The story of Rastlin all starts off with the soul. For many millennia the soul has been an untapped source of power, until one day when a man only known as Dragekon dug deep into his own soul to find the soul’s power of eternity.
This power allows a soul to be carried from generation to generation, carrying with it its experiences, its love, and its pain. After Dragekon learned how to use this power he taught others until there were so many that is started to burden the fabric of time. After which the time known by many as the Dark Ages began.
Not much is known about the Dark Ages except that many of those eternal souls were cast off of this world. The few that remained were called Dragons.
In each Dragon was a beast that held the great power of many lives. Some Dragons use their power for good, bringing Balance and Justice to the world, some used their power to keep watch over Time. While some insisted on using their power to cause chaos and evil to reign. Because of their few numbers there always seemed a balance between the good and evil Dragons, but the dark Dragons started to enslave humans to do their dirty work. Promising them power and wealth for their deeds.
Some of these Dragons took advantage of their humans slaves and because of it the Dragonkin were born. Dragonkin like Dragons have power within them however they have no soul to command it and so the Dragon they were born from controls them at its will.
Because Dragons were mainly an eternal soul that just moved from generation to generation, the only way to destroy a Dragon’s eternal soul was for another Dragon to slay it. The dark Dragons came to realize this and used their Dragonkin as armies to get close to the Dragons, and then came in themselves for the final blow to eliminate the Dragon’s eternal soul forever from this plane of existence. However because of the dark Dragons’ desires to rid the world of light and slay any good Dragon the balance was being shifted and started to create an imbalance in the world.
The Dragons that have kept watch over Time have been able to avoid these attacks because of their ability to travel through time with ease. They have seen the destruction that the dark Dragons pose on the world and what would become of it if something was not done, so they started events to take place that would summon the rebirth of a Dragon long since vanished in the Dark Ages. A Dragon so old some believe it to be the soul of Dragekon himself.
This Dragon is now known as Rastlin… However he doesn’t know it yet.
