it wnat me to DL all these huge mod packs and other ppls mods and such i liked the old version DL from the site and then the client monitors those mods and not try to get me to DL other larger mod packs

evildemonknight: the huge mod packs will not show up when we release the final version

I hate it...I want the old version back. It keeps downloading huge add-on packs I tell it not to, auto installs mod's I have NEVER had installed, even when auto install is turned off. It has uninstalled add-ons taht I want, and somehow has caused my ace updater to quit updating. There are only 4 add-ons I ever had the client manage, and I have no option to only manage them with this version.

I am uninstaling the client and unless I can get the old one back, I doubt I will ever reinstall it again.

Many of my add-ons that I keep updated with Ace Updater are being ignored/overlooked. My entire UI is trashed due to add-ons just not being installed anymore for whatever reason.

I just downloaded this new version and it's not allowing me to download Addons through the actual website, THIS website. Nothing comes up.

i really don't like that it's added some packages on it's own without asking me after i suppose it found a match only within some packs...
Especially after i disabled everything that said "auto" and "update" in the same line from the Configuration menu...
(guys, backup your addons dir before upgrading...)

is this supposed to fix the chars updating issue?

Hopefully people will scroll down before they decide to download and install this BETA(betabetabetabeta COMES WITH BUGS beta).

Upon installing this program, I admit that I did not read that it was a beta otherwise I probably would have not installed it(please make this information more visible to the public rather than a bolded note at the bottom of your description). Now... where was I..

Oh. Upon installing this program It asked me if I wanted it to update my addons for me, I thought.. sure why not, if its telling me that I need to update then I probably do since the last version did. Well... It updated them alright. With old versions. Now I have to spend about 2 hours reverting back to all of my previous mods and setups, then deleting Curse Downloader. Just a warning to everyone that is about to download this... Please only install it if, and only if, you plan on helping curse test it and feel like spending the time to figure out just what it has done to your (if you have already installed it) now useless UI.

I think I will pass on this one till the comments show its not so buggy.

I had no problem with the old client, dunno why it need updating but anyway. i just downloaded it, and it did none of the things listed below. actually, it does nothing with my addons (or i can't see the pop-up telling me it is, which would be really bad), so i dont know what's different in my version, but it's not as aggresive as the ones listed below I think.

I registered an account & got the client download page up in front of me & grabbed it just fine. I later noticed it was updating some addons that I did not want it too so tried altering settings with no joy.

I had the bright idea of uninstalling & starting from fresh, however none of the links appear to be the same client I origionally downloaded & the new ones do not seem to work properly for me.

EDIT: Just did some more digging & found the first download. when registering or following the account set up wizard the final stage has a link to the client version 0.16.0 this seemed to work fine though needed some more fine tuning on my part when setting up. the links above to 2.0.0.1 installs but unlike the older version does not seem to pick up my addons at all
