After a fun-filled launch night at thousands of midnight openings and a week for everyone to begin exploring the mysteries of Northrend, we're pleased to be able to share the first sales results for Wrath of the Lich King. In its first 24 hours of availability, the expansion sold over 2.8 million copies to become the new fastest-selling PC game of all time, eclipsing the previous record of nearly 2.4 million set by The Burning Crusade. For full details, check out the official announcement.

We'd like to extend our thanks to everyone in the global World of Warcraft community, whose enthusiasm has made this possible.

Did you contribute to the 2.8 million copies purchased on day one?  If so, did you go to the midnight openings around the world to celebrate its launch?  We'd love to hear your experience of it if you did, so feel free to comment!

I was disappoined in the launch held at our local game stop. It was boring we waited in line for almst 2 hours..and it was a short short line. Nothing happened...When game stopped called to remind me to be there they made it sound like there was going to be a "party"..and nothing..just boring...I won't go to the next launch I will order when the next expansion arrives to make sure I have one but I will pick it up at my own leisure. Good thing??!!! I love the game and was in within minutes to go exploring!!!.. I am still exploring and loving it!!

Yeah I went to a midnight release. Lol the GameStop said they'd process us out before midnight so that when the time came, they could just hand us a game and we be on our merry way. The thing is that there was WAY more people than at the BC midnight release and I don't think they were prepared for it. So I waited from like 10:30 and got out at 12:15(approximately). I was disappointed that nobody dressed up for the occasion though.

last time (BC) i had to wait for almost 2 weeks before i got into outlands simply because i couldn't get a box...

this time i wasn't going to let it happen, and i decided i'm going for a Collectors Edition.

the day WotLK was announced i pre-ordered it and when the day arrived, i went to the midnight sale in Tel Aviv, Israel.

was actually pretty cool and i got to meet some nice guys...

My girlfriend didn't quite have the same fun standing there for an hour and a half as she doesn't play (god knows i've tried. ;) ), and i did have to wake up a few hours later for work, but all in all, was a nice experience and if all goes well, i'll be there again next year. :)
