Skinny's been hounding me to post. So I post.

Hey all. My name is Earthcaller. My main is a Feral Druid. My Alt is a Resto Shaman.

That said, let me rant and rave a little about pugs.

Lately, while trying to level my Shaman (and subsequentially gear him to heal raids), I've found it increasingly difficult to find pugs to run non-heroic instances. This is more specifically due to a severe lack of tanks, although finding a group of competent people first and foremost is difficult in of itself. Why is this occurring? Is it simply because everyone and their mother is doing at least Kara? Or is the allure of welfare epics (read:Arena Gear) too strong for people to play the game's main content anymore?

Now, please do not misunderstand me. I loves me some PvP action, even as a gimped feral druid in arenas (Unless of course their team consists of rogues and warriors, then I go to town.) But I think PvE plays a much larger part in the game that PvP ever has. Granted, with the introduction of Arenas, PvP is no longer simply an afterthought in the game anymore, and thankfully, craptastic world PvP objectives (Silithus, anyone?) aren't the only thing that is left for PvPers to kill and maim to their little heart's content.

I don't know. It just all seems like a little Catch-22ish to me. In order to start at a competitive rate in Arenas, you need decent gear. In order to get decent gear, you need to run instances. In order to run instances, you need to find groups, which is nearly impossible now thanks to Arenas.

Does anyone else find something wrong with this equation?

On a side note, I should probably Make a relative post concerning Druids and their current state in-game. Maybe I'll get to that...eventually.

It's true a lack of tanks exist, but it is not as bad as some people may think. The real problem lies in that tanks just don't want to do PUGs. It can be way to much stress on a tank having to deal with dps classes that just won't: let you establish aggro, attack the correct target, not constantly break crowd control. To add to this some players always will blame the tank in this situation. I have been leveling up my warrior recently and I just plain refuse to do a PUG most of the time. As a feral druid you must know the feeling at times. Anyways that's my two cents.

It IS true though alto of tanks don't like doing pugs. But I know a large number of prot warriors, and feral druids who have gone arms/resto for arenas. So what he says also makes sense.

Granted, arms could tank non heroics, but at the same time, those warriors I was talking about, rather spend their off time in battlegrounds or leveling an alt.

Very true, this is a compiled problem. The allure of "rockin a season 3 weapon in the first week" has occupied many of the warrior tanks, and who makes a better 2v2 partner for them than a resto druid. Sadly it appears the PUGs of old are in a rapid decay and I can see no way out at the moment. Heck look at the old world instances, are we sure they still even exist? It appears one of the only methods possible today is to have a group of friends to run with all the time.

To be honest, I usually turn down random invitations for pugs for instances I would run just for the hell of it if a guildie or buddy asked me. I think this is mostly due to bad experiences I've had in pugs, even If i can't remember anything specific. I think turning own the invites are subconscious at this point.

In fact, save for raids, all I've done these past month is a couple heroics with a lock guildie, and helping Earth's shaman get keyed to Kara.... as well as helping some nubie warrior alt quest.
