Diablo III to consoles "a theoretical possibility"

In an interview with Eurogamer Blizzards Rob Pardo admit that it's a "theoretical possibility" that Diablo III will be ported to consoles. Earlier Blizzard has gone out with the information that the game will only be released to the PC and Mac. A decision the company motivate with that it’s the most suitable platforms for the game. But when Pardo got the question if there was a possibility that the game could get ported to consoles from Eurogamer, he answered:
I think it's theoretically possible. It would have some control changes that I think you'd have to make... But it's probably, of our major franchises, the one that's most console friendly, for sure.
On the question of a console version and if it would mean that they have to build it from scratch, Pardo answered:
Oh, I don't think it would be a redesigned game. Out of StarCraft, Warcraft or WOW, Diablo would be the easiest game to translate. But it would still take a bit of work.
Now we know the possibility exist. But due to what Blizzard earlier said regarding a consoleversion, it’s most likely highly unlikely.

DrazzardI think that D3 on a console would be interesting, and very manageable. You dont "NEED" all of those buttons, and a lot of the complication that arises through the use of potions is now history, so thats one annoying aspect of shortcut keys and such out of the way.
Lets break the keys down for a few seconds:
Main Keys -
Movement
Primary Ability
Change Primay Ability
Secondary Ability
Change Secondary Ability
So Far, this could be achieved using one Analogue Stick and the shoulder Buttons, which leaves the D-Pad, one Analogue Stick and 4 buttons (not including the 'L3/R3' Butons on theAnalogue Sticks) to fit in the secondary Keys, such as -
Open Inventory
Talent tree
Character Sheet
Party Menu
Quests
(Possible addition of a pointer on the Analogue stick?)
I may have forgotten something, but even so, with the spare stick being taken by a mouse pointer, there is still only 5 out of a possible 10 buttons consumed by the functions i just listed, giving room for another 5 shortcuts, if indeed there were a need for it.
Oh and the chat, as i guess a conversation would be difficult on a controller (unless you have the X360 message extension for the controller) I guess voice funtion would have to be considered so that a console user could communicate when he/she is being slaughtered by the big nasties ;).
I may have gone into this way too much, but the thought of having it on a console is a good one in my mind, and especially with XBox Live (and whatever the PS3s online system is called) I think putting D3 on console would be good for getting the game out to gamers who prefer having all of their buttons in one neat place, and dont like playing on a computer.
I hope my theory on putting D3 on a console makes sense to you, and that you might be able to see my point of view on the situation. Whether they ship it on console or not i'll most likely buy it on Pc myself, though i would certainly have to think hard about that, and a lot closer to release date at that. In the mean time, I'm gonna go play WoW using my XBox Controller and XBlade. have a nice day everyone
