Frost? Naaru kidding me?

I really hope my math is very very wrong.
Why? Because come our beloved and ever so cheerful patch 2.3, frost, in a theoretical 5 minute (or longer) tank and spank fight, will not only out DPS fire by a significant amount, but also make arcane look like out prot tree if we were to compare DPS for warriors.

What did we use for our calculations?: "Standard Specs", 1200 base spell damage, capped hit for each spec, 30% crit, no haste rating (Save for bloodlust), Bloodlust (Assume bloostlust when Molten Fury is in effect), Curse of Elements/Shadows, Misery, Wrath of Air totem.

Mind you, this is on a chain nuking fight, if mobility is required, say every 30 seconds, frost is still the winner, but the other 2 close up and make the difference rather unnoticeable.EDIT: I WAS WRONG

Anyway, I will update this with the numbers later today once I've had the chance to really sit down and go over them carefully in case I've missed something.

Edit: Getting all the numbers together in a comprehensive manner for posting. -10/31/07

Alright, while I'm trying to get all this in a semblance of order, I'll post the actual end results. (I'm at work at the moment, so I don't have much time).
Straight out tank & spank 5 minute nuke fest:
Fire:1825
Forst:1840
Arcane:1653

Adds. (Target Switching at least every 50 seconds)
Fire:1633
Frost:1593
Arcane:1530

Stop casting every 30-40 seconds for 3-5 seconds (moving)
Fire:1670
Frost:1615
Arcane:1530

As you can see, frost only outperforms in a no "special encounter effects" such as moving (A la Void Reaver/Al'Ar), and add spawn/handling. Also, this is all THEORY, we assume that the water elemental never dies or runs out of mana early, and bloodlust is active while water elemental and molten fury are in effect.

I'm sorry if I gave anyone a scare, I scared myself as the first calculations I made were straight out DPS fight, and only after hyperventilating for 15 minutes did I think to plug in the other factors which are so prevalent in today's raiding environment.
So, if you're gonna do patchwerk... frost is your friend. If not, I'd still stick with fire for better overall performance.

What is so bad about Frost being raid viable?

Tricky subjest that usually ends up in an argument.
There is nothing bad about it per say... it's just disconcerting.

Yea, I would like to see a update on this. I speced out of frost for raiding. And I still have my frozen shadoweave set.

Hope this update works to appease you for a while, until I get around to posting everything else.

What is the standard spec for Frost? 40/0/21 or 0/0/61 or something else?

Fire spec I assume is 10/48/3?

Also, what if you remove all those extra buffs?

What was your spell rotation?

Just wondering...

For frost I used 10/0/51.
Fire was 10/48/3.
Arcane was 50/11/0.

If you remove ALL buffs (basically if you're not in a raiding environment), and you allow for windup time (imp scorch, winter's chill), frost will still out perform fire. If it's a short fight where windup time is not given, arcane comes out as the clear winner.

Spell rotation for fire was scorch x5 then fireballx8, scorchx1.
Arcane was ABx3, AM, Scorch.
