WoW Christmas Wishlist

Dec. 15, 2007 | by trptscott | Tags: warcraft, wishlist

Like many who play this game, I have a few "Boy, I wish Blizz would..." thoughts for Warcraft. In the spirit of Christmas wishlists, here's what I'd like to see in my Blizz stocking this year:

1) The option to buy faster flight paths. Instead of the scenic routes between zones, these flight paths feature faster mounts and direct routes.

2) Closets for sets of gear. No more bank slots dedicated to all the different gear. Let me build a set of gear and place it on a hanger in my bank. One slot = one set of gear (including rings, trinkets). You could even have slots especially for the tier sets (including PvP).

3) Limitless stacks of PvP Honor Tokens. This would remove their delivery (and subsequent despawn) in the mail. Especially since we can't turn them in for rep anymore.

4) Extended quest log beyond 25 quests. My lvling Warlock wants to be able to do more quests!

5) Timed events for all heroic instances. Much like the ZA timed event. Kill the bosses in a certain amount of time and reap the improved rewards.

6) Reduced cost for respecs. The game practically requires folks to use different specs. There should be a dramatic reduction in the cost. Make it one flat fee.

7) Tri-location hearthstones. Blizz... travel time in Warcraft is ridiculous. I know you like folks payin' month after month for play time, but having us spend minutes (ultimately hours) just to travel is absurd. Should be ports to other cities in all major cities (a la Shatt). And then our hearthstones should let us select 3 destinations. QED.

Well, I'll keep the list short. Anyone else have ideas for those small changes that could make a world of difference?

My friends respec bill is now getting up to 80g, not right. I thought it only went to 15, I was completely and totally WRONG.

It should only go up to 50g -- that's been the cap since beta when they introduced it.

I think blizzard should bring the pvp ranks back i also think a hunter should be able to fake there death at lvl 20 and the pvp for av and ab should have more honor

I think the biggest wish list item I like to see is the ability to track your parties quest item status. I am tired of asking who has or needs what. I like the ability to immediately see who already done a quest or partly gathered the items. And I like the ability ti click into the macro the quest level and titles rather than having to manually type the quest titles. And lastly I like to have the quest log record the previous parts of the chain so you can always check how needs it before progressing further along the chain.

Get addon named QuestsFu for Fubar. Pure awesomeness in action. Has most the functions you mentioned and more.

All I really want is for their "art" department to stop recoloring old items. At the very least they could stop reusing old armor skins. Out PvP gear should NOT be reskins of our dungeon gear with altered stats. They should be completely unique in appearance.

I was always disappointed that despite the many resources available to Blizzard, it seemed the same ol' models were recycled time and time again when it comes to gear. It's nothing new of course. I remember when Bloodfang was just Shadowcraft painted red.

While I would love to see more creative gear sets out there (without being ridiculous... sorry locks, I'm not digging the Tier 6 "I am Batman" theme), I wonder if they recycle gear sets to keep the foot print of the game reasonable? Frankly, in this age of 400+ GB hard drives (or them thar fancy new fangled TB drives), it seems that handicapping such a critical component of the game to keep the foot print a reasonable size is pretty silly.

I demand Pre-BC instances made heroic! :D

I vote for lower subscription fees! ^^

comments on yuor points:

1 (and 7) ): Good idea, maybe some "speed-lines" between the major cities, almost like the aircraft system in the real world, with faster planes and more departures between the most important destinations =)
Maybe portals with a small fee to enter, and "portal masters" (almost like today's flight masters). But you should have to visit the town once and obtain the "portal path" from the portal master first, just like you do with the flight paths today :)

3-destination HS would be too imba IMO, the game would get way too easy that way :\

2): VERY good idea indeed. I hope someone forward this one to the Blizzard Devs =)

3): Well, I can't totally agree with that one... Of course, from my (the player's) point of view, this would be sweet. But if you look at it from another angle; how fun would it be if every highlevel PvP'er had tenthousands of honor marks and millions of honor points :S Then they would have full PvP-epic a few minutes after a new set has been released! How much fun is that? :\

4): YES!!!! I'd like to have it increased by AT LEAST 10 quests, maybe even doubled. It's annoying having to abandon important quests because of something more important, and then later have to obtain it again.

