Age of Conan

415,000 subscribers according to latest report

Last Friday Funcom released their quarterly financial results, which revealed information about their results post launch for their flagship MMO, Age of Conan. If we are to believe the report, AoC currently has around 415,000 customers but the play time in the game for each customer has been less than they expected.

Furthermore, over 800,000 copies of the game have been sold to customers and Funcom's Revenues increased even higher than expected. Operating loss is still something that is the case, but overall Funcom feels it is in a good financial shape with quite a bit of cash available.

There are many plans to expand the Age of Conan world and squashing bugs is one of the main focuses, not to mention bringing forth updates to the PVP.

If they lie in a financial report they will get in a lot of trouble with their investors

50% churn rate in 3 months. I can't see how they could possibly be happy with that. They're also operating at a loss, apparently the days when 400,000 was a profitable subscriber base are gone. Sounds like there's significant overhead and inertia in Funcom itself. If their churn rate is as high as described here I doubt they can keep a solid customer base. I hope they aren't banking on 360 being the saving grace.

It's interesting that they plan to launch two casual MMORPGs in 2009 though.

Currently operating at a loss of 7,000,000 USD per quarter with 37,000,000 in total cash. Expecting to lose 4,000,000 to break even in Q3. At least they project a positive development.

I wonder how many "subscribers" will want their money back when they discover that funcom is still getting their money even that they canceled their subs in account management....
