Into the Great Unknown

I have Slow.

Ok, you can stop laughing now.

Seriously.

STOPPIT

I'm about to do some arenas with it.

SRSLY GUYS STOP LAUGHING

So why do I have Slow? I'm currently a 45/16/0 build due to getting an itch for something new, and for another reason.

Everyone has their own playstyle, whether it's active, passive, offensive, or defensive. This is fine, but the problem arises when you get TOO stuck in your own little world. For example, I tend to play very defensively. While this often works out all right, sometimes I end up going the whole fight just running around like an idiot trying to stay alive when I should be actually trying to kill the damn opponent.

Respecs into something completely different shake you up and make you rethink your strategies. I sometimes spec into a completely offensive playstyle just to make myself leave my comfort zone and play better overall.

Try this out with your own character sometime if you find yourself stuck in a rut. Shake up your gaming and you'll improve your "favorite" spec by stretching out your legs a bit and seeing what your class is capable of.

I had spent ages as frost and was tired of all those pesky warlocks beating me on the charts in AV and WSG! A week ago I went 40/21 for MM/BW, slapped on my spellfire/strike, and am having a blast rocking my 100 resilience/8k health/1220 spelldamage in PVP. :D

Not really arena viable, though my 2v2 (me as this spec, although in my PVP gear this time + a frost mage) got to 1650 with a better than 80% win ratio last week. :) I died nearly every game but it's great for taking out druids... basically any healer. AP + AM when they're running out of LOS (especially if MSD procs) is win.

I found that starting out in invis allowed my teammate to start taking the brunt of the other team's focus fire, which he could withstand significantly better due to his spec. Then I could uninvis 30 yards away from him and unload on someone, who always died between shatter combos, a cc'd teammate, and ap pom pyro-fireblast-blastwave-am and imp cs if necessary

Hey man really like your vids they helped me awesome at pvp even if i dont have the gear i cant wait for i suck at pvp 2. But hey im sure your happy bout the new ice block changes and "Icy Veins". did asheni transfer over with you aswell. Is he/she going to be ret for your arenas? i run with a ret pally and its well fun we both put out instant damage like theres no tomorow. I specced slow for a raid jus to see what it was like and i couldnt stand it i really wanted to try it in duels but i was down b4 i could do anything or learn more about the spec sadly. But yea man hope to see your next vid soon =D

Oh, already respecct?
One question about this then: are there going to be any fights with that spec in your next vid? I'd like to see how it's played (I'mm full-fire minus 3 right now, 0/58/3, and has I hit lvl 70 the day before yesterday I don't want to respec right away)

Considering arena: I don't know if you did any arena being fire-specct. I tried some 2on2 yesterday, having a wl as my partner (first arena time for me). it was, let's say, a little disappointing. I was expecting to die fast as I have equip that is not even worth being mentioaned (6,2k hp with 460spelldamage and 24,xx%crit)... but not THAT fast. All I did was putting out a little damage with my instants and buy my wl-partner the time to set up his dots. After that, it was a 2on1, which of course he had trouble to deal with.

So, is this gonna improve a lot either with better equip? Or do fire-mages simply don't belong into arena?

Well, on the other hand I'm top-dd in every instance I was since lvl 45 if the others were my level, and this hasn't changed on 70 now (espeacially out-damaging an ice-mage that is better equipped than me and who kicked my ass in the duels after)

After the questions a personal opinion: Thinking about how it might be:
It seems that a frost-mage is, due to his ice-barrier mainly, fun to play in arena even with low equip, whereas as a fire-mage needs a lot of hp and resilience, as he dies to fast otherwise.

I got offtopic by now... sorry.

Hope that you don't take as long again to post something new. hrhr

It was pretty hilarious in BGs overall. When I wasn't focused on I could put out ridiculous damage very quickly. However, a rogue on me meant sad, sad times, since I had no way out of crippling poison after using my trinket.

It also did serve its purpose of making me think more offensively again. I tried farming out on the elemental plateau, and I got jumped by a rogue. I ran around for a bit trying to get away from him, and then I thought to myself, "Why don't I just kill him?" Once I started to actually try to hurt him, he went down fast. Nice wakeup call.

As for arenas... as soon as they figured out I wasn't frost, they swarmed me and I had no way of surviving. It was a nice reminder as to why I support trainable ice block... with that, I honestly think I could've been a much more viable member of the team.

I've respecced back to 17/0/44.

We chatted about this last night, but I'm curious, how did your day go as a whole with the Arcane spec?