5): Would be cool, but how much work do you think it would be to tune all the instances for timed events? :P Heroic versions of Azeroth instances would also be sweet ;) (like Mara, ZG, BWL, MC, DiM etc..)

6): I don't think today's system is that bad, but they should've lowered the cap a little (maybe set it to max10G or something like that)

@2rbear
1) Ok, I concede... 3-point Hearthstone would be imba. But w/ Northrend on the horizon (get it? hahahahah!) that'll be 4 continents for us to bounce around. Hope they have some improved transportation system.

3) Ok, endless pvp honor tokens... maybe not a great idea. But at least increase the stacking size. Do I hear 150? 200?

5) To be honest, I don't think retuning old instances is worth it. I've leveled a gazillion alts and I don't even bother to run them through most Azeroth instances any more. But I would like to see improvements in the new lvl 70-80 5-man instances. And even though Blizz is not so hot on the idea, I'd still like to see 1 or 2-man instances... again, just challenging players to use their characters outside the typical tank/spank scenario.

6) 10G Respec works for me! When I was raiding as a prot warrior, it just wasn't worth it to respec DW Fury on non-raiding days (even for gold farming or pvp). Lower respec costs would allow me to get the most fun out of my characters.

This isn't said too often, but I actually agree with you on ALL these points^^

I think a nice solution to point 5 would be to set up a few "classic" realms (non-BC) just for the sake of nostalgia. There wouldn't have to be that many, just a few ones for the players who want to experience the magic of Azeroth like it was before the Dark Portal cracked open.
Remember that there are many players who joined at BC, and never got to join in on the lvl 60 raiding fun (I'm one of those, when BC came, I was at around lvl 50...), and who'd love to try out the old 60 raids (BWL, Naxx, DiM, AQ, ZG etc...).
Nowadys, ppl just get to 58 and rush to Outland, and the poor guys who actually wanna raid, say, MC (maybe not the best example, but hey!) will never get a raid together because "everyone else" hates the place, and would rather go KZ or somewhere else.

Do you remember what the world (of Warcraft) was like when ppl rushed to be the ones to open the Gates of Ahn'Qiraj? I do, and those were great times =)

1) To have the ability to change flight path destionation or a stop at next flight master emergancy button while on flight path.

2) Remove the 48 hour auction setting, or default it to 24 hour auction.

3) Be able to move the order of profiles while in a party

4) Bring back the Looking for Group world wide channel.

@Lubada

1) It would be nice to have the option of stopping at a nearby flight path if I change my mind. Heck, since the flight paths currently seem to "swing by" every stop, I can't imagine it would be that hard.

4) All I remember was the spread of the infectious "Barrens Chat" when we had the LFG channel enabled by default. TBH, I like the setup of LFG as it is now. No one really uses the LFG module (or maybe just not on my realm) and everyone barks in trade.

1) Agree with you on that one=) Should get the extra cash refunded though^^ (that could get a bit difficult to do in practise, not very realistic if the cash suddenly appeared in your bags :P)
Maybe the flight master on the landing destination could get a "quest" mark, and when you click it, you get a "quest" already completed with the cash refund as reward^^

2) why? I think it's good to have the extra duration time, but there may be addons to do this, or it should be pretty easy to make if you have .lua-programming knowledge =)

3) AG_Unitframes^^ (not very convenient to move the default position of the party frames for each party you join, but still possible ;-) (I recommend to check out AG_UF anyway, because it's a pretty good alternative to the Blizzard defaults ^^)

4) Agree with that one, however, there are several addons out there to do this. Search for LFG always, auto-join LFG or something like that =)

1) There is a hidden trick that lets you get off at the next stop while in flight. You only need to log off to your character select screen, log back in and you will drop off at the next flightmaster nnd you dont need a refund. You aren't charged for the whole trip right away, you only pay as you go, whenever you reach a flightmaster, you pay the fee for his path till the next one.
